scared of sex

I think its more for protection of children. Sex isnt always the euphoric pleasure that most people get out of it, it can be a very daunting and traumatic experience, the one we all know is rape of course. Plus sex is entirely based on consent, without consent its a violation of your body, mind and personal safety zone/space. Its not a nice thing. Its a form of pain in more ways than one, so by tabooing sex until age of consent, you're protecting children. But of course sex ed is being taught in schools, so we're preparing them anyway.

plus is guess its the "youre not ready/old enough for it" argument too, but from what ive seen these days, kids are maturing a lot faster and earlier than we used to. I know this is normal in Japan, hence why theres so much school hentai and they draw 10 year olds with breast (Misty from Pokemon and Sakura from Cardcaptors... theyre 10!) so maybe the western world is heading that way in the genes too?

Japan is still suffering from a rift, however. Again, hentai and any sort of porn in Japan is regarded as filthy and while it's not censored like it is in South Korea and China it is still heavily regulated. Japan is more conservative than the Western world, including the US. They're not that different; Japanese society is stuck between two extremes of "don't talk about sex" and some dirty sexual pleasures, much more than the US is. Genitals are censored and certain pornography is banned in some prefectures, such as Loli.

Unexpected pregnancies, especially among teens, are problems in Japan, they just choose to hide it from the public.

no... its hard to explain Japanese culture particuarly if you just get everything from Anime and Manga which is inaccurate (im really not trying to be offensive its just most westerners do) which is why ive seen Japanese nationals physically and violently cringe at people calling themselves "Otaku"

any way in Japan the beuty standards for women has always been a youthful appearance and when they say that they literally mean "youth" so pubescent girls are basically the standard however that's obviously not acceptable hence why you have Loli and all that

they're trying to change their culture for more current times though i know in my country Loli counts as Child pornography and i think Japans trying to do the same

If one doesn't like something that can be considered offensive, it is easy to just advocate that 'it should be illegal'. But what would actually be the effect of this. Banning something that someone else likes, just because we don't like it, is wrong, unless it presents a clear and present danger to society.

There is a logical construct that many people build that basically says 'people will look at loli, become pedos, and then molest kids'. However, this logical construct seems to fall apart when you take into consideration that Japan has one of the lowest child abuse rates in the world, and the countries that ban loli art have some of the highest abuse rates in the world. One really needs to look at the effect of things, and not rely on appeals to emotion by either side. I am sure people who find loli art beautiful are very angry at the callous disregard shown by many who want to put them into a 'box of deplorables' as it were.

As for this thread, yes, i want it to become more acceptable. That means that derivatives, like clop forinstance, will also become less stigmatized ^.^, which would be a good thing.

Thats the thing. By this logic the movie 'terminator' should be illegal, because it's depicting murder. I hope you read the rest of my post and not just that first sentence.

  • 2 years later...

I don't...have any problems discussing it anywhere, it just gets kinda awkward talking about it in front of my parents. :sealed: But, to be honest people should stop making the "birds and the bees" out to be a bad thing. It's a natural phenomenon.

Sex is a personal matter, hence it should be kept personal. I don’t mind seeing something alluding to it in movies if it has a bearing on the plot, but I don’t care for gratuitous additions of any kind, sexual or otherwise. Sex is fine in conversation between people who have an understanding and wish to talk about it without imposing it on someone else who doesn’t. The most important thing is to allow some semblance of innocence for kids and others who don’t want a constant deluge of sexual material permeating everything in life.

people seem to forget that in EVERY SINGLE western country there are laws in place making the wage gap impossible

That's totally not off-topic. Even then, I don't think that laws that aren't easy to enforce will stop corporations from sexist practices. Not implying I think the gap is real, but I did have to address the gaping hole in this logic.

On topic, I don't really care to know about anyone's sex life (which is part of why I'm tight lipped about mine), but at the same time I don't believe in outright censorship of sex by society today. I don't see what is so harmful about a natural function of the human body. The logic used to support this censorship, when taken to its logical conclusion, would also tell us that we need to censor anything about the excretion of bodily waste, and anything about bodily fluids. Which is hardly ever an issue. :mlp_wat:

There is certainly a time and a place for it but I think it should be fine to talk about, as long as it's nothing... too explicit.

I think schools should definitely offer some kind of sex education class, especially in areas where teenage pregnancies are higher.
