How do you think the Mane 6 would react if they discovered a engine?

As many of you know I love cars and the incredible engines that power them. Engines are among some of the most complicated and extraordinary things invented and forged by humanity. 

 

So I wondered, how would Twilight Sparkle and her friends react if they found an engine (complete with electric wiring, ecu, and transmission) in the EverFree Forest? Share your thoughts!

 

For the sake of ease, I'm making the engine a B18C.

Applejack would probably wonder how much torque it makes but she'll get a little upset when she hooks it up to her cart later.

 

Twilight would research on the engine design especially how VTEC works.

 

Rarity would not really care but she does love the red on the valve cover.

 

Pinkie Pie would muster ways to power it into one of her party cannons.

 

Rainbow Dash would see how much power it can handle until it explodes.

 

Fluttershy would find that the sound it emits, would frighten the animals.

Machines, in general are not unknown in their world, so they would probably be able to identify it as such.  But its purpose would be totally unknown to them.  Now, as I recall, the Flim Flam brothers drove up to Sweet Apple Acres in, what appeared to be, a steam-powered vehicle, so they might be able to deduce its function, but not able to describe how it works.

To be honest, on the basis that they have steam engines, their first assumption might be that it's some sort of pump, that actually is intended to be driven by a steam engine.

 

As far as I know they don't have access to crude oil, and therefore gasoline, so it would be a long stretch of the imagination to figure it's an engine and what powers it.

 

However, organic oils like rape seed oil and sunflower seed oil can be used as a diesel fuel, as also can a flammable gas. Still a large leap of the imagination tho to make the connection.

 

They will be able to find out that it sucks in air and compresses it, which is wrong for a pump so it's not that then, so what is it?

I can see Twilight wanting to take the engine apart in order to find out how it works, and then attempt to either put it back together or make it better than it was prior. Rarity wouldn't touch it and neither would Fluttershy, yet Pinkie would want to see if it could be used to make her party cannons even more powerful. Applejack might use it for Sweet Apple Acres, and Rainbow Dash would be the odd one out given she would see it as either lame or awesome depending on her attitude.
