I'm really excited for the movie in 2017,i have a feeling it'll be like the ending of harry potter where they send their kids off, i feel like the mane 6 or 7 may have that same type of ending with some of them with fillies of their own learning about friendship as well, since it was said twilight ages like everypony else would't she want somepony to continue after her? maybe starlight, or her own daughter perhaps? if the show had an ending like that it'd let me and probably others feel content that they enjoyed their life and a good ending without any tragedy, or, maybe the movie might apply to more of the adult based fandom, being higher rated for serious moments.

What if.... the mane 6 get captured by some villain, and it's up to the background ponies to save them. Idk where this idea came from, but it would be quite cool if we get to see the background ponies

I could see Celestia and luna "dying" in mystical/spiritual manner where they fade away (like master oogway, or like obi wan just dissapearing) with them leaving things to the mane six from then on as a passing the torch kind of deal.

I wouldn't be surprised if Celestia was killed off in the movie, in order to let Twilight take over as the ruler of Equestria.

I'm really not buying the notion that they can't kill off any characters. I'm sure little girls enjoyed Big Hero 6 and Inside Out regardless of death.

From what I've read, it's not so much that girls can't enjoy shows regardless of death but Hasbro or Discovery Family has issued an mandate that no character is allowed to be stated as definitely dead. They alluded to characters being maybe dead in some comics but haven't been allowed to officially say they're dead. Just...yknow off in a happier place. (They can't even say that from what I've seen.) 

 

So as interesting as it would be to have Celestia and Luna vanish Ooguay-style, that's probably not going to happen. At least if they do allow it to happen I really hope they don't do it until they get their own episode because I just want to know so much more about those two. 

 

Anyway I popped in here because people are talking about the movie like its the end of the show. That's just a theory right?  :(

And as for my hopes for the movie - I really hope we finally get an actual in-show something with Starswirl. They've talked about him and thought about him and used his wing of the library, but if we could get a flashback or a solid something to go on for his personality (which I've seen depicted as anything from a Pinkie Pie to a cross, studious, friendless old man) would be super.

well, in the original script that sony pictures was sent like 2 years ago, apparently starswirl was the one who tells the princesses that the villain has showed up, so its possible we'll still have starswirl in the movie.

Probably; that's very common-- you have rainbow power, equestria girls has the time to shine sunset and Midnight sparkle toys as well as the new crystal fire wings toys, ect.

Its an easy way to make recolors of the same character to sell to little girls who've already purchased the mane six before after all.

Well its not like he could master those spells , he did the hard part while Starlight just completed it

About character deaths: they did pretty well dodging problems in "The Lost Treasure of Griffonstone".

Yeah someone didnt go down and check Arismapi (is that his name?) skeleton , Damn they could be rich if they put in a museum
