Has the word "horse" ever been used in the show?

@@A.V.,    So... so your telling me... That not only did they go out of their way to turn a show specifically about cartoon horses into a human movie, wherein they almost defeat the entire point to the series...

But they also have a being that originally WAS a horse RIDE a horse?  Wouldn't that be extraordinarily awkward for SunSet Shimmer to be on top of a much more bulkily built version of what she once was?

I... I try not to be judgemental... the day I finally buck up & watch anything EQG will... be a dour day indeed. Lol... Sigh.

But to get to the topic at claw, Silver Letter did bring up that it has indeed been brought up as actually being a part of pony language. Though I get the feeling that's sort of like members of the human race casually talking about Homo Sapiens. It still applies, but its more archaic & outdated to where its awkward if you're not going for some sort of song lyric.

I believe the lesson in Season 1's Suited for Success was summed up by Twilight with, "You shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth"

And in the Best Night Ever, when A.J. set up an apple cart, this was said:

A.J.: Hungry?

Soarin': As a horse!

Never look a gift horse in the mouth, said 'Pinkie' when she wrapped herself up as a present in that Starlight Scrooge episode.

Twilight said that too, and then laughed... at that completely unfunny pun. Twilight's got a weird sense of humor. She laughs at unfunny puns, but smirks at Spike, Pinkie, or Starlight when they kid around or act sarcastic.

in the eppisode "Filli Vanilli", when big mac goes to zecora for a cure, she says "i can cure this pony that is 'hoars', but it will take a longer corse"

and i know she says hoars not horse... but still, dont know what word she says as everypony does change some words around...

lol.

by the way, thank you all!

"Look before you sleep" had the tale of the headless horse.

Ah yes, and then Scoots was afraid of the headless horse in Sleepless.

So, yeah, the term has been thrown around a bit here and there.  Technically, I believe horses and ponies are exactly the same species, it's simply that ponies are defined as horses that are below X height (whatever height that is.  They measure horse height in "hands".)

I like the second paragraph, but I don't think the first part is too outlandish. Heck, some fimfiction even have ponies eating each other, why should merely riding them be so strange?

wasn't Troubleshoes a horse?

don't remember if he was called a horse, otherwise he was one giant pony, which are basically horses...right?

I think he's supposed to be a draft horse, if I'm not mistaken, which are indeed the largest breed of horse.

I feel like such a nerd....

Season 1, "Best Night Ever." Personal favorite of mine.

Twilight turns some mice into horses, and after they run away (having been scarred by Rarity's cat Opalescence), Twilight laments "Those horses were supposed to pull our carriage."

Seriously, why do I know this?

But just saying, that was the first and most definitive use of the term. Ya'll got nothing on my nerdiness!!

Actually, the definition has another cutoff where the horse is no longer a pony, but instead a "miniature horse".  I don't recall where that cutoff is, either.  ...But the MLPs might actually be miniature horses :P

Another place where the word "horse" was used was in Flim's and Flam's first song...I think the lyrics were:  "Any pony can make a claim/And any horse can do the same!"

I'd always thought the terms "horse" and "pony" were more or less interchangeable in the show, at least in Equestria.  On the other hoof, maybe the word "horse" is just another term for "tall pony"?
