Equestria's Creatures

What creatures from mythology do you want be given the MLP twist and included into the universe?

For me I really, really want season six to have sea ponies in it. I'm a sucker for any water-related creature <3

And speaking of water creatures, and I know this is probably way too dark for MLP to do, but I LOVE Kelpies and I would love Kelpies to be in MLP. like a Kelpie Queen and her, say army of Kelpies to be the villains and invade Equestria's seas and rivers for reasons? Or going with the original Kelpie myths, wanting to stealing away all the colts and fillies magic/souls? .... I don't know but a girl can wish xD

It would be interesting to see the animators' take on Catoblepas. I think this creature fits the universe. However, I'm sure that the creators can surprise us with some really exotic or original creatures - you can expect anything after the Manbearpig bugbear.

I actually would like to see more of their own ideas such as Timberwolves and the like. Something grand an unique... not found in other stories. Maybe their own take on large majestic creatures inspired by dinosaurs and the like. If they do start hitting more mythological and fantasy creatures from D&D I would like to see stuff like Bulettes (just because land Sharks have always been awesome to me), Golems, Elementals and Sphinx. Maybe more creatures from the underworld, or horrific beasts like Scylla or Echidna from mythology.

Ohhh, I just had to stop by this thread! <3

I would LOVE to see the incorporation of Kirin into the show. I'm not referring to the offspring of a pony and a dragon, but to the original myth itself: The Kirin as its own independent species (with the physical features of the horse/unicorn, deer, and dragon), and an elusive creature that protects nature and aids good rulers in times of need.

We already have deer in the comics and books, so it would be a neat addition to add in the White Stag, or Hart. It is characterized as a lone and very rare creature. It is often depicted as a guide or wish-granter, if one is so lucky to get close to it.

Hehe, this reminds me...from the Grand List of Things Hasbro Won't Let a Brony Do in a Fangame:

136) Any additional fantastic hooved creatures I want to add to Equestria must pass inspection.  Centicores (creatures who are more or less to goats what unicorns are to horses) are okay.  Heithrun, the goal of Valhalla from Norse myth whose teats produce mead instead of milk, is not okay.

350) Remember #136, any new fantasy hooved creatures must pass inspection?  The Red Bull from the novel The Last Unicorn is also out, and as per 137, defeating, ingesting, or receiving a blessing from it cannot give anyone wings.

508) Any fantasy races I want to bring in from Dungeons and Dragons must pass inspection.  The Rhek, a good race of creatures who are to rhinos what minotaurs are to bulls, are okay.  Mind Flayers, an evil race of squid-faced, psychic creatures, are definitely NOT okay.

Hehehe...seriously, though, I think Centicores/Yales would be a good addition; they'd be like goats with magic in their swivelly horns, and they'd show that ponies aren't the only hooved creatures that come in different forms.

I would like to see more creatures based on the constellations: we have seen Ursa Major and Minor, I would love to see a ponified version of Andromeda, Apus, Aquila...

I'm totally down for more of their original ideas. Not stuff hijacked from other mythology. Be creative.

or Algol, Sirius, Saiph, Hatsya....

would be awesome if they came up with something that related to Slepneir or Epona, since theyre equines in mythology, could have the Original Greek Pegasus mentioned?

Or go a different route and do their own light hearted take on the Mares of Diomedes. or the Nuckelavee. They would be interesting antagonists within the series.

They already have placed Cerberus in the context of the show, so I think adding Sleipnir could be made to work as well.

I also really like the idea of giving constellations physical embodiments as well. I think there is a lot of creativity that could be done with ideas like that and very much keep to the spirit of the show.

I doubt that the producers would dare to do this, but I think it would be cool to see some pony deities.

I suppose you could argue that Celestia and Luna are goddesses and that Discord is a trickster/chaos god, but I'm talking about really powerful deities (like Zeus, Odin, Ra, et cetera).

I'm also waiting for them to feature zombie ponies (the "zombies" from "28 Pranks Later" don't count). I mean, Spike mentioned them in the first episode for crying out loud!

Twilight said she didn't believe they were real, but she has been wrong before.

Zombie Ponies... The writers successfully danced around the horror implications of Vampires in Bats, I think they could do as awesome a job with Zomb-ponies too.

The only problem is, for them to truly tackle "zombies" they would have to tackle corpses and true death. Something I think the writers will steer pretty clear of. I am well aware that zombies myths involve more than that, but you would still have people calling them fake zombies or just calling it mind control unless they went with the well known cliche of the dead rising from the grave trope and creating the more traditional "undead" zombie.

Personally I would love to see the undead in MLP.... but I just suspect the writers won't touch it in that regard unless they went the mind control route or some such.
