searching Cowboy Bebop RP (sci-fi/SOL/Anthro)

The year is 2071. Years of technological progress and innovation have led ponies to discover the secrets to achieving faster than light travel, leading to exploration beyond planet Equestria and the establishment of multiple warp drive gates across the galaxy. However, an accident fifty years ago involving a warp drive gate located near the moon caused the planet to become almost uninhabitable, and as such, ponykind was forced to relocate and colonize the many different planets and moons in the Solar System. Crime rate has risen greatly since then, and the International Solar System Police (ISSP) have looked to the option of hiring bounty hunters, also known as "Cowboys", to apprehend criminals they cannot catch, bringing them in alive in return for a reward. You are one of these Cowboys, teaming up with others to form a crew who hunt down criminals across the Solar System, hoping to score a big reward.

As stated in the title, this is a roleplay inspired by the famous anime "Cowboy Bebop".

Rules specific to the RP:
- This RP mainly consists of the participants travelling the Solar System and hunting down criminals for a bounty reward, with a slice of life aspect as well. Not everyone needs to take part in the bounty hunting aspect; if you're not into that, and would rather just enjoy a relaxed RP with a sci-fi setting, you are more than welcome to do so.

- While it may be sci-fi, there are many modern aspects to the world of Cowboy Bebop, such as weaponry, and the look of some towns and cities. So no laser/plasma rifles here, just metal guns and lead bullets. Sorry if that's not what you're looking for, but I want to remain true to the aesthetic of Cowboy Bebop.

- You and the rest of the participants will be part of the same crew on the same ship. This is subject to change at my own discretion; I will only allow 5 participants max, however if more wish to join I will separate them into another crew of bounty hunters, which will also have 5 members. It is as this point I will allow 3 different crews, for a total of 15 people. I also might make separate threads for the other crews to post in and manage those as well, so as not to clog up one thread.

If this is the case:
1. The first person who joins after the first crew has been formed will be the captain of the second crew.
2. The captain must come up with a name for their crew's ship, and provide an image of what their ship looks like.

- Also in the case of multiple crews, you as an individual crew member don't have to be faithful to your own crew. Yes, backstabbing will be a thing in this RP, if there's someone on here that you want to be a member of your crew, you can convince them to betray their team and join your own.

- I said before that this RP has bounty hunting in it. I will mostly provide the bounties and play out the scenarios, however I am giving everyone the power to come up with their own bounty that they themselves can play out. Yes, you can be the villain if you want to!

2. Action sequences must be PG-13
3. Make an effort to post here regularly
4. You can have romance, just keep like the action: PG-13
5. No gary-stu/mary-sue characters
6. Have fun!

Do I need to have watched the Cowboy Bebop show in order to fully understand and participate in this RP?

Not exactly, Cowboy Bebop may be sci-fi but there's not much sci-fi in it; if you know about faster than light travel and spaceships you're pretty much set in that regard. 

 

A couple things I should mention though:

 

Guns are not really futuristic, the weapons you see in the show are pretty modern.

The currency is called "Wulongs"

You can only go from planet to planet using "Hyperspace Gates"

Gotcha... Well, this RP certainly piqued my interest! If you don't mind the fact that I haven't watched Cowboy Bebop yet - even though I am interested in it, so I might just get to it fairly soon - I'd be more than happy to join in. c:

 

This is Trinket, the character I'd like to be using. She's originally a toy maker, but given the sci-fi'esque genre and the post-apocalyptic scenario, I'd assume she'd be more fitted to be the ship's mechanical engineer or something along those lines. If she used to fabricate toys, she can most likely keep a spaceship from exploding in deep space, right? 

 

Also, whatever help you need, I'll gladly do my best to be of use to ya. I don't have the greatest roleplaying experience out there, but still, I'll try!

I think it'd be best if we all are on one ship, to be honest I could definitely do this like they do it in the show; start out with two people then have more people join along as time goes on.

Well it's still a bit of a work in progress, I was thinking the participants would all be one big bounty hunter crew (max participants would probably be around 5 or 6), as the DM I will provide different bounties for the crew to go after; you can either start on the ship already, or you can come aboard the crew at a later time (i.e. you were originally a bounty the crew was hunting, but we decide to let you join instead).

I like her personality and things like that, those can stay. But yes, I think it would be best to make a section for her based solely around this RP.

 

Oh and if you watch the series, do the dubbed version. Seriously, it one-ups the sub by a crap ton.

Well, in the show, the main characters didn't really have specific roles running the ship per se; for example if someone got injured or sick it was anyone's call as to who would help them. Also, it seemed that all maintenance of their main ship was handled by one person.

 

Granted, the main cast was somewhat disorganized as a crew, and not all bounty hunters operate the same way, but I did see ourselves kinda being like the main cast, where crew roles were pretty much nonexistent and anyone could deal with problems faced on the ship, if any.

 

TL;DR: yeah, we're straight up bounty hunters.

Ah yeah, another thing I forgot to mention:

 

You should know what exactly the warp gate accident was. It blew up and shattered a huge chunk of the moon, and the debris fell onto the earth at the same frequency as rain, destroying the surface and killing 4.7 billion people. Debris still orbits the planet, and while Earth is still habited by people, they have to be careful of continuing rock falls from said orbiting debris.

Admittedly, the most I know about Cowboy Bebop is what I read in the Wikipedia article, but I'm always game for sci-fi RPs!  I feel that the OC best suited for this thread would be Bronze Bulwark, whose bio you can find through the link in my sig.

Hey so I finally got around to thoroughly read your small bio for Trinket for the RP, and it's fine, only one slight problem:

 

The warp drive incident occurred fifty years ago from when the RP takes place. That would mean Trinket would be a lot older now than what she really is.

 

Unless she was cryogenically frozen and thawed out fifty years later, you might want to change that part of her backstory
