What's your favorite season so far?

This is a very difficult question to answer. Each of the seasons of MLP have their own strengths and weaknesses that make them stand out. I will say that i've enjoyed the later seasons (4,5,6) more than the earlier ones (3,2,1) due to the evolving nature of the series.

For me, it's a toss up between seasons 5 and 6. I like the episodes in S6 more, but the music in S5 was much better in my opinion. I won't spoil anything since you are still at the tail end of the 1st season. All i'll tell you is to fasten your seatbelt because you're gonna be in for a wild ride  :pinkie:

A tough question considering each season had its share of good and bad episodes, but if I were to choose one, it would have to be season four. Why? Because my favourite episode, "The Equestria Games" occurred during that season.

There wasn't a single bad episode in season 1

Season 2 felt like the writers forgot who the audience was

Season 3 had absolute garbage tier writing

Season 4 to me is what season 2 should have been

I gave up after that season

Every season is great, but my personal favorite has to be season 5. Most episodes are really good and the tone of the show was a little bit more mature in this one, but it still was pretty funny and had a lot of light-hearted moments.

Season 1 has a very consistent quality, it starts alright but slowly increases, and the second half was almost flawless.

Season 2 started as great as season 1 ended, but its quality wasn't as consistent.

Season 3 was short and experimental, it feels unfair to compare it to the other two seasons, so I'll just say that it was good. It has my favorite episode.

Season 4 was a kind of mixed bag, a lot of the best and most memorable moments, as well as the worst and most forgettable come from this one.

Season 5 was great and I already said why. It has my least favorite episode though.

Season 6 felt like a less ambitious but more experimental continuation of season 5, it payed off for the most part, I enjoyed it a lot.

Season 2. It was still rather grounded, the episodes were some of the best quality and they had hit their stride. It was also the most consistent season in tone and lore.

Also they hadn't gotten to the part where the two-parters and SoL stuff felt so disconnected from each other. Here you could see the SoL stuff in the two-parter and they felt like they were a part of the show in general.  With the other two-parter they feel like they might as well be a part of a different show.

Season 1 was good but they hadn't figured out how things were going to work just yet.

Season 3 has two of my favorite episodes in it but the other lackluster ones, the short episode length and the controversial ending makes it my least favorite.

Season 4 was a good one but it had to much hype build up around it, especailly with the Rainbow key thing and the first 7 or so episodes all ending on needless cliffhangers.

Season 5 was also really good but it's where the show tried to be to "Big" for itself. It tried to do things it simply can't, whether it be because of TV rating or time. For instance Starlight Glimmer in The Cutie Map. Instead of being a morally gray villain with good points, they quite clearly make her the villain and her hold philosophy completely in the wrong because it's TV-Y and they need to have a clear cut conflict.

Season 6 is a massive step down. Not as much as Season 3 but it does feel like a sequel to that season. A lot of the times the characters feel lackluster, or more childishly written, more in tune with their more basic self. There are some gems but it feels very mediocre, like they are just coasting by here. I mean several stories are just taking well worn stories and playing them rather straight.

So overall season ranking

S2>S5>S4>S1>S6>S3

Meh. I've never understood why people claim the S1 as "the supreme perfection". It's the season with the biggest amount of episodes I didn't like (a total of 9), and while objectively the S3 it's worse than it, it's not MY least favorite for several reasons. I think that many people praise that season so much only for devotion toward the name behind it, and not for real personal interest, and that makes me really sad. Ah whatever, I've discussed about this so many times in past, and honestly I got bored with it at this point... Anyway, my rank for the seasons:

4>5>6>2>3>1

The 4th is my favorite, I think it's the most consistent, it has only one episode I don't like (Somepony to Watch Over Me) not mentioning that despite almost three years have been passed, its finale it's still my favorite episode of the show, and one of my favorites pieces of animation of all time. The S5 and the S6 were close to beat it, but there were some factors who prevented them to win (the semi-constant Twilight emotional Torture Porn in S5 (see Party Pooped, Made in Manehattan and What About Discord) and the obmonious finale in S6).

2. Recently I briefly skimmed the list of episodes from that season, and from my memory I can only think of a small handful which I didn't care for. The rest is all solid, and that season has a good three of my favourite episodes of all time. In terms of the series, I think that's where the show started to branch out with its humour, and while it's a less focused season than the first, I also think it does a lot more with fleshing out the characters and analysisg their insecurities. To me it's still by far the most consistent of the seasons, even if it's low points are a fair bit worse than season 1's.

S2 > S1 > S6 > S3 > S4 > S5

Because everyone's describing their feelings on each season:

S1 -- The most tightly controlled season even in spite of taking a while to gain its footing. With some exceptions, it just gets better and better as it goes on, and by focusing on the growth of the mane six's friendships, it also has the show'a best story arc. A bit quaint though.

S3 -- Underrated. It's a little uneven, but this season's experimentation pays off more often than not, and that same trend towards experimentation feels like the logical next step after the show nailed down its formula in season 2. Definitely hurt by the finale though.

S4 -- Another season with plenty of charm, but at this point the show was starting to show its age, and S4 rarely does much to break from the status quo or even go against the show'a established formulas. On top of that, I don't feel the characters grow much this season, and even some of my favourites aren't that memorable to me.

S5 -- I don't get why people like this one. It does have high ambitions pretty often, but more often than not, this just brings attention to the show's limitations, and at its core, it's not much less formulaic than season 4. Worse still, this season feels outright joyless compared to any other season, and it often doesn't even pretend to develop a main character. I didn't enjoy much of it.

S6 -- The other underrated season. Like season 3, this season does a lot more experimenting, and after the two seasons preceding it, its abundance of weird new stories is a massive breath of fresh air. What other people see as the mane six "regressing" comes across to me as the most interesting they've been in ages, though this is no S2. It's more risky than season 4 and more fun than season 5, and it's a step in the right direction.

Hands down season 4 as it has the most amount of my all time favorite episodes out of any season, including my favorite premiere and finale, and it was the period where I was most invested in the series.
