Out of the four EG movies, which one is your favorite?

Mine has to be the Friendship Games, although Legend of Everfree came close. The heavy character development that happened in FG is what did it for me, and while there was some of that in LoE, it seemed more about Sci-Twi defeating the "monster inside her" which came off as plot-driven to me.

I know this might be the unpopular opinion but, I like the first Equestria Girls movie the most out of the ones that have been released so far.

Hands down, Rainbow Rocks.

The animation is great, I love the soundtrack and believe it to be Daniel Ingram's best work, the Dazzlings worked really well as antagonists due to how intimidating, intelligent, and charismatic they ended up being.

Sunset Shimmer's character development in the movie is a definite highlight of the franchise.

Also the final battle battle between the Rainbooms and the Dazzlings is probably the best out of what all the villains have gotten.

I would count this film as one my my all time favorite FIM episodes if it can be counted as that.

My list is:

  1. Rainbow Rocks
  2. Legend of Everfree
  3. Equestria Girls
  4. Friendship Games

RR is the undisputed champion of the films, with the best music, best villains, wonderful pace and a stunning finale. Everfree is a close second with a solidly written script and well fleshed out characters. Also, the romance is top notch and is done incredibly well. Equestria Girls is good in of itself, and I love the humor of horse Twily adapting to humanity. The romance there is okay but way more flat than in Everfree.

Friendship Games is good, but my big problem is what Everfree solved: there was no hint that Twilight was going to go magic hungry and evil. If she had a resentment or a desire to fight the bullies at her school, then there would have been some motivation. Tara's acting was great, but it seems out of place. That scene is done incredibly well though, especially with Sunset's transformation. However, she already had her reformation solidified in Rainbow Rocks when she joined the band the beat the sirens, so the tension there was a little unnecessary. Basically., Friendship Games (with some really catchy songs, especially ACADECA), serves to set up human Twilight Sparkle which leads to a much better movie, Legend of Everfree.

That's how I see it at least.

For plot/storyline, Friendship Games is my favorite, by far. I felt that the Sci-Twi character development was so well done, and the contests were fun to watch. One of my favorite scenes was when AJ taught Sci-Twi how to do archery.

For music, Rainbow Rocks is my favorite. The music in Legend of Everfree were descent, though none of them really stood out to me.

Though the first movie was my least favorite, I can't blame the writers or developers. Twilight Sparkle was entering a whole new world, so she had to start somewhere. The Prom Queen plot may have been a bit cliche, but the "new kid on the block" had to get recognized somehow. I praise the writers for having Sunset Shimmer as the villain, for it set the stage for all the great moments between her and Sci-Twi and the other villains.

What's most important to me is storyline, though, so I voted FG.

Rainbow Rocks is easily my favorite movie of the series. Sunset's character development was great, going from one of the worst villains thus far to one of my all-time favorite characters in the franchise. The music was great, the villains were actually competent and had to be truly defeated in a battle, and it gave rise to my number one preferred ship, SunLight, in what I consider to be the best scene in the movie, the scene in which Sunset and Twilight talk about their fears in Pinkie's kitchen.

My second favorite is Friendship Games. I mainly liked the fact that the magic seemed to behave itself normally for once, while at the same time the plot of a competition between two schools was pretty enjoyable, even more so because SciTwi was in Crystal Prep. The song Unleash the Magic became actually pretty chilling at its end, and the confrontation between Sunset and SciTwi was a great mirror to EQG. Another point I count in its favor, despite not showing up in the movie itself, is the duet between Sunset and SciTwi of What More Is Out There? and the deleted scene in which Sunset confesses to missing Equestria. I really hope they'll make something of that in a future movie.

