Chugga Chugga...

I think I can....

I know I can....

The whistle echoed into the open chambers of the rounded station. The feels pistoning and hissing about with radiant steam hissing from the releasing of hydrogen pressure built from its core letting out the excess water vapor to roll up into the open ceiling above. In the inner settings of the walled locale of Haybale City. Quiet.

Seems like everypony only knows quietness.

"Now arriving at Gate B - 2. All Passengers boarding train LA - 6B Please line at Gate B- 2." The automated voices of the announcer echoed in the near empty station.

REACTOR

"Looks rather empty today.." Stepped out the two reactor assistants, one speaking to the other as they lean on the supports of their small lookout rail, the train slowing its momentum as it attaches ahead to the blockers.

"Less and less are traveling. No pony wants the risk- hey? You spoke with Daisy about those missing Corn chips? Turns out that business mare last trip ordered them all." Rosemary spoke, taking a brief drag from her Poison Joke branded Cigs from her coat pocket.

"... Eh. It's not a big deal.. " Kellogg muttered looking out to the spacious missing train slots along the circular interior.

Just exiting ahead from his hold, Zuck, their Train Master slide open the metallic drab door and hopped off.

"Those things will kill ya Rose." The elder Unicorn commented.

"Gotta die of something." Came the simple reply.

STATION FLOOR

Just following ahead awaiting to join at his size was the middle aged Julian Hoofington, a veteran Coach Master, who gave a respectful nod as they made their way to the Station Nav Center to get their new route setting.

"It's a quiet night." Julian shared with his fellow unicorn.

"Eeyup." Came the simple reply as they approached the self opening doors matching the similar drab tan coloring. The typing and scribbling of the ponies inside clammering about with their reports and replies.

SECURITY CART

Stepping out in his typical leather jacket and obvious patch hat, his ear fitting through the holes upon the tops of them.

Swiping his Secur-Card upon the blocky insertor, causing the plastic lock frame to reveal the keypad.

0 - 5 - 1 - 5

With the sealed office door open he exited outward and down the hall passing one of his fellow guards. Finally at the exit and sliding open with a hiss Patrinko took a whiff into the warm night air. Giving a slight stretch he then hopped down from the pirch onto the walkway off to the right of the train. A similar destination in mind as the coach and train masters.

TURBO KILLER

Half of Galm team now awaiting on the side of the front gunner cart leaned upon the railing of the side- walkway watching about to the other carts in their blocker posts. Artyom and Glebb await outside passing about a small back of Muncher crisps- adorned in their basic light armored chest rigs and paddings upon their shoulders and knees. Their medium grade rifles hung by slings upon their hips.

"You boys comfy?" A gruff voice of Jaqius calling out as the griffon sat upon the top of hatch of the 25mm. Upon the beige bird's head sat his targeting helmet, the red lensed visors angled upward for a good view of his gray eyes.

"Its nice weather tonight." Artyom spoke in his thick accent.

"Maybe if we're lucky- we get not passengers tonight. I'm soooo calling them Business class seats" Glebb pitched in taking a quick bite on the tortillia chips.

Passenger Cart - Kitchen

Dandy and Grimm~ Dandy Annnd -

"Please. Stop with that." Grimm whispered as he furiously washed at the dishes.

"Oh hush darling. Always with your... 'Grim' attitude!" Dandy gave a wicked lip bite in his mischevious manner.

"Get those bloody vaccums emptied. We might get passengers." Grimm replied in annoyance placing the final dish into the drainer.

"We don't even have our listings ready." Came the reply from the pale crimson unicorn.

"Regardless, Hoofington wants it done. Don't get another chew out Dandy." Grimm gave an uttering complaint.

Exiting out and into the hall connecting to it and the Economy seats came stepping down from the upper floor.

"Good day Mr. Fancy Pants." Came the cheeriness.

With a sly smile from the older unicorn he gazed at the youthful counterpart.

"A good day sir." Came the elegant flow from the celebrity fashion pony.

"Taking a step out sir?" He asked as the unicorn dragged about the vaccum canisters from their machines.

