Which pony do you relate to the most?

Recommended Posts

I'm sure many people have brought this up before, but I am curious to know how others see themselves in the ponies or the way around. Also a few more additions to the question:

Does relating more make you like the pony more or less?

-Is the pony you relate to the most the one you like the most?

-Did you relate to this pony already before the show or did the show make you want to be more like her/him?

-Do you ever think to yourself, "Wow, I just acted like ___ there." or "What would ___ do" and then you do as they would?

(Below is just my little explanation if you are curious to read)

~~~~~~
         Personally, I think the pony I relate to the most is really hard to choose between these 3: Rainbow Dash, Twilight Sparkle, and Pinkie Pie, but overall would say Rainbow Dash.
I am a very prideful person like I love myself, I don't go around bragging like Rainbow Dash, but still I am my own motivation. Also, loyalty is one of the things I always kept close to my heart. Being there for my friends and them being there for me is one of the great joys I have. Seeing it in Rainbow gave me butterflies. I am pretty athletic, but not a dominant type athletic. I am pretty competitive, but also not a sore winner/loser. The biggest reason why I see myself more like Rainbow Dash is because of how I use to be. I use to be like "man, I have to be tough," I wasn't all that sensitive and kind of reluctant to show my emotions, etc. But as time went on I grew out of that and my life is way better! Rainbow Dash has changed in a similar way throughout the show and it is awesome.
        I relate to Twilight because I love making lists. Twilight's list making was so humorous to me because it was so similar. I make list for what I'm gunna do the next day, favorite lists, hypothetical lists, lists in case someone asks me to name from least to best etc. I love learning, but I am not interested in everything like Twilight. Also I am not all that book smart. She use to be very antisocial and so was I when I younger. Now I care about friendship alot, part of that is due to MLP, but wow it's awesome. She is a natural leader and so am I.
        Well, Pinkie Pie loves to party and spread happiness and so do I. She's always ready to make a new friend and I am the same. She talks to everypony she doesn't know and I don't go that far, but making a friend is always something on my list. Always ready to help people and able to make herself happy and an optimist. I wasn't always an optimist and wasn't always able to keep myself from feeling down, but after some time and also MLP it was became pretty easy. I have alot of energy too and can bring it out of myself whenever.
I relate pretty heavily to Twilight Sparkle, which is actually a big factor in her being my favourite character on the show. Many of her quirks remind me of myself, but much more than that I identify with some of her faults, specifically a tendency to hold overly high expectations of herself and a tendency to become anxious about entirely frivolous things. She's not always the most interesting pony to be, but that element of seeing myself in her has kept her as my favourite for a good while now.
Your explanation is spot on. I read mine over like damn, I should try a little more ahaha usually write long posts to be not so extensive, but you made me say "aye!" Anyway, you made me realize a little more of my past self in Twilight. Pretty cool.
I relate to Twilight. I used to be a social outcast and kept to myself mostly. Also read a lot. Still am a bit antisocial, though not on the level I used to be. Probably as much as Twilight is now.
I also relate to AJ a bit, too, I'm a hardworker and pretty down to earth. Don't really relate to the other ponies, though.
I relate to Twilight Sparkle the most. I'm a huge nerd that loves to learn, like Twilight. I love to read, and I usually keep to myself.
Wouldn't that be how she use to be? She doesn't really keep to herself anymore
Yea I was antisocial when I was younger. Definitely not at all anymore. And I would say Twilight isn't either.
True. I guess I should rephrase it to, "I relate to how Twilight was in the beginning."
Well the PONY I relate to the most is Starlight! It was the main reason why she became my 2nd favorite character! She has alot of trouble making friends, and I feel her. She forced friendship, and I used to have thoughts of that. She abandonment issues, so do I. I would LOVE to be Starlight's friend! I need me a Starlight plushie, so I can just give her a hug to make her feel better!
The CHARACTER I relate to the most is Spike, which is how he became my favorite character. Like him, I used to feel useless, and I used to screw up all the time, just like he used to do, and I feel him, and I pitied him too. But now things are working better for the both of us! I need a Spike plushie too. All I have is Pinkie, Rainbow, Fluttershy, AJ, and Celestia.
I probably relate to Twilight the most, too bad she's so damn boring most of the time now and is all the way down at 5th on my list, I don't factor relating to a character into how much I like them much at all, I feel that's lazy and weak.
I probably relate to Fluttershy a bit too... who I like even less and consider even more boring.
I really don't get why people care so damn much about seeing yourself in a character, why does that affect your enjoyment in any way shape or form? I mean hell id say 2 of my top 3 are among the characters I relate to the LEAST because I enjoy watching them the most and find them probably the most consistently written, the only character I feel I relate to strongly yet is high on my list is Applejack.
I wouldn't say it's lazy and weak, I'd say it doesn't really matter if people factor that into it or not. I was just curious. Just a coincidence that the character I like the most is Rainbow Dash and I relate to her the most. I mean my favorite character in sonic series is shadow but I don't relate to him at all and why would I want to XD he's kind of an asshole, but he's more interesting than everyone else.