Third on my list is Legend of Everfree. It was fun to see the characters in a different setting than school for a change, but sadly the magic went full retard again in this one. I'd have liked to see a bit more development of Gloriosa's problems with Filthy Rich because as it stands, her turn to well-intentioned extremist was a bit flimsy. I liked Sunset's interaction with SciTwi as she tries to get her to embrace her inner magic, showing that she's still the unicorn prodigy she once was inside, only without the bitterness that caused her to end up in the human world in the first place. I also liked the moment where Sunset reads Pinkie's mind and just comments, "That explains so much." The confrontation with Midnight Sparkle, if you could call it that, could have been done better, and the takedown of Gloriosa wasn't as strong as the fights of the prior two movies.

Lastly, the original EQG. It was enjoyable, sure, but it just wasn't very good. As much as I love Sunset, she was an absolutely terrible villain. A cardboard cutout could have done the job better. The same went for Flash Sentry, whose presence was incredibly forced and wooden. High school apparently equals shallow love interests to Hasbro. I did like the music in it, though, so even this movie still has its redeeming qualities. Retroactively, the best thing to come out of this movie was its sequel, so that's another point in its favor.

Definitely Rainbow Rocks currently, given I haven't seen LoE yet. But it'll have to be frickin' fantastic to beat out RR. Reasons? You want reasons? Well, I want a million dollars. We can't all have what we want. :P

  1. Friendship Games. I had a hard time deciding between this one and RR, but the plot of this movie was better in my opinion. While Cinch wasn't as great as a villain as the sirens, I liked how evil she was without being an ancient magical creature, and Unleash The Magic is easily the best song of the EqG series, speaking of the music, while it's not RR level it's still pretty awesome. Sunset was awesome in this movie, my favorite scenes are when Sunset gets angry at Twilight for using magic without understanding how it works, and the defeat of Midnight Sparkle. Another thing I liked about the movie were the humane 5, a usual problem with the EqG movies is that they usually don't do anything important and aren't as enjoyable as they are in the series, but in this movie they all got their moment to shine on their own. Spike was good as well.

Rainbow Rocks. This movie is pure awesomeness, simple as that. The villains were great, the songs were extremely good, Sunset became one of the best characters of the franchise, and the conflict was really good and well handled, which made it really satisfactory when Sunset overcame her problems in the end. My favorite scene of the entire Equestria Girls franchise is when Twilight and Sunset were talking in the dark, it was really touching, everything from the voice acting, to the animation, the background music, to Maud randomly appearing out of nowhere was really well done.

Equestria Girls. Yeah, objectively this is probably the worst of the bunch, and I'm probably biased by the nostalgia of this movie reminding me of my first days in the fandom (although at some point I despised this movie), but I find it really enjoyable to watch. My favorite thing about it is Spike's characterization, which is something that sadly is not as good in the other movies, I also liked the music. This movie has a lot of flaws, like Sunset's characterization, Brad, Snips and Snails, and the way the conflict was resolved, but they don't really bother me so much anymore. In the end all I ask is to be entertained and this movie succeeds at it despite everything.

Legend Of Everfree. As I said, all I ask is to be entertained, and that's something the movie was failing to do a lot of times, so that's why I decided Equestria Girls was better. The movie was good though, I liked the new love interest (at least better than Flash), the two main conflicts were interesting, and I loved the last part of the movie, that's when it became great. The new scenery was awesome, when I wasn't entertained by the plot I started looking at the landscape, and both the cave and Midnight Sparkle's defeat are among the most visually impressive things of the franchise. This movie also has a lot of flaws, like minor stories that weren't so interesting, the humane 5 acting kind of generic, Spike being reduced to just being a dog and Filthy Rich being evil because businessman and the plot demanded it.

rainbow rocks, hooves down.

was a little reluctant when it was first announced that the mane 6 could all do music and that the stereotyping was put there too, but the film was well written, the soundtrack was absolutely insane and is still the best one, the visuals were so good and I adore the Dazzlings as villians. plus there was more pony screen time! at least it felt like it at the start. aaaand Sunset's first time as a good guy and I really do like her reformed more than the evil one.

i think the only things i didnt like in it were Trixie's song....still dont really like it that much, the fact that Celestia and Luna are pretty useless and cant defend themselves in anyway in this EQG world. Theyre immortal beings in Equestria for goodness sake. and my main dislike for this one was Fluttershy. couldnt they have given her an actual instrument that requires skill to play? a Tambourine just argh! annoys me so much. you cant really make them cool or give them solos. that bit where they pony up at the end, wtf all her solo was was it being shaken longer than normal >.< hate it. give her a mandolin!

