Fluttershy's been getting the least amount of screentime

For so many seasons, Fluttershy's been getting the least amount of screentime, which sucks! I know Fluttershy isn't an easy pony to make stories for, but c'mon, I'm sure the writers can think of something! How about an episode featuring her and Spike helping her get over her fear of dragons? How about an episode where she saves Rainbow Dash's life for once, which causes Rainbow to fear for her ego? How about an episode with Discord and Zephyr Breeze meeting? I can go on!

A dragon has taken to a nearby cave, and his smoky breath threatens to cover Ponyville. Twilight Sparkle and her friends are tasked with removing the dragon, specifically expecting that Fluttershy's affinity with animals will be useful. However, as they make the trek up the mountain, Fluttershy reveals her paralyzing fear of dragons, making the journey difficult for the others. At the cave, Fluttershy refuses to enter, and the others try their own means to evict the dragon, only to get knocked against a rock, hurting them in the process. Fluttershy becomes enraged and scolds the dragon for hurting her friends, causing the dragon to cower and cry in shame. Fluttershy is able to ask the dragon to leave of his own accord, leaving Ponyville smoke-free.

Well there was Dragonshy, but that was just one dragon. She still feared the migration. Maybe a little backstory on why she feared dragons in the first place, and why she finds baby dragons so fascinating. I mean that's what started Spike and Fluttershy's relationship in the very first episode of the show; a relationship which was completely forgotten about! C'mon, a FlutterSpike episode sounds like fun, and Cathy (the voice for Spike) even agreed that she'd like one! She even said once that she preferred Spike to have a crush on Fluttershy instead of Rarity.

I don't think it sucks, Fluttershy is usually really boring and samey, episodes like Flutterbrutter that actually make her interesting are the expection not the norm with her.

Really I don't particularly mind getting little of her and Twilight, I rarely enjoy them (well I used to enjoy Twilight consistently but now my enjoyment of her is only very occasional)

At least Fluttershy will get at least two more episodes. For one thing, she only HAD two last season, but this season, it's at least three for her. On the other hand, I'm not really much of a Fluttershy fan, so I really don't care if Fluttershy's "absence time" continues.

 

I might also want to point out that Fluttershy (in fact, every member of the Mane Six) appeared with Discord in all of his appearances.

Agreed, a lot of Fluttershy's episodes are about her overcoming being a cliche wimp. It gets old fast.

Best way to make Fluttershy episodes interesting right now: Make them about her and Discord. For me, Discord episodes are also very hit and miss, but if we got to see more interaction between Flutters and him, that would most likely be very enjoyable. We literally have not gotten that at all this entire season I think, which is insanely odd. If we got more of that, we would get more Flutter and Discord interaction, and less Fluttershy being scared of things at the same time. She could still be timid and all of that too.

The gimmick of Flutters, is that she is shy. What do you do with her, once you take that gimmick away from her? Not much to be honest.

 

But at the same time, you also can't make another "Fluttershy overcomes her fears" episode, because we already had them alot. At this point, she just hangs in the air.

We'll get another Fluttershy episode the exact second Half-Life 3 comes out. 

 

Okay, with all jokes aside, I was begging for Discord to show up in Flutterbrutter. Literally begging. If they made an episode with Discord and Zephyr, I'd be ecstatic. 

 

Maybe if they made an episode where Fluttershy tries to befriend an animal who doesn't agree? I don't know, that'd start to sound a lot like "Friend in Deed".

Maybe if Rarity wasn't hogging all the screentime this season, we could have gotten at least one more episode where Fluttershy gets a decent amount of focus.

Less screen time makes her times in the spotlight to shine more. I love Fluttershy but there's only so much you can do with her character before it starts getting repetitive.

I have sometimes the feeling that the story writer don't know what to make with her. When you make her to assertive, then a lot of people would say she is out of character and would lost her charme (honestly, I would like it). And the themes "confrontation with her fears" was really often used in the older Seasons. I think she acts best with other characters (like Discord). I find it also a little bit sad that Flutters have not so much screentime as others, but I am always happy when I see her.

Fluttershy actually got a lot of screen time back in the second half of Season 1 (in fact, more than most of the Mane Six), but her characteristics as a mostly quiet girl actually required her to get less appearances, and often, no dialogue in several episodes.

 

To make any fans of this girl any better, she's the first to have an episode with the Crusaders (Stare Master), before anypony else in the Mane Six.