"I do find it the right oppritunity I suppose. Maybe a quick drag I suppose." Fancy replied catering to the his little soft pack poking from his inner shirt pocket.

So it had come to this.

For too long, Ophelia had been trapped in this city, making barely enough to get by, but too poor to leave.  If only her parents were still around, things would be different.  Then again, they were probably rolling over in their shallow graves as they watched the choices their only daughter was making.  At least antiques were still in demand, but she wasn't making nearly as much money off of them as she could.  She should have sold her circlet sooner, but she could never bring herself to part with it.  It was only thing she had that reminded her of better times, when the Crystal Empire still stood, when only the wild forests and mountains were full of danger.

Now that she had the money, she was off to better prospects.  She had heard that Manecouver was much more affluent, and that believed whole-heartedly that her wares would sell much better there.  That was all she needed, a new, fresh start, and her fortunes would turn.  Perhaps she might be able to afford a real apartment, and not just a tenement that she shared with another family.

So many ponies in such a tight space.  So many feelings and emotions.  So much despair and suffering.  So much pain.

As the train rolled in, the young mare sat in silence, her mind reaching out to those around, sensing for danger as she hid her features beneath her dark coat.  There would be others with her, but not too many, it seemed.  That was good.  She was tired of crowds.

For once, Lance was smiling.

Usually, a frown was plastered on his face as he did a chore or some other way to make money. Or a fake grin in an attempt to please his few customers. But this time, he was actually happy. He was finally escaping. He wouldn't have to live in an alleyway, hoping that a thug wouldn't decide to destroy all he had built up. It was time for a new life. Lance whistled a tune as the train pulled up. Well, this is it. Even though nopony seemed to be looking at him, he felt as if he was being watched. He shook off the feeling, and waited for the train.

WALKWAY - PASSENGER CART

" - I be telling ya. It's getting worse out there. Have you seen those audio transcripts from Titan? It was only 2 months we last saw them." William spoke to his comrade walking about along the side walkways of the armored hulls of the passenger cart.

"You worry too much." Zachia mumbled keeping his brisk walk pace as the two approached to the rest of their squad. The uniting two exchanging brief welcomes.

"Boss dog is off getting the route reviews." Artyom spoke before taking another munch from the chips.

"Saw him pass by. Please be a short route.." Zachia whispered leaning back against the hull.

Station Head

"Your blocker code is printed out." The assistant director informed.

"Still need that route review." Zuck muttered looking about at the station mapping.

"Eh it look like a big one. Still calculating your route..." Came the reply.

Exiting out from the Directors office came Hoofington joining his fellow master.

"Heading back to the train- it might be a long one." He said, prompting a disappointed expression.

"No don't tell me that.." The elder unicorn complained.

"I'm tellin ya, they're making us do the heavy work." He said, passing by Patrinko carefully as he exited.

"All the way to fucking Manecouver..." He whispered as he picked up his pace down the steps.

Lory widened up her mouth and shut her eyes, followed by a long, satisfying yawn. Small droplets of tear formed in her lacrimal caruncles after that, as she swiftly rubbed them off with her hoof. It seemed like her ride was finally approaching.

The Unicorn mare had been waiting there for quite a long time - then again, she arrived at the station rather early as well. She took that opportunity to perform her long-deserved nap after a few days of wandering about the barren lands of the once prosper Equestria. Not that she wasn't used to living in the streets by that point, but evidently, the Ever-Ending incident made that task considerably more challenging. The one place in the world which Lory was able to call "home" to some extent had abandoned her when she most needed it. But nevertheless, mourning the past never suited her style.

She slowly made her way towards the boarding platform, looking down at the rails that would bring forth the monstrous carriage, which would hopefully become her hotel room for the next couple of days. The fact that she had been able to afford that ticket amazed her, but she did usually have means to get by. Case in point, she would be taking an economy class seat - after all, she couldn't possibly wish for anything more than a chair to sit on and a meal to gobble up. Amidst everything that was going on in her life, she held high expectations of that journey.

