Get Hype For The My Little Pony Movie The New Official Logo

Just when things were getting slow we finally get some new info on the movie plus this new sleek version of the logo! Looking pretty sharp, eh? But that isn't the most important news to break from Variety today as they are also reporting that Zoe Saldana is now part of the MLP Movie!

Starring in such films as Avatar as Neytiri, the Star Trek movies as Uhura, Guardians of the Galaxy and more according to her IMDb page. The star power is really adding up, I just wonder what part she will play?

Thanks to the countless folks for sending it in!

I can't get hyped if my favorite pony isn't in the movie now this doesn't make any sense since the Mane 6 are not what they used to be, Rainbow and AJ are the only decent ones, Twilight and Pinkie are just shells of their old selves and are also unbearable and Fluttershy and Rarity never really had roles to begin with. If this came out somewhere in 2011 to 2013, it would make sense but this is 2017 and we have a new pony who had a major role in S6.

While it's true Glimmer did play a role in Season 6, she is a supporting character and not a member of the Mane 6. It's likely she'll make a small cameo in the movie but it makes more sense for her not to join the Mane 6 and Spike on their journey. She could stay back and watch the castle. I for one am pretty excited!

I think the Starlight fans will get some sort of compensation for her like having more episodes in future seasons for not having a major role in the movie, in other cases, here's hoping AJ gets a major role in the movie.

Yeah, all that reformation was treated like a big deal, but Starlight's role felt pretty inconsequential until the finale . Hope her role is expanded in S7, like more roles, or having to interact with at least one of the other Mane6 or something, as she seems to not have a part in the movie.... unless they're pulling a Sunny in Rainbow Rocks :dash:. Remember the ads and trailers of Rainbow Rocks where Sunny was forgotten until like a month before the release? Maybe they're pulling the same with Starlight :dash:

The fact that Starlight isn't on the logo seems a bit inconsistent to me, she had a big role in the two parters last season and The Mane 6 had practically minor roles compared to hers and Twilight was more of a mentor to Starlight and a supporting character in the other episodes, without her appearance it made it look like that what happened at the finale never happened to the Mane 6 and they were never captured unless Starlight somehow defeats Chrysalis in the S7 finale.

AWWW ADORABLE!!

Personally I don't really mind who will get their role or not. To be honest the whole story in MLP from the very first episode through all the seasons (basically Twilight getting friends, studying magic of friendship and becoming an alicorn) is good enough to make a movie, where it all is nicely connected. I mean showing the whole wonderful story from all the seasons in one great movie. Of course, it all would be spoiled that way, but I totally wouldn't mind it as I still prefer things like this, than making a totally out of place storyline, not saying, that MLP does these ~ I had other movie<->game<->show<-movie ports.  :rarity:

Anyway, the main characters of the show originally were and still are the mane 6, so let's not forget about that. Princess Celestia and Princess Luna also have big roles and they're not on the logo either. Mane6 and spike are iconic ponies (poor Spike jk and dragons of course) of the show, so no wonder why the logo shows only them. Who could appear on the logo's background as well could be the main villain of the movie - that's how it usually works with these.

Apparently Starlight will not be the main character/villain of the movie, so that's why she's not on the logo. It seems that it won't be "My Little Pony: Starlight Becomes Nice - The Movie" (no offense of course)

Either way as long as mane 6 will be there (which is how the show was designed in the first place) I can't complain at all!  :D

Welp, let's see what happens!  ^_^

I can't believe that I haven't commented on the movie's official logo before until now. In my opinion, it looks bright and colourful, ideal representation of some of what MLP stands for. I wonder if it will receive an additional sub-title or it will remain as it is.

Yep, it seems like my suspicions about the animation style were correct.

Some people were excited about the new animation software, Toon Boom Harmony, that was used in the movie, since The Moon Rises was made with the same software.

While it is true that that kind of quality is possible with Toon Boom, the time constraints would be too much.

The logo seems to support my theory that the characters will be better animated (e.g. with more shading), they will still retain their familiar look in the show.

It doesn't stop me from being hyped. I was hyped since I saw a side note on the episode list on Wikipedia, when it was still a rumor and not fully confirmed.

Now for my theory about what the movie is going to be about. Before, I had no idea, I was just hoping that it would be some sort of epic adventure.

Now, with this recent season, I have a fairly reasonable, yet outlandish theory.

With recent episodes, they have been slowly setting Starlight up as Twilight's student of friendship, and even her leadership role in To Where and Back Again. Now, it might be just me, but it seems like they are setting her up to take Twilight's place.

Really, this is not unprecedented. Lauren Faust's original plan was to have Twilight eventually take Celesita's place. Rarity already has a boutique in Canterlot. Rainbow Dash is a Wonderbolt. And Pinkie, Applejack, and Fluttershy are happy where they are. All their "destinies" have been completed, and now Twilight has a new student, the star of last season's finale.

My theory is that the 2017 MLP Movie is sort of a last hurrah, a sort of "series finale" for the Main 6 as we know them, still characters in the show, but the focus will be changed onto new characters.

Now, I have no idea how they would do this, but the thought had been percolating in my mind even before I remembered that there was a movie coming up that was A.) planned for a long time, and B.) was kept very secret. I mean, usually there are some sort of leaks or spoilers. And this has been in production for a while. So whatever it is, I think it is going to be big.

And I am just fine either way, whether I am wrong or right.

As much as I love our Mane 6, I think a new cast of characters is a welcome change. The 6 stay in the show, but I really like a variety is nice, and... to be honest, they are far too... competent right now. Most of the flaws in episodes come from bad writing, and the natural flaws they had before are still present, but as personality traits instead of crippling problems. A set of new, flawed characters is perfect. And I have a feeling Trixie, and maybe even Discord, may be some of those characters. Trixie is now nice, but has plenty of problems, and they have even had a couple episodes where Discord learned specific friendship lessons. All of them are new to the concept of friendship, just like Twilight at the beginning of the show.

Anyway, that's just a theory. Maybe that will just be in the season. Or maybe I'm just completely wrong, and Starlight will go the route of Sunset Shimmer, never completely utilized to her potential.

1. Highly doubt these are the official character designs. Time constraint shouldn't be an issue since this movie has been in production for nearly 3 years now.

2. It's not a series finale. I keep hearing guarantees of it yet the fact that there's MLP plans up to 2019 according to Hasbro doesn't support it.

1. By "time constraint," I mean that 3 years is not enough time to make an hour-long movie in the same style as "The Moon Rises."

2. Sorry for the confusing language. I did not mean the series was ending. I knew it wasn't. I meant that for the most part, the Mane 6 might take more of a background role, and this would be a sort of "finale" for them.

1. There's a thing called advancement in technology and higher budget. Otherwise every 2D Disney film would be animated in flash. So I don't buy at all what you're saying.

2. Not going to happen in FIM because this movie is not an official part of the series, much like EG isn't.

I am not saying there is no chance that you are right. I'm just saying that it is unlikely that they will have that much detail. I would love it if it did. And I don't think they quite have as much staff as Disney. Even so, they are making the main show at the same time. I do think it will be better animated. I just don't think it will be as amazing as what some are hoping.

2. All right. It was just a theory, like I said. But that doesn't completely rule out my theory, either. Still, it isn't as likely. I didn't know it wouldn't be canon.
