web YouTube comments and cursing

What is your views when people write hurtful comments to hurt others. I think its normal to not like or disagree respectfully. But it turns into lots of cursing and anger and just naming others as this and that. In real life when you had TV you could disagree respectfully, but on the internet you are free to say whatever you want.

Youtube comment section, like MANY other comment sections, should be avoided. Its the internet, respect takes a back seat.

Once you understand this, the sooner you will either ignore it, or be like me and get involved and watch the ego's burn :)

Hey there @@Laurel,

As this topic is discussing YouTube and internet culture, it has been moved to our Media Discussion sub-forum.

Also, if you want my advice, avoid YouTube comments like the plague. All you'll take from them is a headache. :wat:

I don't understand why people get their jollies from making others feel bad. It's really annoying just to see. I agree with everyone else. If you can help it, ignore YouTube comments. There's add-ons and extensions for browsers to get rid of YouTube comments.

Honestly, we always want to ask folks who act horribly on YouTube "What would you do if you caused your victim to commit suicide?" but I honestly don't think a lot of them would even care. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how much faith I have in the human race.

It's fascinating to watch human behaviour, beyond regulation and social stereotypes.

Sometimes even engaging in this type of "harmful" interactions.

To reveal what's beyond the conceptual personality.

That's very sad but so true. This is how people act when there are no rules. I never thought about it that way and it makes me feel a certain way.

Well, it's simple: People these days believe that when they are in front of a screen and no one can see them, they feel that they can say whatever they want and get away with it. These guys are probably some of the biggest cowards ever due to the fact that they probably will get a sock to the jaw if they say that to someone. In fact, the first comment I ever received was from this musician who was a complete jerk. All he wrote was "f*g". I blocked him and told him I won't tolerate that nonsense and even told him to try it someplace else.

In conclusion, people think they can act all tough because no one can really see them. What goes around comes around and they will get what they deserve in the future.

While cursing doesn't bother me in the slightest (I do that a lot too so....), the YouTube comments sections are mostly a breeding ground for sheer stupidity. Not just in terms of insults and arguments, but if you like at the comments on some of the most popular videos out there, the comments are almost always so headache inducing, often having no real point and horrendous grammar and these are from popular that do seemingly have English as a first language.

Nowadays, I only go to comment sections of Youtubers that I really like and even then that is very selective. It is amazing how far down the human race will go if you give them a free platform to say anything they want to.

YouTube had lost its backbone to even suspend troublemaking users in the comments. They look at them as if its no big deal and allows fire to endlessly spread. I hope their lack of proper moderation will lead to massive lawsuits.

Hey, FF7.

I can show you plenty of hateful comments on the internet. I recieved one from Youtube recently. I just posted saying how cute something is in a fox video and someone responds like "Are you autistic, the fox deserves to be on a fur farm." They have posted previous hateful comments against foxes, but it will do no good to argue. It's not easy to moderate on there, and that would remove freedom to write.

It's called freedom of speech. If hurtful comments offend you then simply ignore them. O role at ignorant and mean no matter where you go on the internet. It's inherent to how it works. Even this site isn't perfect. The difference s that they monitor it more closely on here. So for the most part there won't be any mean comments.

Words aren't inherently offensive. F*g is probably really offensive to some people. It doesn't other me personally. What's more childish is to get in a fight with someone who calls you a f*g then to call them a f*g in the first place. Besides we don't want an uptight society where we have to fear what we might say. Simply because it might offend someone. It's better if we all just chilax.

YouTube comments are stupid and pointless. Granted there not better than anywhere else. I don't see anything wrong with monitoring comments. YouTube is a private busnius. So they can choose to allow whatever content they like.

It would be horrible if it led to lawsuits. Words to not justify such action. If you are offend then simply leave. Or go to a site that does monitor what you say.

As horrible as it sounds, YouTube has done nothing to monitor comment sections from many videos and profiles alike. That's when most people would start to realize that YouTube no longer bans trolls from their account at all.

I should have let their comments stay so Youtube would recommend my videos more

If I didn't want to read shitty people being shitty, I should have just not read their shitty comments and stayed the fuck away from them

Rude internet speech is an easy problem to solve by simply just leaving

And the sad fact is that YouTube clearly doesn't have the backbone to unleash the banhammer on people who are being idiots that beg to be the center of attention and YouTube itself pretty much stopped caring for the many.

