It's a decent song. However, as far as your lyrics, you were telling too much. Rather than telling, show the stress of Applejack wanting to know where her dad went and the mystery of his disappearance. Use rhetorical elements such as metaphors and similes to help with showing versus telling.

In terms of sound, I hear a phaser in there and it sounds like you mic'd everything up. For starters, you can buy a cheap interface so you can hook your guitar and microphone in so you can connect to a DAW that is easy for recording.

All in all, it's a good concept, but the lyrics could be improved. I'm here if you need help.

Loreena McKennitt! That's kinda huge to hear, thank you so much!!

My Dad was a folk musician; this sounds a great deal like his sort of sound.

Kudos - excellent job!

I'm so glad you think so, thank you!!

I had to look up the word phaser but I still don't get it? What I did when I recorded this is I just put the mic (hooked up to a Zoom R8) close to the guitar, so I'm sure some additional noise will have entered the recording. Although my ears are probably not as keen as yours, you seem to have been at this kind of stuff for a while?

About the lyrics I'm kind of glad you feel the lyrics give away too much, since I've heard someone say the opposite. And besides, we're dealing with the representative of the element of honesty! Nevertheless, I do like lyrics/books/anything telling things a little less than obviously, and I appreciate your suggestion. And thanks for your offer to help.

Yes, I've been playing music for 17 years, have 6+ years of composition and 3 years of Audio Engineering.

There is a phaser in there when you start that riff after the first part. A phaser is a sweeping wah-filter that is often used in country, rock and classic rock. Personally, I prefer a nice and watery chorus, but it's fine, a phaser works too. And no problem, anything for a musician like you!

Really nice job, Woodgazer! Especially if this song was written and composed by you. Keep creating! ^_^

I always envied of people who can create music this way.

Thank you very very much :)

Its a nice song with a nice soundtrack is a bit sad though :(

And thank you very very much too. Oh it's sad alright :( Apparently the lead character designer Kora Kosicka confirmed in an interview that Applejack's parents aren't longer wandering the soils of Equestria. That's sad. But it does kind of explain why Applejack and the rest of the family is so driven and independent and accomplished...