Lory sat down on the station's floor next to the few ponies that gradually began crowding up around the deserted area. Still half-asleep, she stared at some of the faces and gave each of them a smug smile as a greeting.

"Whoo-wee! Here it comes, cupcakes!" She exclaimed to anyone near earshot, meant more as a way to shake herself awake.

The little grouping of security and reactor personel look over at the source of the sudden exclamation all eyes briefly gazing at the mare in her sleepy stupor.

"Lets hope she ain't one of them crazies." Artyom muttered talking amongst their group.

[CARGO HOLD]

With their loading bay doors slid opened the two mares jump about and approaching in brisk pace to the unloading station just under the steps of the Station Head Office

"Gotta get these pallet loads fast!" The dark cyan unicorn ushered. Using her magic enveloping the latch handle and sliding open the wheeled doors. They were lucky their cargo was lined up first.

Her companion, an indigo pegasus, hovered over to the end and pushed forward with the pallet crate in tow on its wheeled cart, the senior unicorn following in suit pushing another with her magical abilities.

"Marge just star binning these first two and keep going as I bring more of them out." The unicorn ordered.

"Got it boss." The pegasus obliged.

Techno had tried to time himself to arrive at the station right when the train started boarding. He actually didn't do much work on this as his CPU was running the auto route system where he walks on a pre-set route automatically without having to doing anything like move his legs. He then arrived at the gate and still he was still a bit earlier than he planned. He actually never expected to be in royalty class for this trip but his boss who was the CEO of Celestial labs.inc insisted that he went in royalty class because this was a new train that no one in the company had been on yet and because of Techno's new vehicle system monitoring program. He then took a seat opposite the gate and booted up the new program to test it. The program very quickly booted and gave him an error that he wasn't in a vehicle which Techno was expecting. He ad least knew that the program functioned properly and now he just had to wait around for a while...

Train Station

@@Driz

Lance jumped when the pony hollered the exclamation. He hadn't seen her at all, and he had been waiting at the station for who knows how long.

More ponies were crowding into the station. Well, 'crowding' wasn't an accurate word. More like standing around, and trying to avoid touching anypony else. At least, that's what Lance was doing.

Haybale City Station

The hooded mare jolted at the sudden outburst, but at least she could say that she had some warning of it.  There was a growing satisfaction in the room, that much was certain.  As weak as it was, however, it could possibly be just somepony putting on airs to fix the mood.  There seemed to be little reason for it right now.

Ophelia silently watched the train pull in, patting her pockets to make sure she had all of her carry-ons in order.  She hadn't come this far to drop something valuable.

Lance had expected mainly drunks, crazies or criminals to be boarding the train with him. He brought a pocket knife, which he kept hidden in his hoodie. But one pony stood out; she looked rather shy and didn't seem to be armed, nor did she look drunk or insane. And yet, she still looked as if she was going to board economy class.. I'm willing to bet that she's going to get mugged.  Welp, sucks to be-- oh, who am I kidding? I'm probably going to try to help her if she gets robbed and get myself killed. He sighed and watched the train pull in.

STATION FLOOR

With route copy in hoof the two train masters and following security head make their return toward their railed vessel. Marge and Daisy already hard at work loading up the cargo and supplies things seem to be going appropriately.

Passing close to the rear cannon seat, Fenrir awaits resting at the rails.

"Don't stand about lazy mutts! Help these poor ladies out!" Patrinko barked loudly in order.

With little hesitation the three canines and equine hop off in brisk pace approaching towards the store room doors to unload rolling them out toward the cargo container.

"Looks like a line forming. Go ahead and punch them in." Zuck gave the clear for Hoofington. With a soft sigh Hoofington picked up his pace approaching the gate to allow the newcomers in.

With his ticket scanner held in magic he approached to the gate unlaching the wire and standing by.

Ticket. Right. After a few seconds of searching in his hoodie and being cut more than once with his pocketknife, he found his Economy Class ticket. Rushing to the front of the line, ticket ready, he held it out to the gate worker. "Howdy." Lance greeted the employee.

