Can we please move all political stuff to the Debate Pit?

I come to the world of ponies to get away from the pain of IRL election stuff and the infuriating idiots yelling because the media said they're the best if they're the loudest. I noticed a lot of threads that start with seemingly MLP-related titles like "What would happen if Trump was hit by the EoH beam?" or "Would you move to Equestria to escape from Trump" and the threads are full of ignorant and uninformed people insulting Trump over and over and over and over and over and over. I don't want to be banned for speaking out against this, but the Debate Pit is real, can political election stuff (And political election anti-Trump stuff in "Disguise") be moved to the Debate Pit? I want to talk about ponies and anime but mostly ponies on this site, not argue with angry wrong people that'll report me if I'm too blunt or harsh when I tell them they're wrong and their sources are fake. Did you know NY Times' owner and number one shareholder regularly donates to the Clinton Foundation tax scam fake-charity AND he's a long-time friend of the Clintons which is why NY Times is so biased and anti-Trump? Now imagine trying to keep calm and reasonable in a debate with someone that thinks denying facts like that makes them fake facts. Now imagine having your Facebook feed FULL of dumb angry people, wanting to escape to ponies, and seeing MORE election "Trump is evil and he will do no such thing as Make America Great Again because I said so" and "Stop telling me citation needed! We don't need citations or facts if we're loud enough!" echo chamber posts and threads.

While normally I would agree with @, I've been finding myself in @@EmeraldStar04's camp lately.

It's been nearly two weeks since the election, and yet people STILL can't stop talking about it.  Ponies are my escape, as well, and I simply want to come and enjoy a place where I can put the worries and issues of real life aside and marvel at small, cute, pastel-colored talking horses for a few hours.

The Debate Pit exists for a reason, and that is to keep controversial subjects such as politics, religion, and social issues confined to a single board.

I say we send them all to Emeraldstar04's inbox.

Kidding.

On one hand I agree with you since I am just tired of hearing about any of it period. BUT... the fact is, they are not actually debates so in my opinion they do not belong there either. Most of them as you said are just cheaply disguised political rants merged with pony chat... but whatever, no one has to bother with them if they don't want to.

Solution... don't go in them and keep running your mouth about how wrong every other person on Earth is and how right you are. That way you don't have to deal with it and they will go away on their own once people quite inciting each other to comment. You are one of the main posters keeping several going all by yourself with your need to constantly belittle every other opinion and thought made in them and then spread yours as loud as possible.

So, stay out of them if you really don't like them. Eventually they will go away. Report them if they truly bother you and they keep appearing.

My two cents: If you don't like the political threads, just stay out. Noboby is really saying you MUST post in them.

I do see some of them trying to start trouble, but I'm careful enough to not try and ignite those people. However, some may be younger and/or not able to analyze the threads enough to see that saying their way might make someone go off. In that case, just don't post in the thread if you think you may piss off someone.

It will go away soon, most likely, once the election day gets so far in the past.

The ability to stay out of threads you don't like doesn't necessarily mean there's nothing to gain by moderating them, making them less prominent, or banning them. There's a reason NSFW content is blanket-banned on MLPF instead of being permitted and left for uninterested users to ignore. Proactive moderation is part of MLPF's DNA.

Running into content you don't like will negatively shape your perception of MLP Forums, and there are plenty of online communities which blanket-ban politics due to the heat and discomfort such topics tend to generate.

In lieu of blanket bans, the Debate Pit and Life Advice areas were both created as a means to separate threads that are controversial, intensely negative, or otherwise not what most users expect to find when coming here to talk ponies. Maybe Debate Pit could be renamed to "Debates & Politics" to make it a better home for the threads @@EmeraldStar04 is concerned about.

I disagree, I believe The Debate Pit should not be treated as a dumping ground for threads that may or may not be liked by certain groups.

I understand that many do not like the opposing opinions of others , especially when they stem from a place of ignorance, but just because a thread has some hateful opinions  should not be a reason to sentence these threads to the Debate Pit.

I also understand that there have been a lot of Trump threads in the forums lately but sending threads like "What would happen if Trump was hit by the EoH beam?" or "Would you move to Equestria to escape from Trump" to the Debate Pit wouldn't be a good solution to this issue either because, frankly speaking, those threads aren't Debates and it would mess with my OCD O_O

A recurring point Team "Don't dump political stuff in the debate pit" makes is "But political rants technically aren't debates". So... I think a new section next to the debate pit should be opened. The Politics Pit, where people can rant about politicians and then others can agree or disagree or disprove their talking points, AWAY from the ponies!

I would be fine with this so long as It won't impose the same account restrictions that regular debate pit threads tend to suffer from.

I think this would be a good compromise. But unsure if it would really be needed. Most of those threads are not political so much as goofy at best and downright dumb at worst.... they only become political when someone decides to make them that way. So for the most part they would not fit in a political section either.

If someone starts a thread "What do you think Trump ate for dinner?" or "What's on Hilary's grocery list?", it does not have to become a gladiatorial arena for people to spout their opinions... they just need to say "Chicken and rice" and get on with it. Or completely ignore it... whichever is easiest.

Personally I think true political debates need to be in the debate pit, and if someone starts a goofy Trump/Hilary/whatever thread and someone starts turning it political, either they should be directed to the proper debate thread on the subject if there is one, or if the thread cannot be controlled, just lock it. Once people start learning they can't use any thread with a politicians name on it as a soapbox, they will stop.
