The Hardship of Celestia

I'm sure I'm not the first one who has thought of this.. The real hardship of Celestia is simply that.. She has not slept while Luna was banished

Evidence:

If you look at Lesson Zero, The sun was ticking down as the day went on. This would mean that Celestia had to constantly move the sun, Which would be fine beside the fact that she took on the responsibility of raising the moon and sun since Nightmare Moon was banished. If she didn't there wound't be afternoons or dusk, If a beloved princess turned villain was forgotten in a span of a thousand years, surely a simple concept of dusk could too.

Which would also give Celestia an Alibi on why she didn't help the mane six on the first episode. She had to keep the balance by constantly using magic.

(Yes, I do know that her horn didn't glow all the time, but consider her age and knowledge living for thousands of years, She could have found a way to conceal her magic to keep her citizens from worrying about her well-being)

I'm sure there are holes in this theory, please let me know what you guys think and I'll try to improve it to the best of my abilities..

I unfortunately lost the story when my last computer was stolen, but I remember a short story where Celestia revealed to Twilight that she used a time travel spell to relive each day over and over again to get several days work done each day. Like Santa, Celestia is very busy.

Hmm, I suppose you're right there. Given time is measured in the same way it is in human dimensions, that would imply the sun/moon have to move across the sky by measurable amounts. If some of you can confirm that the terms hour or minutes have been used in the show then that would indeed imply that Celestia has had to be up every hour on the hour in order to inch the sun across the sky by the exact amount that it should be. That is Tantalus levels of torture there!

Given, I've always assumed up till now that the sisters have just had to pop it up in the sky & slap it dead center like a giant sticker then just take it down when their "shift" was over. After all, it does seem like the amount of light tends to be the only factor in Equestria. But this can be disproven if the show makes a habit of showing the sun at different angles. Which... also could mean it is a stationary object that... wait...

Unless all of Equestria is flat, Celestia HAS to move it along at a steady pace. A curved planet surface would mean that there would be no place to stick the sun where all of her nation gets sun all at once. Yeah! If the sun doesn't move of its own accord, then that requires constant attention! I can only imagine how hard it is to keep a celestial body up if you have to rotate it across to the other side of the planet! Which would mean Celestia or Luna having to move to the other side of the planet at the end of every day!

...Unless of course, all this is just a story the girls have made up to dissuade malcontent factions from rebelling against them. If you dethroned or offed one of them, that'd mean some large orb colliding into the planet, eh?

I think that Celestia gets some rest everyday because for her the sun & the moon operate like how we wind a clock twice a day. She gives the sun a nudge, it moves, she then takes care of other business, takes a nap, nudges the moon, takes care of business, takes a nap, gets up & nudges the sun and on & on it goes for a thousand years..

I was thinking something similar, actually.

I think she had to have gotten some sleep during those 1,000 years as I don't think even she could have stayed awake that long and not end up getting cranky as a result. Even when she was able to sleep, she probably had nightmares over what she had to do to her sister to prevent Equestria from being destroyed. With Luna handling the night duties, I'm sure Celestia gets to sleep a lot longer than she used to although that doesn't explain why Luna was sleeping at night.

Hmmmmm..... Interesting theory. Could it be that, Celestia isn't a total waste of space after all? Is it possible that she has this restless, emotional responsibility and is reliving the same day over and over?

I have a pretty in depth theory myself. I've been preparing to say it to a public audience for sometime now.

Are you ready kids?

Hmph, then here is the me thinking that I didn't do much around my liar. I even have to make sure no one falls asleep during the day in my castle.

If  Celestia is restless, she should then get up and help her sister on a few things. Believe me, Celestia the kids will like and respect you more. *Keeps himself from laughing inside* Well maybe.

@Rarity the Supreme: I do agree with you. She is lazy, more than her sister.

The real hardships of Celestia are the writers, who don't allow this character to be successful, competent or relevant.

Cadance is allowed to be. Luna is allowed to be. Starlight is allowed to be. Celestia? God forbid.

Likewise, maybe it's not actually "super telekinesis" so much as "magical programming."
