rainbow rocks The Dazzlings were insanely better than the Rainbooms

I don't think anyone can really argue against this, if this were just a legitimate competition and the Dazzlings played fair they would've won regardless.

But that wasn't their plan, which was to gain power from people's anger and possibly take over the world, and by the end of the movie the Rainboom's goal was to stop them, rather than win

Got a point actually. But hey, they're villains, and need to be stopped, something about the greater good, blah blah blah blah blah, all of that noise.

I actually appreciate that this is the only one of all four movies to have an ACTUAL main antagonist rather than some character transformed by dark magic. I mean sure Freindship Games has Cinch, but it's not really the same thing.

This is actually true. The Dazzlings have been performing their craft for ages compared to the Rainbooms who had only been practicing as a group for about a couple of weeks. Had the Battle of the Bands come down to who was better at the art of music along with the passion behind it, the Dazzlings would have won hands down. And yet, their only concern involved regaining their magic back, defeating the purpose of them wanting to win legitimately.

I wouldn't go THAT far; personally. Granted if we're talking overall, then I would agree as their first two songs were better, but the final one was lacking, IMO. The Rainboom song was adequate at best, but Sunset's song blew it all out of the water for me.

The Dazzlings were only better because they channel magic into their music. Had their gems not been shattered, they would have prevailed.

Or did you miss the part after their gems were shattered when they tried to sing and basically failed?

The Dazzlings may have been cheating, but their songs definitely were better.

If it were simply a battle of the bands and no extra plotlines, they absolutely should have and would have won.

The Dazzlings had so much more practice (I mean, they're sirens, that's kind of their schtick) and really know what they're doing.

The Rainbooms' songs were... way more generic and not that great. They had much less practice, too.

The Rainbooms final song was fantastic even without the magic.

Funny - villains got to cheat even though they don't have to. Just like real life.

I actually didn't like Under Our Spell that much, mostly because they dropped it's title like two time before its first chorus. I do love Battle of the Bands and Welcome to the show. I actually liked all of the Rainboom's songs a teeny weeny bit more, but I might be biased since the Dazzlings don't have Fluttershy.

You do realize that the Dazzlings manufactured the entire "Battle of the Bands" themselves, don't you? The original idea (sans magical manipulation) was for a musical showcase, not a competition. So claiming that the Dazzling's should have won the battle they engineered for their own gain is entirely a moot point.

I just wish the resolution was more than Sunset singing and KABLAM Dazzlings can't sing anymore.

So do you wish the Dazzlings had won the contest that never would have happened if not for their interference, or are you dissatisfied with the climax overall? They are two rather separate issues, as far as I can see. Can you explain more what you were unhappy with?

Personally, I thought the climax was awesome. It gave Sunset Shimmer her confidence back, something she had been sorely lacking in the aftermath of her defeat in the first movie. Plus she finally integrated with the HuMane Six, and not to mention the giant gestalt entity that blasted the Dazzlings at the end.

The entire final boss fight at the end is a rather telling moment in the series itself. Without Sunset Shimmer, the Sirens actually would have won not just the contest, but the battle itself.

I still wonder what that says about the so called power of friendship?

Their songs were considerably better, though the song Fluttershy wrote was by far the best of the Rainbooms. Trixie came in third, and I'd love to have heard the CMC song or LyBonbon or whatever we're calling it now :P

The fact it took a wild variable like Sunset Shimmer to actually win the end fight has always struck me as interesting, even Twilight's burst is overpowered by Adagio. Eventually this interest turned into my project Equestrian City, but thats a whole other story.

The Siren's songs were no doubt constructed in a way to be entirely supreme due to their age (lets not forget Starswirl was around during the founding of Equestria, so assuming his lifespan was average, those girls have been there for a LONG time) and their craft being that of manipulation. I'd say it's a solid conclusion that they would have won.

Even though this is about the dazzlings, I think if they weren't there and the school decided to have a battle of the bands with the Rainbooms not having any magic, that Trixie would have one fair and square without Siren influence. She did make it to the semi finals without magic and, if the sirens aren't there to ruin everything, she would have made it to the finals too and probably won because the rainbooms were having issues, which only got sorted because Sunset Shimmer noticed the Sirens were feeding of there magic. But if there's no dazzlings, that means friendship issues, which means bad performance which means Trixie wins. Also they only beat the Dazzlings thanks to Sunset Shimmer, if there's no dazzlings to beat then Sunset wouldn't have joined there band which also means not a good performance. I do agree the Dazzlings music was way better, and if they could sing naturally without there magic necklaces, they would have one easily. But we have to come to terms with they cheated, and that they can't sing. If they entered the competition with bad voices, they would have lost, unless they were good and weren't hungry for magic, they could have practiced became, good singers without magic and win. (It's possible) but that's only if they had weeks to prepare and didn't come up with idea, which they did. The Sirens didn't want to win or we don't think they do. They just wanted there magic back and doing the Battle of the Bands, at the school, with all the magic, was the only good excuse to get it and it was a good one. They only made it to the finals because they were "great singers" (totally not cheating and mind controlling everyone so they could get to the Rainbooms). Then, they would battle said rainbooms, win, take all there magic and ditch that school to rule the world probably, I mean they didn't care about anyone there, not even each other, only working together to get the magic they deserved while manipulating and using people on the way. They probably planned after they got there magic to get there revenge on Equestria. Or, maybe that's would have happened if Sunset Shimmer left or was expelled for her behaviour. Which is more realistic actually, considering she wanted to make an army of her own and destroy Equestria) Long story short: the battle of the band song and stuff was decoy to get there magic back. They didn't need anyone, just needed everyone to fight for it so they could buy themselves time and to do that they had to praise them, calling them stars when they probably didn't give a damn. Too bad they were foiled by the people they tried to steal from lol. But they probably should have thought since Sunset lost to them, they should run too because they would get there butt's wooped, too bad they had such big egos to think about it. The Dazzlings were just to proud.

I wonder if they got there magic they would have betrayed each other. Though considering they've been together as a group for over 100 years. Maybe not. I also wondered if they went there separate ways since they lost. Rainbow Rocks certainly left alot of questions. No the whole series did, especially since it didn't get finished. (I'm not gonna name any of the questions it will just cause me to think of more from the ones already there and the theories and headcanons and there's too many already it will already cause me to rant more than I already am lol.) Why do I always do this? Make long comments for Jo reason on a short topic. Maybe because I'm weird but seriously..

Under Our Spell really is an absolute bop, but I don't like how Welcome to the Show is basically considered Dazzlings/Rainbooms when the songs/melody are completely different, but if you want to listen they are both lumped into the same song technically, and this was in my honest opinion aside from Awesome as I Wanna Be, their only good song..
