Before u became a browny what did u think of about the fandom

Obviously this doesnt apply to those who became brownies the first day mlp aired

What were youre opinions on bronies did you think it was weird?

Did u even know what a brony was?

Did u instantly want to become a brony too?

I at first kind of ignored it i did watch mlp parodies on youtube here and there

.mov being the first way back in 2013 i think. I ddnt realy hate bronies.

Edit: brownie=brony

i didn't know enough about it to form an opinion :/ i hadn't even heard of what is was or gained some kind of understanding until i joined the fandom earlier this year.
i had a friend at at school we (yes me as well) made fun of for liking my little pony but i was just doing what everyone else was doing :/
he isnt even a brony anymore and now makes fun of me which i think is so ironic and funny XD

but yea, i didn't know anything so i felt nothing XP

I don't think about bronies as a whole often.
It's more about pondering individuals and their actions specifically.
Generalizations are something I usually try to avoid.

Honestly at first, it was weird but things just kind of grow on you and bam!, your here in a position you've never thought to be in since first hearing about it. I don't find it stranger than any other fandom and it became the norm for me eventually. The word or term Brony was in my opinion, very clever as a portmanteau so that was pretty catchy. I think that everybody whom encompassed the friendly and good ethics of the show really showed through to me and that's what made me really see here so I've decidedly joined.

I thought it was really funny! i would try to imitate bronies and talk about the show to make people cringe, and it was so much fun! Now I am a brony for real :D

I also loved XJ9s stream (most famous brony league of legends streamer).

Somehow I didn't really start watching until season 6 though

I wasn't really that aware of them when they first began to appear in 2011/2012. I wasn't didn't spend much time on the internet then, so I didn't know about it. I think my mom told my brother and I that someone who watched the show got fired from watching MLP. That was when I first heard about it, thought it was strange and didn't really notice much of it for years. Then, I was reading through YouTube comments on some videos that I think were Team Fortress 2 and noticed that many people with a pony profile picture were getting attacked and sworn at, but most of the bronies didn't fight fire with fire and just refused to give then the attention the haters wanted. I really respected that and began to become interested in the fandom and that's how I eventually joined the fandom.

This thread appears to be related to the My Little Pony franchise and/or the Bronydom in general. Thus, it has been sentenced to Sugarcube Corner.

I never knew what a brony was until 2014 when my cousin told me about it and I thought it was cool. People doing what they love, it doesn't hurt anyone, and they're just enjoying themselves without giving a fuck about what others think and enjoying life.

Even after I knew about them I never saw anything about MLP:fim unless I looked it up.

I never decided to watch it, not because I thought it was "girly" which is a term, just like boyish, manly, and tomboy, I think are fucking stupid and should be removed from people's vocabulary altogether, I just thought it was going to be like the my little pony I saw my little sister watch, A little too elementary for my tastes almost like watching Dragon Tales or Barney.

But I saw a YouTuber named HelloGreedo, who I was and still am subscribed to, who spoke about bronies in one of his videos comparing them to Star Wars fans and not in a bad light or a good one just an obvious light that I already knew about. A "who the fuck cares what people enjoy watching" light. That's when I decided to watch it and became hooked after the first two episodes back in November. Finished the show in two weeks.

Initially I thought Bronies were annoying insincere jokers who didn't actually like the show but were just trolling, being weird, and/or trying to get attention and/or annoy people. It was kind of my fault because I went in knowing nothing about it and only had watched the first 2 episodes.

Here's why:

I somehow knew nothing about Bronies or the new MLP until the very end of 2013. Around that time I was mainly into Gorillaz and Breaking bad.

I watched the first 2 episodes and thought it was just OK (being 25 at that time), but wasn't interested enough to see more. I had searched it on YouTube, so pretty much everything in related videos instantly turned into MLP related. I was getting VERY annoyed so I tried to figure out what the hell was going on.

Since I had seen the first episodes and just thought it was only just "OK", I thought there must be some kind of big joke or meme thing going on about the show that I wasn't getting and it was making me even more annoyed. Then I saw some extremely well made "Children of the Night" fan animation and that made me all like  "ALL RIGHT WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE!?!?" Then I found out that Lauren Faust, who had worked on The Powerpuff Girls with her husband had created it. I watched more and finally got what the big deal was.

We have similar experiences. I didn't know what one really was and didn't hear of the new mlp until 2013, when I was about 26, when I started to hear of it. I also liked BB as that show was concluding around that time. I watched one episode and thought it was alright at first and after a few months, decided to return to it as my youtube search was also heavily pony related after that....and then I became a fan. Before that, I made fun of the idea because I only knew MLP as the third gen pony stuff I saw at department stores or at game shops. Very ugly stuff. But I learned that things were different than that. FiM is a good show with strong values that are truly lacking in society. People don't value friendship enough. Nothing is stronger than friendship.

I used to be very against it because I though it was weird and my friends thought it was weird and they told me it was something I should hate so I just went with what they said and hated the fandom for no reason. Me from 3 years ago would hate me from right now  :P

I got into the show after hearing that people like me tended to get into the show, What really sealed the deal though is the plethora of fan-made content.

What do I think of bronies?

I think they had better not obsess over this series too much. All good things come to an end, and we are closer to that end than we are to the start. The creative types can keep the community alive for a bit, but eventually we'll run out of things to talk about and it'll all be over.

I initially only found out about and watched it because I found out Tara Strong was voicing a character in it. I was surprised they still even made the show; which I had seen as a kid in the early 90's and didn't like.

I thought it would just be fun to see how dumb the show was and what her part was just for kicks. After watching more episodes I thought it was very well done for what it was and more entertaining than I expected also.

It's kind of refreshing how the show has a positive message, which if you think about it most other popular shows seem to be either violent (which I'm not against, just bored of), or stupid and/or just lazily written. I also like how the people working on the show really do care and are surprisingly interactive with the fan base.

A lot of other bronies seem to be some of the most level headed people I've dealt with online also.

I never really paid much attention to the fandom as I didn't even know it existed. Once I got exposed to MLP through watching snippets of the first Equestria Girls movie, I began looking around online to see if there were others like me. I stumbled onto Equestria Daily a month afterwards and lurked there for an entire year before I first started commenting. While I was lurking, I got to see what the brony fandom was all about. I liked what I saw though there were obvious flaws that were brewing below the surface.
