I for one never really li- lived for the like/dislike system. It is a 50/50 split between liking or disliking it. Usually some of the videos I watch on YouTube are average, so I do not click on the like button. If I liked the video, I click the like button. Simple right? Youtubers just asking for a like at the end of a video is just annoying to me. I get that clicking on the like button would bring their video higher in the search results. However just liking every single video I come across loses my definition of what 'like' means. It just turns it into some involuntary action.

Basically I will like the video if I like it. I still miss the 5 star rating system YouTube used to have.

I'll occasionally "like" a YouTube video that I especially enjoy, but I never hit "dislike", as I find it to be a little demotivating. :)

Also, I just tweaked your thread's title to let others know that you're referring to YouTube.

I usually “like” the videos I really enjoy, and dislike something very rarely.

Also, I tend to like videos made by bronies more frequently. The reason is brony creators often get so much hate, especially if they make crossover vids, and the fans from another fanbases come to check them out (just see the comments under ponifications of Battlefield 1 trailer and Steven Universe intro). So I try to support fellow bronies at least by leaving a like under the videos that I find good.

I'll only ever click on the like button if the video was one that truly appealed to me. And yes, I have clicked on the dislike button though only on three occasions. It would need to really get under my skin for me to resort to such an action.

It is sorta random for me. Sometimes I completely forget to do so, but other times the video just clicks with me, so I go ahead and like it. Any bit of support helps I guess. I do however automatically dislike any video that desperately asks me to like the video. Casually it is fine, but right at the beginning so you can get 1000 likes or something? Screw you.

I click it once in a while, if it inspires me to do so. I avoid Disliking anything because, well, "if you can't say something nice..." Most of the time I don't sign in, and seldom feel inspired enough to go through the extra effort just to leave a Like. I sometimes do, but not often.

I like videos if I really enjoyed them, but when that video is part of a series I tend to go to the next part right away without bothering to like the video first. I only dislike videos if they annoy me on every possible level.

Even though there are many videos that interest me, I very rarely touch the like/dislike button. All I wish is for YouTube to have a major overhaul, starting with Google, especially when it caused more problems than solving them.

Whenever I add a video to my favorites, I will always Like it. I hate it when someone says "Be sure to Like, favorite, comment, and subscribe" at the end of every video, especially if they have a good amount of subs already. People who do that make want to Dislike it.

Remember the days when you gave stars instead of a Like?

I recognize I'm pretty flaky about liking stuff which is why I'm glad this forum's need to stamp "bro" on everything gives me an excuse to not participate by default. Typically, I only ever like videos of music I like. I tend to not like videos of YouTubers talking/giving advice/opinions even if I agree with them or find what they said helpful. As I said, I'm flaky.

I click on the Like Button, whenever i like a Video.

I dont think, that Youtubers asking for a like, are annoying.

Some of them spend a lot of time on their Videos and reminding People of liking it, if they like it, is completely fine.

They deserve a little recognition and a little help, to get work known to People.

People who like something, but dont rate it, what so ever, is a little unfair.

If you like something, they deserve a little like or otherwise their work will be mostly ingored, which is sad.

I guess.

I personally havent liked anything for months, because i lost my password and im really tired of creating a new Account on Youtube, ever 3-4 Months.

For some reason, im soooooo stupid, that i never use my standard password, that i use for pretty much everything.

I use the like button quite frequently. I do it, because sometimes I really like a video, and I also do it because likes (and subs) and help out the YouTuber.

In contrast, I very rarely use the dislike button. The video has to be really bad for me to leave a dislike.

  • 4 years later...

Kinda rarely nowadays. I feel like a lot of content is following a formula of advertisement.

Even the best of the best are forced to stay with the formula to be picked up by the YouTube algorithm.

I am liking videos where the ones who created it specifically says they don't care, or they simply don't follow that formula of screaming out "Don't forget to subscribe.... etc". Also, content creators who begins their video by selling their t-shirts, I don't like. Same goes for content creators that chain-link their older videos, in order for you to understand what they are talking about. No likes for those! Also, click baits and memes don't get anything.
