Do you think the elements of harmony will be in the movie?

So, here's a question: Do you think the EOH will play a prominent role in the movie or make a return, or do you think the movie will completely eschew it and do its own thing instead without any reference to the past involvement of the elements of harmony?

I'd prefer if they didn't make use of the Elements to laserblast the villain into submission, again. Acknowledging them and the tasks the Mane 6 accomplished with them would be nice, though.

 

If they do play a role - or if the Tree of Harmony plays a role - I'd rather that it's used as a "power booster" instead of an "I win" button. Boosting the powers of the Mane 6, allowing them to complete their final trial, whatever that may be. I haven't watched EQG: Legends of Everfree yet, but I've heard how the Mane 6 get special powers there, perhaps the EoH/ToH can give them those special powers here too.

 

Another thing that could happen is that the villain corrupts them and uses them against the Mane 6, and the Mane 6 have to purify them before they can use 'em.

Anyways, on this subject, I fully 100% expect them to NOT show up; the original script for the movie, from what I read, had something to do with the villain trying to get ahold of elemental stones that control things like water, fire, earth, ect.

So I don't think they'll have the EOH show up but rather be about fighting over new macguffins of some kind.

I could at least see the Tree of Harmony making some kind of appearance in the film.

I feel like the tree will make some kind of appearance considering its importance but I feel like the elements themselves have run their course. I suppose it could be a neat throwback to the first few seasons but if they would use them to Fus Ro Pony an enemy and win, it just wouldn't be interesting. Make an appearance? Fine. Be used? I would prefer them not to be.

I think they will show up in the movie, probably in a way very much related to the plot. The Elements have always been MacGuffins of plot advancement anyway, so why should this time be different? The Tree itself might prove to be key in the plot of the movie, or failing that the Map might send them on their way. I don't think they'll be kept out entirely, though.

If the movie is going to act as the 'curtain call' for the show, which may be possible, I'd say almost defiantly. It's unknown what kind of role they would play but seeing how the Elements and the Tree of Harmony have been important components in the series I'm not sure why they wouldn't be involved. I'd certainly like to have a conclusion where the mane six don't use the rainbow friendship laser, but I do like the possibility of something flashy to happen with them by the end in one way or another. It would probably tie into something at the end inevitably, but we'll have to wait and see.

One thing that makes me wonder about the EOH is that bringing in the "Mainstream" crowd is a major goal of movies, which usually means keeping continuity low and making it as easy to digest as possible: that means they'd want to probably avoid previous macguffins in favor of new ones, since that way they'd be explained by the plot fully instead of having to explain previous plotpoints.

 

Due to that, I can see them using the concepts of the EOH (Explain that the mane six exemplify honesty, loyalty, kindness, ect.) but have them get Stand ins for the EOH from a completely different source than the tree of harmony.

I don't know, they seem to have realized that EOH were kind of fan favorites as macguffins since they went and gave the mane seven EOH necklaces in legend of everfree and made a Toys R Us toyline focusing on the EOH.

I can see them rebranding the EOH to make them "New", but I think the staff probably have realized they were too well liked to jettison completely IMO.

I don't think they will revisit the EOH as they were. I do however strongly feel the TOH will play an important in the future, whether in S7 leading up to the film, or in the film itself. Just as the elements themselves made a radical change by re-merging with the TOH, so to do I think the tree itself will undergo a metamorphosis into an entirely new representation of the elements/forces of harmony. There is still a lot of potential with the sisters old castle and just because they have not needed the EOH lately does not mean they are no longer needed at all. I suspect they will go forward and just re-imagine the EOH themselves and how they tie in to the Mane 6 themselves.

 

Honestly I get the feeling they have a huge plan for all of it and it will surprise a lot of viewers if not frustrate a great majority currently. After the film S8 will deal with the ramifications of those changes and really allow the characters to settle into their new destinies.

 

Just a hunch I suppose, but I can easily see the pieces for it all falling into place,
