What kind of music do you wish the MLP Film would have?

Recommended Posts

I'm sick of people here being content with mediocrity. For a theatrical film you best be putting forth your best effort. Having glam pop songs about fashion runways won't impress people.

I was never the biggest fan of the EQG movies and the songs. But everybody has their taste and everybody is allowed to have these tastes. There is no reason to be angry about someones taste in these songs.

I mainly listen to audiobooks... Here is a good free audiobook if anyone is interested! I dont mind giving this publicity, its narrated by the author, and she invested in 40 voice actors and a proprietary soundtrack.

http://podiobooks.com/title/the-guild-of-the-cowry-catchers-book-1-embers/

But ALL the pony music is good, including the equestrian girls soundtrack

And it still sucked.

In fact up to Legend of Eveefree the Equestria Girls series has had some of the most ear grating songs ever made.

I mean seriously? "This is our big night"? "Na na na na na na na"? "I'm gonna be myself no matter what I do"? Are you kidding me with these lyrics?

And I don't blame Daniel Ingram one bit. With Unleash the Magic and most of the LOE soundtrack it's clear that he wants to make memorable music but Hasbro says otherwise for the most part.

Your saying legend of everfree had a better soundtrack than rainbow rocks?? RAWR @ you! 'This is our big night' wasn't my favorite song, but rainbow rocks had a TON of memorable songs. Shine like rainbows is probably the best pony song ever!

1. No not all pony music is great. 95% of FIM's is, but the EG songs (the first three movies at least) are unbearable to listen to. I will admit that the Cafeteria song is somewhat catchy for 20 seconds and Unleash the Magic is great, but otherwise... get the bleach.

2. No, sorry, but Rainbow Rock's soundtrack was just as abysmal lyric-wise. Musically it was a tiny step up and the visuals are great, but the composition is awful. It's especially apparent when Sunset Shimmer's song completely hijacks the powerful final sequence into yet another generic glam pop song.

I was never the biggest fan of the EQG movies and the songs. But everybody has their taste and everybody is allowed to have these tastes. There is no reason to be angry about someones taste in these songs.

I'm not angry at people who enjoy that style. I pity those who think that having it in a wide-release theater in a competitive movie world (around the holidays nonetheless) is a good idea.

why not let the people decide, what they like and what they don't like?

This is a forum about Friendship is magic and not a forum with a bunch of "movie experts" who care about box office numbers. All we want is having a good time watching the movie. We don't care if it will reach one billion dollars.

Dubstep? I don't know, I mean if it matches the scene like if it involves Discord it could make sense. The other kind would be if there was some kind of robot or mechanical thing going on.

Wonder if they would get a big name to help with the music.

You should change the title to "People who like what I don't like are WRONG!!!!!!".

Also I kind of want music like the EqG movies. I personally enjoy those more then the main series.

Nothing against opinions but if they use music like the EqG movies the film will get terrible reviews.

I care about the movie being good.

And I guarantee you general audiences hate the kind of music in EG.

Since when does music equal bad reviews? You can't always expect star wars or lord of the rings esque music when you go see a movie.

But I except actual effort in the music.

This goes back to me saying that y'all are fine with a mediocre film.

This goes back to me saying that y'all are fine with a mediocre film.

Those films had plenty of energetic and exciting music that plenty of people enjoyed, and it's easy to see that Daniel Ingram and co. really enjoyed making it, again there's a reason Rainbow Rocks is widely loved among the fanbase

No one's fine with a mediocre film, they just want to enjoy it. Quit putting words in people's mouth and acting like you speak for everyone when you clearly don't

Long story short, the creators reailized that nobody in the GP would watch anything like Equestria Girls so they made it a live orchestra/broadway-esque musical. This is pretty much a fact.

But guess what? Contrary to what the people here want to believe this movie is not made primarily for Bronies (nor should it be). General Audiences are appalled by crappy pop music. Sorry.

To be fair, movie is going to be primarily for children and they love that "crappy" pop music.

I dont even understand the point of equestria girls. The point of the whole fandom is that we love ponies, so why take the ponies and make them into humans? It doesnt make sense to me

It needs to be heavy metal. Specifically power and symphonic metal. Why? Here's why.

Being primarily for children has never been a factor in quality. There's a difference between Finding Dory and Hotel Transylvania.

I hope this MLP movie is a smart kids movie and not a generic and/or dumb one.

You missed my point. My point was that the movie is probably going to feature the kind of music that kids these days likes, and that seems to be the same kind of music that you call "crappy pop".

The makers of the movie say otherwise.

The makers of the movie say otherwise.

So they say that kids like other kind of music or what? Have they even confirmed what kind of music the movie is going to have?

They already confirmed it will be a Disney-esque musical, especially considering the posts from Daniel Ingram of him studying Disney films/musicals.

I don't get where you're thinking it will be like Equestria Girls when the mane series doesn't have any of that overly synthesized stuff. Sure Sia may provide a modern-like song but more on the level of Try Everything than ACADECA.

IMO Ingram could be the next great composer in animated/kids cinema.

Yet he makes all the music you claim to hate and find so awful and fake and crap as well.

So much for the next great composer in animation right?

I am not even sure what you are arguing for anymore.

Even the greats make sh*tty stuff at times. His work on the actual show far out weighs the EG stuff.
