Do you, have you or are you planning on using a VPN service?

 

I've been using FrootVPN for a while, I first got it cause it was a Swedish service and I wanted to try it out. Lately I've been getting slower speeds and there hasn't been much I could do about it so I'm looking into getting another one. At first I mainly used it while downloading torrents but nowaday I don't really torrent stuff anymore but DDoS attacks on multiplayer games has become an issue instead so I need something with more reliable servers.

I really don't have an interest in VPNs - but I have used them in the past. If I wanna stay anonymous (for real) - I'd use my own tunneling - Cisco has some nice applications to use...

I used one in China to get around the censorship and I used to use it to access US Netflix but that was before Netflix blocked the VPNs.

 

I would use a VPN service to get US netflix in the UK but apparently it gets your netflix banned. It's not worth the risk.

 

Doesn't get your Netflix banned but Netflix have blocked out pretty much every VPN. Videos will refuse to play if you're using a VPN.

It's really annoying no legit way to watch mlp.

I have to use VPN because a lot of anime/mlp related sites are blocked because government thinks that anime and mlp=underage. I use free ones tho

I don't use any VPN. I do have access to one if I need.

You probably mean (for not using VPN).
Torrents are not illegal by themselves, unless the country you are in has decided they just are because it is easier.

I someone wants to sue you for using a torrent, they have to be able to prove a lot, like how they got your IP address in the first place, and if you downloaded 100% of the files. Those things requires "someone" to also be downloading the same torrent (potentially uploading illegal data to trap you), doing the same potential illegal action. That "someone" managed to not get sued? What if that "someone" is the one suing you? Was the website you downloaded the torrent from actively logging your IP (which still can't prove you downloaded 100% of the files from the torrent), and sold the information for profit? ISP and VPN actions can lead o the same thing: An ISP must give out your IP to authorities or whatever (I don't know the rules, they are different), and VPN are obviously made to keep your IP and personal information a secret, making your actions more illegal to authorities if they find out what you are doing, and can your VPN really be trusted? I have heard about VPN that got hacked, and all information was leaked.
