What if Starswirl was punished by the ToH for banishing the Sirens?

The ToH has been shown to be sentient. Its ultimate goal is to unite ponies and other species through the power of friendship, as we've seen through Twilight and her friends, and the missions through the cutie map. Just as Twilight said in EQG...."Here and in Equestria, it is the only magic that can truly unite us all..." But what if someone chooses to go against that regimine of order, harmony, and unity? Well, we saw that back in HWE, that Wendigos are known to feed off fighting and hatred of a species, and literally bring blizzards that would freeze them to death. But their designs look an awful lot like the Sirens tho were banished from Equestria...they too fed off negativity and distrust of others- and like the Wendigoes, became stronger as they absorbed more of the negativity. What if the Sirens were simply written off to be the Wendigoes from olden pony lore? What if these Sirens were created by the ToH to lead the ponies to its lands as its only option, to offer them the opportunity of falling under its regimen of peace and harmony and controlled destinies? Seems odd to me, that in all these instances where threats to the ponies were defeated or imprisoned- it came about through use of the EoH, which are from the ToH. In the Wendigos instance, according to the HWE play- the “Wendigoes” were dispelled through a force of magic that likely originated from the tree itself- the Fire of Friendship- a sentient being that also created them was able to dispel them through the same magic. Further evidence of this is seen in “A Hearth's Warming Tale”. When Snowfall decided to create a spell that would eliminate HEW- a day where a race was led to the ToH's lands by its Sirens, and the tree initiated its regimen of unity for them- the Sirens- written as the “Wendigoes” appeared from the cauldron as foreshadowing to history repeating itself. When the Spirit of Hearth's Warming past showed up, she says “you don't think a spell like that would get by without some POWERFUL FORCES noticing.” That obviously being a reference to the ToH.

The ToH has shown to allow destruction, darkness, and imprisonment to come upon those who defy its offer of unity and harmony (Nightmare Moon, Sombra, Discord, Tirek, Sunset Shimmer, SciTwi). So what if, when Starswirl- a pony who knew not of friendship- banished the Sirens- who may have been agents to the ToH before the assigned roles of the element bearers, what if the Tree acted on that, deeming it an act of rebellion against its prospect of friendship, peace, and unity, decided for him to either be consumed by darkness, destroyed, or imprisoned?

Star Swirl has been depicted as being either a serious individual who lacks compassion when it's necessary, or being an eccentric character who acts like he's oblivious to everything and has an addiction to coffee. When he banished the Sirens, he believed that there was no other choice since his efforts at getting them to change proved ineffective, yet his lack of understanding friendship blinded him into thinking that. Had he a better grip of it, he could have saved them from themselves and from his actions of banishment. He also never told Celestia about it though I attribute that to her keeping secrets from him and he wanted to do something similar.

I think Star Swirl wasn't punished by the Tree of Harmony since what he did wound up saving Equestria, yet he would see it as his greatest mistake hence why he chose to never use the magic mirror ever again. This one mistake would haunt him the rest of his life and he went to his grave knowing that there was another way but he chose not to use it. If the tree had chosen to punish Star Swirl--assuming he knew about it as it appears only the royal sisters and Discord knew of its existence, it couldn't have done much since the punishment of eternal guilt would haunt him.

The sirens are creatures who feed off of and gain pleasure from the misery of others.

I think that kind of goes against what the Tree of Harmony stands for.

So I don't see why Starswirl would be punished for getting rid of them.

Hi, as this topic contains multiple references to EQG and is based around an event that was described in Rainbow Rocks, it has been moved to the appropriate board.