1.) Rainbow Rocks

2.) Friendship Games

3.) Legend of Everfree

4.) EQG

Friendship Games is a worthy foe for Rainbow Rocks Friendship Games has songs  I have burned in my mind like RR.

Legend of Everfree isn't bad, I didn't like the plot all that much. But Embrace the Magic, Midnight in Me and Stand for Everfree are A+ songs. The first EQG to me is average and I prefer Sunset as a heroine. EQG has a great soundtrack though.

For a long time, Friendship Games was my favourite, but now that has been replaced with Legend of Everfree. I still watch Rainbow Rocks on occasion although not to the same extent as its sequels. The original Equestria Girls is one I'd rarely watch because of certain issues.

  1. Rainbow Rocks.  The tightest Equestria Girls, with only three main conflicts, each of which was tightly intertwined with the others. The Dazzlings are really fun villains and the songs are top-notch, and the humour is in par with some of the show's best episodes. As much praise has been placed on Sunset's (excellent) character development, just as much credit needs to be given to Twilight's arc, which in many ways runs parallel to Sunset's and comes closer to moving Twilight's new princess status in the direction I want than anything in the show. And like many others, I found this movie turning Sunset from a modestly entertaining villain to one of my favourite characters in the entire franchise. The sleepover scene is excellent for a number of reasons, but I think the biggest one for me is just that I wanted some sort of mane six party scene for ages  before this movie came along.

Friendship Games. Arguably the messiest of the films, but compensates for that with a whole lot of compelling ideas, and many bizarre plot points which make the film a lot of fun. The high school motocross, for instance? Total blast. Twilight going crazy with magic? Doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but really fun as well. Unfortunately, Sunset Shimmer's character arc feels underdeveloped, and Twilight's could have been a bit more fleshed out as well. At the same time, SciTwi is delightful, and I really enjoyed Sunset's dealings with uncertainty as well. I especially liked the one scene where she lashed out at SciTwi, as I felt that established continuity with her past self. Also of note: This is the film which solidified my SunLight shipping from "oh, they'd be cute together!" to "Sunset has a crush and I cannot be convinced otherwise."

Equestria Girls. Too much cringe comedy, and a lot of stuff that doesn't make sense if I apply any real thought to it, but in its own awkward, lightweight, and generic way, this film is still somewhat entertaining. I sort of flip flop on how tolerable I find it, but right now I think it's pretty watchable, if also deeply uninspiring. The romance takes so little focus that it might as well not exist, Sunset Shimmer is a perfectly serviceable villain, and having Twilight bring the mane six back together is kinda neat. Without the scenes of Twilight embarrassing herself by trying to act like a pony, I'd consider this completely harmless - heck, even with that, it still mostly is.

Legend of Everfree. I'm honestly not sure if I'll ever watch this again, because I was bored out of my mind. Twilight's arc is meandering and repetitive, but the film never properly engages with it - are her fears legitimate, or not? If they're not, why are we spending so much time on them? Is this film a camp hangout movie, a superhero origin story, or a serious take on the effects of the last film? It's not a whole lot more focused than Friendship Games, and it's a whole lot less fun - most of the humour relies on especially shallow versions of the mane 5's personalities, and the rest of it is extremely mild. Sunset's become awfully bland as well, not unlike Twilight from the show, and the romance between SciTwi and Timber, while charming, is barely given any time. I just didn't like this one at all.

