A trio among the brothers of the Mane 6

I came across this MLP fan video on YouTube called "Brothers." and it gave me a possible new idea to use for the show. 

 

Suppose they made a three way friendship between Shining Armor, Big Macintosh and Zephyr Breeze: The brothers of Twilight, Applejack and Fluttershy respectively.

 

I know they already have a sibling trio with the CMC, but this is just a hunch of a way to use the brothers in a way that would seem fresh and could develop their characters as well as interaction between them. 

 

As far as a purpose for the brothers. I'm still a little sketchy on what to do with them. Maybe they could seek out heroic stuff to do on a smaller scale than that of the Mane 6. 

 

How well do you think this concept could work?

 Also, wouldn't Shining be busy running the Crystal Empire and you know...raising a baby? I somehow doubt these three would form a heroic trio. But an episode with the three of them could be interesting. Maybe something like the Sisterhooves social, with all three of them competing alongside their sisters.

You got good points, and Big Mac does all the heavy lifting on the farm.

 

As for ideas though, I think it needs to be something that they are called towards or a guy's night theme. Sure, Spike and Big have one, now including Discord... But you could potentially make it so the brothers are brought along with their sisters to a gathering and they talk, but end up getting sidetracked on an adventure of sorts...

Interesting thought, but the ideas are limited to your creativity and ability to make sense able situations.

I could see Big Mac and Shining Armor bonding over Ogres and Oubliettes though . If Ogres and Oubliettes made it from the comics to the show, I don't see why it Shining Armor wouldn't have played in in case the comics aren't canon

I could see that working for the two of them bonding, yeah. Maybe Twilight and AJ trying to get their brother's to bond over a shared interest? If we still want to include Zephyr, Fluttershy would know about the game now from Discord so she could drag him along to try and make some new friends.

 

 Maybe the sisters could play too, in that case. I think I remember Twilight played the game in the comics as well.

It would be nice to have an episode where a team of guys saves the day. We a have a basis with the guy's night trio and endless possibilities of something going wrong in Ogres and Oubliettes with Discord. Addition of Shining for one episode seems quite possible and even logical, and Zephyr… well, we could have some character development with him.

Minus Zephyr and this is an awesome idea. Emphasis on the 'minus Zephyr' thing. He is just a terrible and unlikable character to me and I hate that he had to be the brother for Flutters. Unless of course they could shine some positive light on him by having him interact with two other stallions, but right now my opinion for him is tainted.

 

So for now, Big Mac and Shining bonding, would be awesome. :3

Seriously, though, I'm sure it could be explored. We already had a sort of brotherhood with Discord, Spike and Big Mac, so this isn't much further of step to take. It couldn't make a whole show, but a few episodes, yeah, that would probably work fine.

I think Shining would have been perfect for the "guys night" episode. but for real... Shining and Big Mac maybe doing some adventuring together..... yes please! Trade Soarin in for Zephyr because unless they somehow did something amazing with his character, I just imagine him bringing the quality of any story they try to write down heavily. They could also add in Doctor Whooves for the comedic straight man touch if necessary. That who be a great episode to mix into the season.

 

Zephyr... just no... I imagine any adventure he was along the ride for would consist of him whining and bitching and annoying the other characters which in turn would annoy the viewers. In fact the only thing I could see him doing well in is maybe having an obnoxiousness contest with Prince Blueblood , Sky Stinger and Quibble. Maybe they can turn him around next season or something with an episode, but I would hate to have that challenge.

It could be the opportunity to show that Zephyr has changed. Sure, he was whiny and all, but also self-loathing to a certain extent. After being pushed by Fluttershy and finally managing to get something, finally feeling useful to society, I'm pretty Zephyr has changed. He'd still be a bit overbearing of course, but not as a whiny dude. More like the guy trying to be the life of the party after becoming happy with what he's become. It'd certainly go well with the silent Big Mac, and Shining Armor would be the somewhat serious type - unless ofc for the occasion, they decide to show him as a stallion, not as a guard or Cadance's loved one.

Having friends brothers that have nothing in common and live in different places become friends is just contrived. I would like them to be developed and more male friendships but I do not see this kind of trip working. Big Mac should just have continue friendship with Spike and Shining should become friends with Sunburst I feel. And Zephyr can show up again but I do not think he is a regular charcater material really.

I can imagine this happening. Big Mac, Shining Armor, Zephyr Breeze. It would have to be an episode that ties them together based on their sisters though.

Shining Armor would be the corny boy scout leader, Big Mac would rarely talk and merely mutter yep or nope maybe have some weird quirks, and Zephyr would be the one to keep causing trouble and is the chatty type. Perfect group to throw down some adventures.

This should happen. They're pretty different characters, so that could allow for some great scripts.
