gaming [POTENTIAL SPOILERS] The most emotional game you've played?

I'd like to know what game managed to hit you emotionally.  Tag your spoilers please!

For me, it's probably Explorers of Sky because:

The entire game (at least for me) shows the beauty of existence.  You're not some special chosen one, you're just a human who was turned into a pokemon.  You befriend your partner and really bond with him/her.  It shows that you don't need to be special in order to save time and space.  You just need to be motivated.  Scenes like Grovyle's sacrifice at Temporal Tower and your character's death and resserection before the post-game story are just wonderful..

I want to say Ori & the Blind Forest I WANT to say, but I can't because the gamepad support is really convoluted and doesn't really work

Yes! I love this game! I cried at the beginning of it, and the only problem I really had with gamepad support was the directions when trying to use bash and such, but other than that, it is one beautiful game!

The other for me would be Dust: an Elysian Tail! OMG!! THE ENDING!! (and Fidget is just so adorably cute!) I'd love a Fidget plush and for this game to actually become a movie, possibly even directed by Don Bleuth

I have not played any of those games above. Now I am curious.

For me personally some games that hit with an emotional punch in certain scenes.

Chrono Cross

Breath of Fire 4

The Last of Us

Shadow of the Colossus

Final Fantasy 7

FF: Crisis Core

I am sure I am forgetting some.

Almost all video games I've played don't make me feel emotional about what happens in the story, yet there was one game that did manage to do that to me, Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem. I still get choked a little every time a chapter is complete because of the fates of all the characters involved in the story.

This may sound a little weird, but the latest expansion of World of Warcraft really did a good job of anchoring the player's heart in the characters and the narrative.  There were actually times playing it where I was honestly, truly emotionally exhausted because of the revelations that happened!  There were also time when I laughed out loud, not in reaction to a joke, but in triumph, because I honestly expected a sad ending and got a happy one instead!

@@greenflare,

SOME ONE ELSE PLAYS MYSTERY DUNGEON :D

I loved Sky. Super PMD was a close second though.

As for most emotional game, I would have to say Spec Ops: The Line.... that game, if you dont know, is a modern re-imagining of Heart of Darkness. It punched me in the gut and had me spinning at the end. I actually had to put the game down when you use the white phosphorus...

Do you feel like a hero yet ?

I haven't really played many games that have a lot of emotional qualities to them. The only one I can really think of is ori and the blind forest. I loved that game. The beginning made me feel really sad.

I know right! You ought to play Dust: An Elysian Tale, it's a really beautiful game

I find some shows and videos have an easier time making me emotional than video games can

the best recent examples being

Shelter (the short anime film/music video) [MUST WATCH]

Crusaders Of The Lost Mark

and for some reason... Cells REAL death in DBZ (I think its mainly the music there)

But there are some games that have made me emotional too

Final Fantasy VIII

Ace Attorney- Spirit of Justice

Ace Attorney- Trials and Tribulations

I really wish I could give more examples here but I'm trying to think of games that have either made me cry or made me react to events and twists in a way as if I was really there. If a game wants to make me cry it needs to work real hard to do so and everything has to be spot on. All of these three games had at least one of those things. Music is easiest to get me with, if there is an emotional or heartfelt enough song playing in the background of the right scene it can still make me cry even with no lyrics.

There are games that had the opportunity to make me feel something but did very little in that regard like Fallout 3

It gives your character and by extension you no time after your fathers suicide to cool down and actually digest what happened. The dialogue of your character after the event indicates a 19 year old who seems to have no reaction to literally watching his father kill himself to fight for what he held dear. Right after that scene the game expects you to gun down Enclave soldiers while escaping the Jefferson Memorial like wow really?

Fallout 4 did this kind of setup slightly better I mean there is cooldown after watching your baby get kidnapped and your sponse get shot but there is only so much a game like Fallout can do to get you emonionataly invested in that.

The most emotional games i have played are Undertale, Silent Hill 3 and Obscure.

All three of them had Scenes, that were emotional and in Undertale and Silent Hill 3 i even cried.

I dont remember if i reacted that emotional to Silent Hill 4 the first time i played but after playing it and then listening to the Theme Song again and actually understanding the meaning of it, its pretty sad.

I guess for me it would be "The Talos Principle", "Braid", "Asphyxia", "Dear Esther", "Bioshock Infinite" and probably a few more I forgot about! Most 'emotional' things about them is story, how much I cared about the plot and characters and what emotions some of those games evoked inside of me. And boy some of those games hit hard :o
