Do you like Fluttershy better as assertive or sensitive?

Despite how funny her freakout in The Best Night Ever was, it is not really my favorite portrayal of Fluttershy.

Being assertive like in Fluttter Brutter and how she acted in Dungeons and Discord is when I like her the most.

I'm gonna agree with cmarston1 here. Seeing Flutters acting assertive and sassy has been a refreshing breath of air after so many seasons of her being quiet and timid. Especially all of her facial expressions (comedy gold right there :fluttershy:). I'm looking forward to seeing what's in store for her.

Hey @@Starlight1357, just letting ya know the thread title was edited to better reflect your topic. :)

I like her better when she's more assertive and stands up for herself, it's really nice to see her not be a doormat for others anymore.  :fluttershy:

I like her best when there is a good balance. Something like Flutter Brutter is what I don't like, as it just seemed beyond her character to be as assertive as she was. She was to the point of being harsh, but they overplayed Zephyr so much to the point of idiocy to make Flutters look more in the right.

Dungeons and Discord is a good example of the balance. She was more timid and calm in the beginning of the episode, but when she was about to leave, she basically wasn't messing around and getting straight to the point with Discord. That is what I like to see.

I want her to be something in between. Her being a pushover and overly sensitive can get quite annoying from time to time. But I still want her to be cute, so I wouldn't want her to be too assertive.  :fluttershy:

I like her best when she's being her normal sensitive self. I see Fluttershy as a pony who usually has trouble putting her hoof down when she needs to, but if a serious situation arises, like when she babysits the CMC's or Angel gets picky, she'll rise to the occasion. That's the kind of Fluttershy I want to see.

I've come to like how she can softly assertive herself in just a use of words and a few looks these.    Its nice to see her come out of her shell the last few seasons and still has some ways to go.  We still get our scary cat Flutters just now she stands a bit taller in herself!

I currently like seeing her as assertive.

Why "currently?

If this was her from the earlier seasons we were talking about, I'd say sensitive, but seeing her stand up for herself in more recent episodes implies character growth.

As for her acts of sassines ("Flutter Brutter", "Dungeons and Discords"), I'd like to think that's something she picked up while hanging around the other main 6 for so long.

I like it when she's assertive without abandoning that kindness which makes her who she is. "Flutter Brutter" was great because Fluttershy showed herself as having learned to stand up for herself without losing empathy for Zephyr. If nothing else, at least "assertive Fluttershy" is something different, and it'd be best for the show to capture an insightful balance.

I do like angry Fluttershy, but only because that side of her is so at odds with her normal self.  Assertive Fluttershy loses her power to shock if it happens too often, the fun in watching it come out is the novelty value of it.

So I like super timid Fluttershy, with occasional batcrap crazy outbursts.

Give me Assertiveshy any day. I love how snarky and whitty she's become especially in this season. Plus it shows how much character growth she's had (except when new writers who have no knowledge of this character development write for the show. Looking at you 28 pranks later).

I think she's portrayed realistically. Someone with that many issues is going to snap at times and she does. Also, anxiety and lack of confidence are not something you overcome overnight ("baby steps"....believe me I know  first hand that's probably why my favorite characters are Rainbow Dash and Rarity. They have aspects that I really admire and aspire to emulate despite their own faults). I like that's getting more assertive but hope she doesn't lose her sweetness overall. I like both aspects of her personality and like that she's finding a healthy balance at last.  She's not my favorite pony but she's the one I relate to the most...well a cross between her and Scootaloo lol.

Her being assertive is getting kind of old though her kind side is her most of the time it's still what defines her as Fluttershy to me. I think there needs to be a real game changing moment that causes her to start slapping everyone around.
