Is the movie coming to late?

I am of the opinion that Hasbro should have realized the success of this franchise back in 2012 and should've prepared and made a movie then, because it was hot at the time.

I mean yeah, we still have fans and we're still active, but we're like every other fandom now and who knows where the fandom is next year when the movie comes out?

I think having a movie now would make it an appropriate ending. And besides, it's not like the fandom up and died, there's still plenty of Bronies to go around.

The people that left the fandom can still watch the movie. If they don't, well, that's their choice.

The popularity was in 2012...for bronies. You really have no idea how wide spread it is for kids. Walk into an elementary school and look at how many My Little Pony shirts and backpacks you see a day.

You aren't the target audience. They are. And the popularity with them is quite strong.

I mean the shows been going on for almost 6 years and a lot of people that have stopped following the show as of late. Even I kind of stopped watching it. So my question is do you think Hasbro waited to long to release a proper mlp movie?

Do you guys realize that this movie has a way better chance of being successful NOW than years ago? The stigma has worn off and the non-Brony audience has expanded. Think about others who like the franchise and not just the diehard fandom.

Not sure. I hadn't been too deep in the fandom back then

Well, I don't visit elementary schools, but I see enough kids merchandise to tell they are popular among the target audience

I'll actually disagree there, I saw alot more Merchandise on kids during S4 than now. It seems to have entered its twilight years.

2014 (Mid S4) is when I think the best time to have launched a movie, when the Brony fandom hadn't Truly collapsed yet, and when the kids fandom was at a very large amount (S5 I think was about when the Kids fandom Apexed, as its sales have begun to wobble recently and actually dropped a little for pony toys in the last quarter, to say nothing of its crashing Ratings).

Plus, the EQG franchise with RR was at its high point before it slammed into reverse with FG.

WAT?

The stigma is far stronger now than it was at the height of the brony phenomenon, as alot of bronies that left the fandom are very bitter about liking the show in the first place and deride ever having liked it in the first place :/

In other words you just pulled stats out of your ass, no offense.

Hey, no different than the anecdotal evidence of the point I was refuting :P

anecdotal to anecdotal after all.

I'm not sure what stigma you're taking about. People have pretty much gotten over the concept of Bronies except those 20 or so COD fanboys. And those so called "former Bronies" are just either trolls or whiners that never even watched the show regularly in the first place.

Or maybe they just got bored of the show.

On-topic, no, the movie isn't too late. Even if you believe viewership of the show and interest in the franchise has gone down, it should be known that any decrease in activity is subtle and insignificant. The movie will do just as well as it would if it were released earlier.