With a tip of his small cap upon his head he examined the fine printed ticket, examining from top to bottom. Matching numbers and labels all from the confines of his memoried head.

Holding out the bulky scanner device he scanned at the bar code replying with a loud BEEP.

Overlooking the screen he nodded.

"Welcome aboard Lance. Please step through and enter into the first door on your right. My assistant will be with you in a moment." He informed stepping by to let him in.

Lory had a somewhat goofy smile displayed on her face, and combined with the half-closed eyelids, one could think she simply had one too many drinks. However, that was just how she - and most likely anyone else - reacted when they were abruptly awoken from a nap by a sudden metallic voice from a railroad station's rusty speakers. Struggling to stay awake, she kept on checking out the other ponies that gathered around, noticing that some of them had a somewhat uneasy look on their faces. Reasonable, at the very least, considering how dangerous life outside the settlements have been as of late. With an impish smirk, she briefly considered messing with them in good fun. But soon after that thought crossed her mind, a train operative announced the opening of the gates.

The pink mare steadily reached for her saddlebag, retrieving the train ticket, and got in line. Once it was her turn, she levitated the ticket towards the pony by the cart's entrance.

"I expect my bed sheets to be cleaned with running fountain water at least three times a day. Be a dear and fetch me a fine Canterlotian true chocolate bar, if you may." Lory held her nose up high in a noble stance, before breaking character with a lively laugh. "I'm joking, honey. I'll be in the economy class, like most of us bums out here."

"Danke." Lance thanked the worker, and followed the directions he had been given. He waited for said assistant to do whatever he was going to do-- hopefully point Lance to where economy seating was-- and get settled for an average trip. Well, as average as you can get in this wasteland.

Passenger Cart

Lance had sat down in a train seat and was trying to get comfortable. It was difficult, because whenever he moved, something poked him, whether it be his knife, something in the seat or something else. And he was 99% sure he had seen a small spider crawl back into the seat when he had sat down. I'm not very picky, but I hope the economy class is at least slightly better. To take his mind off of the spider (He hated spiders.) he began to whistle his tune again.

The mare sent a thank you nod towards the train's attendant after he scanned the coupon, and stepped inside the massive locomotive. Like she was instructed, after a couple of steps she found herself in the passenger cart's economy class. She looked around the area briefly: just like the title suggested, it seemed... economic. A somewhat military sort of feel poured from every nook and cranny of the train's interior, akin to a safety bunker during war times. It was fitting, if anything else. Lory was excited, like she was embarking on a true adventure. She was about to experience firsthoof just how safe the CJTS claimed to be.

She quickly scanned the seats, soon finding an empty one next to a ponies she'd seen outside earlier, who seemed to be whistling a song. With a maniacal smile, she sneakily, quietly made her way towards the seat, and once she was close enough, she jumped onto it full of energy.

"Hey there!" Lory greeted the hopefully unaware pony. "Is this seat taken? Pfft, well, it is now! So, how's it going? Hey, hey, what song were you singing just there??"

Lance had zoned out, and wasn't really paying attention to his surroundings, which made the scare ten times more effective. He actually jumped about an inch off the seat, almost comically. However, he was able to quickly gather himself and reply to the pony that had frightened him. "Uh, hi. What song was I singing? I don't know, I just whistle it when I'm bored. I, um, made it up." Lance smiled sheepishly.

The mare waited for the crowds to thin before she pulled her ticket out from a side pocket, holding it in her teeth as she approached the train master.  She silently held it out to him, waiting for him to take it.  Her gaze found their way to his, her eyes shining like pink tourmalines beneath the shadow of her hood.  She open her mind, penetrating him with naught but an inquisitive curiosity.  Should she expect a safe trip?  Was there reason to be concerned?

Lance wasn't hungry, but he figured he might as well. "Sure. What do you have?" He was skeptical, as his dirty seat and the economy class area told him that the food wouldn't be the best of quality, but all Lance wanted was edible food, and he would be pretty happy.