It doesn't affect my enjoyment either, again just asking. If it does affect someone's enjoyment, ok then I don't care.
Hey @@Misscellanio! Since your thread's not discussing the show directly, it's being moved to Sugarcube Corner. Have a nice day! :)
I'd say I relate to Twilight Sparkle the most. Like her in the past, I was a perfectionist and would get quite stressed out when in pressure, though not as much as her in Lesson Zero. Also like her, I've learned to be more open and not keep things to myself, as well as be more social and not focus just on one thing (studies in her case, coding in mine). That said, my favorite pony is Rarity, though Twi comes very close!
Im outright Rainbow Dash... and a realise most people will say that, but shes so like me its getting a  little scary. The personality fits, but im not fit and athletic like her.
A lot of people said her Tanks for the memories flaw was out of character, but its really spot on. the fear of being alone and losing any contact with a close friend. I have that fear. Im afraid of being alone and forgotten. Ive pushed a ot of people away with the brash attitude and lashing out when upset, upset leading to anger, again you see this in the same episode.
But the positive traits to her though, im loud, competitive and a little lazy ^^; plus a massive tomboy. (im straight female btw) i absolutley hate anything pink and girly. I still find it odd that because of MLP i now like Rainbows more  lol
I totally feel you on that "Tanks for the Memories" episode. (Personally my fav episode) I have the feelings towards being alone, well at least I use to. I'm not sure what you mean by tomboy, but I'm assuming you mean you do alot of things "stereotypically done by males" which is a word that should be stopped being used imo, but hey that's just me.
I started off  with Fluttershy as I saw my younger self in her, but as the series went on. I started leaning more and more towards Rarity being a creative soul and holds herself high, but also isn't afraid to get down and dirty when she needs to. And personally I enjoy the fact of holding myself as a gentlemen and to a degree like getting dressed up for occasions, but to do that I NEED everything to play the part I am going to be.
It was definitely Fluttershy at first. Her shy, timid and very scaredy personality was something I related very heavily too. This is what drew me to her and originally to the show actually. So that sort of relation definitely made me like her more, she was originally my favorite pony. Later on though, I realized that my main relation to her was in my flaws, rather than any of my positive aspects, so that diminished eventually. Now I guess it is a mixture of Pinkie, Twilight and Flutters. I am easily excitable like Pinkie about things I like, I am very passionate about things I enjoy much like Twilight and of course, I still have most of the aspects that make me relate to Flutters, though Flutters isn't exactly the same these days.
There is also Button Mash but that should come as no surprise.
Pinkie pie! Pinkie pie alllll the way!
Seriously, it's almost creepy how much I can relate to her, personality wise we are twins. We both want to involve people, when I was in kindergarten I remember seeing a new girl, running towards her and asking her to sit next to me and to be my friend :D
And we are both hyper, talk fast, jump around, sing a lot, never shut up, have random moments or comments that are actually pretty smart but of which no one understands the logic, we both have a high pitched voice, we love parties, we both have curly hair that is straight sometimes *ghasp* and out middle names are both dianne :D
Oh, and if my friends ignore me I have this mental breakdown. I try to act cool like I don't care but I really do and I just get really sad/ spychotic and it's not fun. But then my friends say sorry and then it's fun again :)
So yea, I can relate much to well with pinkie, it's almost creepy ;)
Why button mash? He's usually just in the background sitting/standing or playing a game
Nowadays I primarily like Twilight Sparkle for things which I highly doubt the show will ever flesh out, so I dunno how accurate it actually is when I call her my favourite - when it comes down to it, I think Rarity is the best-written character on the show, and RD has the most potential. They just... don't allow Twilight to be interesting all that often anymore, and I don't understand why.
Of course, the reason that I like identifying with Twilight Sparkle so much is because a lot of the problems she faced in earlier seasons were relatable to me, as was her character arc. Plus she's slowly starting to become funny and cute again, as in "The Saddle Row Review," and I feel like they're bringing her anxious perfectionism back, which is one of the big reasons she's my favourite - those flaws compel me because they remind me of my own.
Still, come to think of it, she's really not my favourite character to watch on the show, so perhaps my continued high ranking of her is misguided.
Sure! Existing pony characters represent common archetypes of behaviour and every moment almost everyone can find some pony who would act like themselves.
Read my statement and you will understand that I'm mostly Twilight Sparkle person :adorkable:
I think I'm most relate-able to Rainbow Dash, I'm a competitive, prideful, and egotistical person, I think it's why she's my favorite pony. I related to her way before I saw the show, I think the relate-able character is what got me more into the show. Personally I've never done something as if I were Rainbow Dash, I think I handle thinks in my own way.
Exactly. Playing a game, I am a gamer pony. :3 Plus I am a child at heart so there is that aspect too, him being a colt and all.
Oh ok. I thought it was something deeper that's why XD
