If the ponies or others act as mythological characters, who would they act as?

If it were possible that the Mane 6, or any other pony/dragon/gryphon/zebra character from the show auditioned as actors for any mythological character of their choice, who do you think they will choose (like Achilles, Aeneas, Ra, Horus, Hercules, etc.), and why?

 

Preferrably, you can make your list of possible choices as long as you want -- just be creative, and try to list down the reasons for each character's choice of who to act as!

Celestia = Zeus + Helios: Well duh. Ruler who's throne is a mountain, brings the sun, defeated a force of chaos in the past.

 

Luna = Hercules: Sounds kind of weird but think about it. Did something horrible in the past, is a close and beloved relation to the aforementioned Zeus figure, main arc is spent in penance?

 

Twilight = Athena: Pretty straightforward as far as I'm concerned. Goddess of wisdom, most beloved of the resident top deity. Also one of the only who can rival the big three in terms of power and status. Bonus points for Owlicious.

 

Rainbow Dash = Ares: Brash, quick to act and slow to think, physically oriented, competitive, not above cheating if pressed. I know this more reflects how she started than where she is now but the initial similarities are there.

 

Applejack = Demeter: Goddess of the harvest, ferociously protective of her family, stubborn.

 

Rarity = Hera + Odysseus: Yes Rarity is a primadona who loves attention and can be quite wrathful to those who spurn her (especially romantically as Blue Blood and Trenderhoof found out.) But Rarity has something that bitch never had and a great hero had in spades . . . cunning. She knows how to use guile and tact the same way Odysseus did.

 

Pinkie Pie = Dionysus: Pinkie probably would love to hang with the god of wine and he would be suitably impressed with some of the wild bashes she has thrown. Revelry and "if it feels good, do it!" hedonism are what Pinkie excels at.

 

Fluttershy = Artemis: Probably the strongest connection aside from Twilight and Celestia. Not only does Fluttershy match the archetype of being a ward to the wilderness and the creatures who call it home she is also, to be somewhat crass, the most virginal of the Mane Six as Artemis was the eternal virgin. Perhaps surprisingly she also matches the goddesses levels of wrath. We all know of Fluttershy's few outbursts are all the more memorable for their volume and Artemis similarly was quite cruel with those who even accidentally offended her, just ask Actaeon after his own hunting dogs are done digesting him.

I think it is pretty clear that Sunset Shimmer would be a pheonix 

As in mythology the pheonix is used to represent renewal of life and arising from the ashes of it's predecessor.

And that is quite comparable to her storyline of going from being a power hungry bully rejecting friendship only for Twilight and company to show her another way.

That lead to Sunset Shimmer being lost and into her darkest moments, only to come out of it a better and more compassionate

And that even allowed for her to teach others who are in similar position to her, such as what happened at the end of Friendship Games, making for one of my favorite EQG/FIM scenes, in which Sunset reaches out and defeats Midnight Sparkle through empathy.

That lead to Sunset Shimmer being lost and into her darkest moments, only to come out of it a better and more compassionate

And that even allowed for her to teach others who are in similar position to her, such as what happened at the end of Friendship Games, making for one of my favorite EQG/FIM scenes, in which Sunset reaches out and defeats Midnight Sparkle through empathy.

 

Sunset as a phoenix would be beautiful, especially when her costume is properly designed.

 

But what about the others? What roles will they play?
