Huzzah, more Starlight, this pleases me very much!!!  :D

OK, I'm pretty sure that Twilight just created life and Starlight created Captain America's shield.  In other words, this episode is off to a swimming start already!!!  :muffins:

Twilight's castle has a roof pool? Spike's afraid of spiders?

Who knew?

Very fun episode, though I have a feeling Starlight is still going to get a lot of hate for not being punished enough, even though she learned her lesson anyway.

I thought it was a great episode! A lot of missed potential, but very good nonetheless! I think my only major issue with this past season is the reoccurring "montage" that's been popping up in every other episode.

Victims:

"Applejack's 'Day' Off"

"Cart Before the Ponies"

And new to the family...

"Every Little Thing She Does"

It's a minor problem, really; but it just seems lazy. I certainly hope this does not become a pattern for newer episodes.

wow, not only did starlight give a quality apology, they acknowledged that it was free from "buts" and was sincere.

Apologies are really hard, and very easy to get wrong.
Starlight, of all ponies, would have had the hardest time telling a sincere one given her pride.

really made the episode for  me.

Also, i like that the spell had some lasting consequences, and resulted in suffering.  all too often, something bad happens, and then its all wrapped up at the end of the episode.  I like it when there are some lasting effects, like in the parasprite episode.

Okay guys, seriously. I need to hunt a certain starlight glimmer, because she stole my shtick

Also, i am not qualified to review this, since i am too bias towards the mind control plot device.

um why?

isn't the point of punishment to change an individual?

why would more be needed?

This was the worst episode of the season. I rarely get mad at an episode, but wow.

The story had a lot of potential that could have focused on Starlight helping secondary characters on friendship, but instead they just rebooted the whole montage at the end of the season five finale.

That's my point. Her haters are going to criticize the episode anyway because there was no harsh punishment for using a mind control spell, even though she understands what she did hurt her friends badly.

Yeah no, I'm so against Mind control

What I liked:

The hangover: Okay funny way to show the effects of the spell and nice to see how the Mane 6 would react to a night of binge drinking.

Chewing Starlight out: Not enough of it but Sweet Celestia at least they gave her some for the stunt she pulled.

The Mane 6 hypnotized retaining their personalities: At least they still had a bit of themselves in there

The conflict idea: Okay so the idea that Starlight is nervous about friendship lessons and reacts badly to them is a good idea, but the execution I'll go into later.

The opening: Nice magic and visuals there.

What I didn't like:

Starlight Glimmer: YOU DON'T USE MIND CONTROL!! I don't care if it backfired on her or she felt really bad,you don't use it period! And her smug look when she first used it doesn't help matters either.

The lack of consequences: At least she did get a minor calling out but good Lord, she enslaved your minds, you took three seasons to forgive Discord for doing less!

So yeah no I'm not into this episode. I know a ton of you are going to try to say "But Starlight this" and "Starlight that" but that's not going to work. I'm sorry but mind control is such a massive ethical and moral violation that I can't overlook it. That's what I think, if you think anything different fine. I'm not like Starlight and going to try to make you think anything different.