I have seen some very respectful debates and conversations in YouTube comment sections. I've also seen lighthearted banter and friendliness there, too. But honestly, there are just so many trolls and spiteful people commenting on YouTube videos that I pretty much never participate. I often don't spend much time reading comments because there is a lot of negativity out there, and I'd rather not dwell on it. ^^

It doesn't bother me at all to be honest. I don't reply to comments or argue on a regular basis anymore because I feel like i've hit a point in my life where I don't really get offended by anything.

If they're really angry and cursing at me, then that's their problem. Or maybe they just want their criticism to be expressed in the most clear, transparent way possible. I'll listen to comments like that, even if they're like that. Some people will just yell so that others can't talk (Real life only). Some other people scream and curse on the internet to either offend you, or desperately want to be listened and obeyed. I would just tell them that no means no if they just want something. If they want me to do something, I might listen to them.

This is a big topic imo. Multiple answers in multiple scenarios. It just depends for me. But like I said, it generally/usually doesn't affect me.

Never read YouTube comments under any circumstances. If you indulge in such a curiosity and comb through some of them, you'll end up questioning why humans sometimes act the way they do.

It's funny what people say when they're beyond repercussions for their behavior. In the past I did the same thing, although I've outgrown it...mostly. Every now and then something riles me up enough to really tear into it. In any case, people's behavior online doesn't bother me in the slightest. It's funny to note, though, that the comments on porn sites tend to be a lot more positive and respectful than the ones on YouTube.

The comments are only hurtful if you want them to be. And of course I know that is easier said than done at times, and some people make a hobby of getting under others skin,  but let's be real... if you read something you truly don't like... or something that truly offends you, you can continue to read and continue to be upset/offended, you can reply or argue with them and continue to be upset/offended... or you can go do or read something else that does not upset or offend you. Offense is never given... only taken, and at the end of the day, no matter what they are saying, it is you who are continuing to offend yourself by continuing to read something you find upsetting. You don't have to buy what the troll is selling.

Anonymity allows many people to do and say many things they normally would not in the general populace. I do think people should watch what they say and think before they speak/write... but I am not the thought police, nor Miss. Manners nor anyone's parent or divine being watching over their shoulder with thunderbolt in hand. I cannot control how others act and behave, I can only control how those acts and behavior affect me.

Youtube comments are run by 12 year olds.  All I see is idiots swearing at each other most of the time and tossing out arguments with almost nothing to support them.  Some comments are so silly and random I have to pause for a second to process WTF I just read.  Then there are the mega flame wars that are just mindbogglinging to look through.  I remember one time were there was a comment on a Furry cringe compilation (I was not the one watching it was somebody else)  that went something like "that man who tried to use Chlorine gas on Furries is a hero and has restored me faith in humanity!"  The comment had about 120 likes and 500 replies.  Yes, FIVEHUNDRED replies.  The things people argue about in some comment sections is just idiotic sometimes.

Living in a world where you can sue a website because someone said something mean to you on that website would be a horrible world to live in.

Maybe those people should grow a backbone instead of youtube?

And not just that, but YouTube also does nothing on removing stolen videos, much less their usernames being stolen. Its like they lost their nerve or will to do anything.

Most YouTube commentators can be so immature and just troll others because they feel like it. When I see that sort of stuff on my content, I just delete them and even block them on my channel. Replying to those comments is just going to fuel their fire.

If you face any of these events, there's this one clip you must remember from an episode in Wonder Over Yonder.

Pretty much keyboard warriors. Saw them pretty often, even had one in my own videos, but blocked the a-hole before he managed to do any significant damage. Best way to treat this kind of people is to ignore them. There are civil people on YouTube or just  hilarious ones with whom You will laugh hard when You start trading "punches" or jokes. YouTube community can be amazing and fun, You just have to know where to look and avoid looking on videos that go for most extreme reactions.

It's same everywhere, really. Even in Overwatch which is known for hard stance against trolls etc You can run into these people. Just avoid them and You'll be fine ^^
