That's ridiculous, some people can be mean and sometimes feelings can be hurt, but deleting your account is drastic. We're all bronies here, we should all be understanding here. If any fandom anywhere is going to forgive you for the past, its this one. No matter what somebody does, we should be able to forgive them and understand.

Just because some ponies got offended (assuming they really did) that doesn't mean nopony wants you here.

Sensitive topics are sensitive for a reason as you have noticed. That's where opinion-wars can most likely start. Personally I'm trying to avoid triggering sensitive subjects, as it often leads to arguing. To not search far, religion and politics are the subjects, that shouldn't be really discussed and I'm pretty sure I don't even have to say why. Even trying to harmlessly state an opinion can lead to war.

 

What I'm trying to say is that, it's just how it works. We all are different and we can disagree with each other. Some ponies will respect having different opinions or beliefs (like I do), some will fight for their 'rightness', even if they're completely mistaking.

Also remember, that it's not just about you - many people touching these subjects get 'flamed' by others, who disagree with them. Don't take it personally, that's just how people express their opinions.

 

Either way, there are many other things to do, than touching sensitive subjects. If you feel, that these topics didn't go well, consider doing less 'drastic' things and ask general questions or join some simpler discussions.

I don't even have idea what exactly happen, but I don't think you can count me in that 'community' yet.   I don't want you to leave, does that count?

Aaaaanyway even if the ship is sinking, you can't abandon it.

However if you really would like to leave and take down your things, then what you can do is to remove your profile picture, profile information, contact methods and rename your account. Additionally you can edit your posts, where some personal information is posted.

 

Deleting an account would lead to confusion. For example if somebody was quoting/replying to you, it will look weird if your post would not exist.  That's one of the reasons why members can't delete their posts, as it would be a way to troll other members.

 

Though again, consider staying in the herd. Running away isn't always the best solution.
