Favorite musical instrument.

Piano is superb! I don't play any instruments myself but the sounds of the piano are always a pleasant thing to hear to me. I also like to listen to instrumental music that has some violin in it as well.

If I just could, it'd be wonderful to be able to master the piano.

Electric guitar, because when in good hands it is capable of creating very wide variety of sounds with proper effect usage.

Violin, because on it one can write probably the most touching melodies I came up with so far. Also I love the way it was used in Dark Souls III soundtrack <3

And piano - one can say it is an instrument easy to learn, but difficult to master. In fact I'd love to get my hands on one myself, it is a great instrument to help learning theory as well as polishing songwriting skills. And, of course it sounds beautiful :3

My personal favorites are drums and bass guitar/double bass, but I suppose that's my player's bias. I have the most experience on bass guitar and have played primarily in jazz/blues ensembles going on 3 years now. I have a want (and need) to get better at guitar, but I consider it a bit more of a "specialist" instrument for the kind of stuff I fancy. Truthfully I only want to improve as a blues/jazz soloist on guitar a la Eric Clapton's early work or Henry Vestine/John Lee Hooker.

Well, leave it to me, if there's ever been an instrument I've wanted, I've got it! =P

My favorite instruments are of course wind instruments. My top favorites are the oboe/English horn, saxophone (alto or lower), bassoon, and bass clarinet. The trumpet/trombone/saxophone combo in pop/rock music is sublime. No matter the era, genre.

My favorite non-wind instruments are the harpsichord and hammond organ. I'll probably never play them. That's fine. Just kind of sad these instruments have been pushed aside. It'd be so much more fun to play the harpsichord than the piano.

I've only played a few gigs where we didn't have a Hammond B-3 on hand. They're fantastic little keyboards with a huge and swirling sound. Leslie speakers also make great guitar amps for semi-wah-wah type effect. Always have preferred hammonds to pianos or other electronic keyboards. They add R&B and psychedelic flavor to any arrangement and are fantastic for anything from soul to progressive rock.

It also provides an interesting timbre to some British Folk rock music.

Probably not the first place one would expect to find it, but it works really well. I'm actually not sure exactly what kind of organ is used in Steeleye Span's song there, but I really love its use, which is is very subtle and dark.

Bassoon is best instrument!

(not biased or anything, I only play it all the time...  :D )

Oooh. Hi fellow bassoonist!

I mean I may have kind of maybe switched to oboe over the last year. But that's a *very* long story. I've played the bassoon since late 2006.

I play around with my Harmonica at times, adapting songs to it, but i don't play it often. If I had to learn an instrument, I'd probably choose the piano, guitar or either the violin or cello. They just all seem interesting to me.

Oh no, OBOE??

It's okay, I'm sure I'll forgive you... eventually.

Even though I cannot play any instrument worth a damn, my personal favorites are the piano, drums and violin. Piano and violin are simply stunning in their sound and can create tranquil music or even epic scores. Drums, of course, are a vital backbone to a lot of music and I can always get into a beat. Drums are something so simple and primal yet so awesome. <3

Drums may sound simple, but believe me, it actually is one of the hardest instruments to play :D Requires a lot of skill (all Your limbs basically should work independantly from each other) +it basically sets the rhythm for entire band to follow. If drummer messes up then the entire band is likely to fail along with him.

I tried playing drums myself, when I had a band. Even playing simple patterns properly proved to be quite challenging :v

While at it I forgot to add drums to my list last time I posted. Great drums can turn even boring guitarwork into something amazing (personally tested :D )

Oh, I didn't mean simple to play, I know they are faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar from that. XD I meant simple in concept, since it is just hammering on things with sticks, but the inner complexity of actually playing them makes them even more special. :3

Bari sax, hooves down. Not only is it incredibly fun to play, it sounds amazing. I love hearing it in the background in MLP music (I think there's been one in a few of Pinkie's songs).

I don't actually like jazz or blues, but Joe had the best tone out of any player I've heard.

Spoiler

Since I started playing bari, I've started to hate altos. They just sound so much like shit now, which is kind of heretical to say considering I started on one.

I can’t play a musical instrument. I tried violin for a while but it was a study in frustration for me and pain for those around me, so I gave it up for the greater good. As a spectator I love the cello! It has such a deep, rich sound and evokes so many deep emotions. I really love it.

Well, my favorite instruments are Guitars and Synthesizer. I can not play any of them. I would like to learn Synthesizer because you can make so much interesting music with it. And it fits into different styles of music like EDm, Metal or Indie. I even would buy me a synthesizer ... if I had the money for it. I also would learn Guitar or Bass. But same problem as for the synthesizer.

Another instruments which I really like are bagpipes (especially the Uilleann Pipes from ireland) and Pedal-Steel-Guitar,
