The Blue Shell and Coin(s), not so much.

Almost no one likes the Spiny Shell because of how broken it is, and the one true means of countering it are mixed results at best since you don't always get it when you need it and get it when you don't want it. Me? I don't like the Spiny Shell period because of those reasons and because someone always gets it. My favourite item is the Star because you get a nice speed boost for a time and can plow through any obstacle that gets in your way be it opponent or hazard. I also like the Star music that plays when you use it.

Well it's kind of difficult to argue about which ones are the best/worst since the bullet bill and blue shell obviously are the best ones but as for my favorite it's definitely the triple red shells. You don't have to be last to get them, and not only do they seek out your target but they also protect your back from someone else trying to hit you with shit as long as you don't fire them away.

I think the best item is the Banana Peel since it's always so funny to see your opponent drive over one.

 

I think 95% of everybody will think the same when I say that the WORST item is the Spiny Shell. Not because of what it does, but because even the professional Mario Kart players have them on the top of their "to kill" lists.

Well in MKWii you can dodge Blue Shells with a mushroom so it does not effect professional players all that much.  If you don't have a mushroom then another team mate moves up if possible.

When it comes to Mario Kart Wii, I have the Blue Shell on 2nd least favorite considering the thundercloud item that you'd get every no way and then. That item SUCKED!

Well I get the feeling that everybody hates the blue (or spiny) shell including myself which is the worst. The best and useful items were Red shells (both single and triple), Star, Mega Mushroom, Bullet Bill, and the Mushrooms (single, triple, and golden).

In terms of potential? Definitely the blooper. It does nothing but covers your screen with ink that you can very clearly see past.

I've always liked the super boosts and chain chomp specials from Double Dash.

 

As for regular items I'm like a fuckin' sniper with green shells.

I have always loved the banana peels actually. Especially if you get a lot, it creates havoc on the course. :3 The best special item to me was the Chain Chomp in Double Dash. That or the big Bob-Omb. Dduble Dash was soooo friggin good.

 

Worst item? Blue shell. That thing just feels entirely cheap to me. Sure, it can cause chaos, but it is targeted chaos that is near impossible to avoid.

Plus, it's largely pointless if you're the one using it.

E.g.: If I'm in 12th, then auto-targeting the 1st guy isn't going to do jack s*** for me.

I would say that the Blue Shell is both the best and worst item at the same time.

It's great when you aren't in first place and manage to knock out your competition, but nothing can explain the amount of frustration getting hit by the blue shell gives you.

The coin is the absolute worst most useless item. Usually you get it when youre in first and sitting fine with 8-10 coins and when a defensive banana is much more desirable. The banana isnt great either, but at least you can protect yourself against the inevitable red shell the AI *conveniently* gets.

 

As for the best item, Id have to say the green shell. It's kind of funny how long they survive sometimes and how they occasionally become a stage hazard because of their placement. The fireball is great too with its rapid fire.
