(GOH) Aren't Straight fight wins antithetical to the show's Paradigm?

Thinking about the show, and how they're launching a Guardians of harmony toyline revolving around armor/fighting...

Isn't Defeating the villains or antagonists in a Straight fight antithetical to how the show operates? Nothing against it, but in EVERY big crisis in the show the villains have NEVER been defeated by just fighting them, but always through a deus ex machina style magical event revolving around Friendship or love.

 

For example, S5's Finale: Chrysalis was defeated by her changelings all Deciding "Screw this I'm going lovebug" and everyone turning into redeemed changelings-- In Canterlot wedding, the mane six fighting the changelings accomplished nothing but it was a Giant love blast from Shining and cadence that defeated them.
Tirek? the DBZ fight did nothing, it was the EOH giant rainbow thing that saved the day; Discord, EOH rainbow lasers as well. The closest thing to them having a fight save the day was in Friendship games since it was an actual Fight between Sunset and twilight (even if it did resolve itself with her offering twilight her hand in friendship after the fight was over) and not just a rainbow laser instant win.

Heck, the only real "Fight saves the day" ending in a 100% way was power ponies.

 

 

So we've NEVER had the villains beaten by actually getting into a fight with them (Outside the comics), with it always relying on a relatively non-violent Rainbow instant win or other event. As such, isn't the premise of guardians of harmony, focusing on weapons, armor and getting into nitty gritty fights to fix things against the grain of how the Show's worked till now?
Not that I would be opposed to some fights where its the group working together with bonds of friendship giving them the strength to overcome, it just seems, thinking about it, that Such a tactic is counter to how the show's worked for 6 seasons.

It's a toyline, not the show. Lots of toylines introduce radical concepts that often have nothing to do with what you may see in a cartoon or a comic book. You could easily argue these figures are just a gimmick to get a larger audience into the toyline. Sure it goes against some of what the show stands for... but really I think Hasbro is banking on the idea that more and more people are getting into them, and they want to offer something besides just cute little sweet natured ponies just to maximize their potential audience. They are expanding their demographic in the toy aisles, and only time will tell how all that will work out and if it will effect the cartoon itself.

Maybe H-Bro’s just taking their X-Pone for a quick spin to see how the market reacts to some good old school action in a franchise made for little girls. Think of it as an experiment for future investment that can as such disregard show’s original message. Why surely FIM won’t be affected by the result, but MLP as a whole might be. Still, I don’t think it will amount to much in the end as it would seem that differentiating interests via gender is not just a product of cis white colonist ableist racist lgbtq-phobic male scum to keep them women and minorities down.

 

Me, I’m always up for a good high fantasy brawl if one can provide it. Friendship magic is overrated.

I'd be fine with it myself, and would find it refreshing; I just note that there has yet to be a SINGLE instance of a straight fight ever solving the problems in FIM outside a couple really small (and Divisive) events in the comics (The Conclusion of Issue 4, the cattle rustlers arc or The Deer arc are the only situations where fights solved the problems-- Which had the issues of the other 5 being cheerleaders while Twilight Godmoded for issue 4, the other 5 being useless until twilight solved everything with a flick of her hoof in the cattle rustlers, and the villain being terrible in the Deer arc)

Nothing really tells us they will win the final fight through brute force or tricking their enemies. The mane six have fought with brute force before and won some but it never resolved the issue. If they do fight it will probably just lead up to the end but not finish it.

 

But who knows that could happen this one time.

If it got to do with the show or the movie with authentic action and fight to beat the villain rather the "magic or friendship or love" THEN I would be very very thrilled  to see that. since it good to have something new once in a while. So better make it happen!

Yeah, it’s a pipe dream. Pony just isn’t made for this. We probably won’t see anything we haven’t seen before: some bad action scenes to promote toys and a friendship rainbow bomb at the end. Maybe they’ll try to be extra creative and force Mane 6 into damsel roles again. Degrading original heroes is all the rage these days. Hail Sheep!
