Technical Issues
I'm getting ERR_SPDY_PROTOCOL_ERROR error message

6 posts in this topic

I'm currently using Windows 7 and getting the ERR_SPDY_PROTOCOL_ERROR error message.

I found a similar topic here:

https://mlpforums.com/topic/132607-500-error-err-empty-response-err-spdy-protocol-error/

But those solutions couldn't help me to fix this error at all. I'm unable to make the question there, so I open a new topic to ask about this error.

Has anyone encountered this problem before? Is there any solution to bypass or remove this error?

Updated: I found this from Google after several days of searching, apply one of those methods and the problem is gone.

I haven't encountered this error, but out of my tech experience, I can try and decode what that error means, as I have some server experience.

SPDY is a technology developed by the guys at Google that is aimed to improve page speeds and latency, but when checking the active SPDY sessions through Chrome, there are none active. I'd imagine it's probably a way your browser is processing the MLPF SSL (encryption) certificate.

What browser are you using? Chrome may help, but if you prefer not to use Chrome, there are many browsers based off it's open source equivelant called Chromium, such as Vivaldi (http://vivaldi.com).

Let's me download Vivaldi and give it a try.

@@tberty, I'm guessing you ran into this error while trying to log into your Poniverse account? There was a misconfiguration there that allowed poniverse.net's certificate to expire, which @AppleDashPoni and I just corrected. Are you still getting it?

If yes, please reply with the following info:

  • your browser and the version of it you're using
  • the URL you experience the error on

If not, I'd appreciate if you can let us know that, too. :)