My favorite is Friendship Games, with Rainbow Rocks as a close second.  Friendship Games had a good story and Sunset's character came full circle.  Rainbow Rocks had the music.

What can I say, I love the Dazzlings. Aria has become a center focus for me, she s the 90s women I need in my life. And sundagio is best ship...that said.

I have to say LoE. loE, was a COMPLETE film. I am in love with it, and Raritys line (best pony/human) of "you are a light darling, a force for good!" Was way to real when I was reborn as a.soldier of the light and a warrior of god, I felt my waifu was talking to me, lol.

That aside, I loved RR for really only two things , that Dazzlings and sunsets struggle. The theme of these films IS sunset shimmer. These films WILL keep getting better as long as she is the focus, the moment she is taken from center stage, its all over.

Also, the songs....the freaking songs....so good. And I do enjoy Rarolitys massive development from 1 to 4...hug her An, Rarijack is real!

So I'm not sure if I like equestria girls more or rainbow rocks. (Excuse my bad grammar)

So first of all I HATE sci-twilight i feel like shes a fake and she just joined the gang because real twilight taught them friendship. I HATE how the 3rd and 4th movie don't have the real twilight in it. For rainbow rocks i like the plot more but its like sunset shimmer is the new main character and I hate how she joins the friendship magic group thing because they were the original and its like she better than the rest of them because she stood in the center with twilight and her color red stood out in the rainbow the most, she should just be a side important character like the dj girl/pony (love her! ! <3) Going back to fake twilight then I feel like shes just stealing everyone from the real twilight and she just replaces real twilight spot in the 3rd and 4th movie. In camp of everfree then sunset shimmer told flash century to get over twilight !!!! And then she supports sci-twilight and camp director. LIKE NO! I can't even explain how much I hate the sci-twilight. So I probably like the 1st movie the most.

P.s.

If there is a duplicate of all of them shouldn't there be a duplicate of sunset shimmer since she was originally a pony?

isn't it obvious?

1. Rainbow Rocks
2. Legend of Everfree
3. Friendship Games
4. Equestria Girls

Rainbow Rocks: Do I even need to explain why this one is the best? First of all, the Dazzlings were SO WELL WRITTEN I CAN'T STRESS THIS ENOUGH. And *cough cough* Adagio is HOT. Ahem anyways, the fact that Adagio doesn't even really have a plan and works off of other's mistakes and failures is just SO SMART AND SHE IS JUST AWESOME AND THEY ALMOST DEFEAT THE RAINBOOMS except for a certain bacon haired waifu picking up the mic. To be honest, The Dazzlings are the best villains ever and NO ONE CAN CHANGE MY MIND. Also this movie centers around Sunset's character development, and this serves as the transition into her better self. The plot IS AMAZING, the songs ARE JUST THE BEST THINGS I'VE EVER HEARD IN MY ENTIRE LIFE KJHSDKHJSHJ. EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS MOVIE WAS JUST INCREDIBLY WELL DONE OMG.

Legend of Everfree: THE SHIPPING OH MY GODDDDDDDDDDD. The sciset scenes made me squeal like a little child. I'm not even kidding. Anyways though, I gotta admit Gloriosa Daisy was kinda a "eh" antagonist. Anyways the shipping was just a YES for me. AND THE RARIJACK HEHEHEHEH.

Friendship Games: I don't really care much for the songs here but the plot was ok. BUT DAYDREAM SHIMMER AND MIDNIGHT SPARKLE WERE AWESOME NGL. And of course, here is where sciset began. And don't forget the rarijack moments in here too. I hate Principal Cinch and what she made Twilight do. But overall, it was fun to watch.

Equestria Girls: Yes the first movie. It kinda started everything out and how Twilight brought the human counterparts of her friends back together. It is enjoyable to watch, but I really hate how Sunset acts in this movie. Of course she gets better but looking back on this movie, she really was terrible. She was also kind of a terrible antagonist as well
