I say its a scam. Just don't trust those kind of online  sites at all. Rather meet someone in person and that way you know them better a lot more.

Thats my style of meeting someone and asking them in private if they are or not.

I wouldn't exactly call it a scam per se.

There ARE real people there including girls, but it cost money to even read a message. But even if you are willing to pay, that doesn't mean anybody else is, thus, It would be a waste of money.

So it's more of a failed idea than a scam.

But are there other Ponies there, that is the real question!

Take it from someone who's actually used it, you're much better off staying away from it. You have to purchase access to do just about anything, there are few people actually there, more bots than anything, and it just isn't a reputable site. You'd be much better off sticking to sites like OKCupid and POF. They both offer a lot of access for free, and from my personal experience, I've found both to work out very well.

I've seen it appear on Equestria Daily many times as an advertisement, but I've never clicked on it because I really don't see the point of it nor do I believe it to be a legitimate website.

I didn't know you had to pay for it, I never really looked at it much aside from the main page. I guess cons would be better options, too bad there isn't one near me though

Why do you need a site like Bronymate or a ponycon to meet someone? Don't you have other places you can go and meet and fraternize with others in a hope to make a connection? Are you specifically only looking for someone in the pony community? Also like someone above said, maybe just use a regular dating site if you just want to try something online.

Well, yea... I just am interested in this fandom so... I thought it might be a good idea. But your right, I could be normal. To answer your question... No :D! I stay at home :3. This makes me happy however. RPing is better than anything physical anyway, from my experience, But... I tend to experience things more mentally anyways

Well go out more. Try to go do things and see things in your city, by yourself if nothing else... you never know who or what you will run across.

Also, and I am only saying this because of how your statement sounded... the fandom is normal. If you look at it in anyway as abnormal, so will everyone else, which will just make it more of a crutch than an enjoyable hobby/pastime/guilty pleasure. It is nothing you may want to go shouting from the rooftops anytime you meet another person, but it is also nothing to be ashamed of or hidden either.

I realize you might know this already, it is just I very often seem to see people use the terms MLP & normal against each other as if they somehow are not.

I mean that most people wouldn't use a site like bronymate. That is all. I live in Topeka, Kansas, a city where people are not as strange as I am, so I can't really relate to anyone. Also it's one of the top 10 cities in obesity rate so many people look... distasteful. Most people here are very 'normal', but I consider normal to be boring.

I am also more into the fandom than normal people, I read very dark fimfiction, spend a lot of money on expensive pony art, ect ect. I don't think of being normal as a good quality, myself, but rather a bad one... But I understand a lot of people actually want to be normal. Bronies themselves... Well you can argue it either way. I won't dispute you though

Even if the site were legitimate, I wouldn't go about looking for love by seeking out someone who likes FiM and calls themselves a Brony if I were you.

Love has never come from me by specifically seeking out people who have a specific interest of mine.

Then again, maybe you shouldn't listen to me. >.<

I have seen this site advertised... find a brony in your area... Is it a good idea? or is it a scam?

I signed up just to check it out once. Within an hour, my blank profile with no picture had a bunch of hot chicks really close to me in pony cosplay hitting me up. There are two explanations for this.

  1. My town is full of super thirsty pegisisters and the male population is at least 99% homosexual.
  2. It's a scam.

I lean towards the latter explanation.

Brony and Furry mate always came across as a scam in my opinion. First of all you need to BUY a subscription to even use it which I never saw the point in, especially as a furry because if you really were serious about online dating, you would either trawl through FurAffinity or just use Pounced. Pounced being the main go to furry dating site. Im not 100% if bronies us it too, but its free, widley used and you almost always get a response. You can also chose to set what youre looking for; friendship, relationship, long term, short term, one night stands etc.

My experience with Bronymate so far has been to set up fake profiles as a joke to see what kind of people use it.

- if i was actively looking for fandom online dating, I would not use Bronymate.

Hi, @trademark2! Since your thread relates to a website, it has been moved to Media Discussion and given the "Web" prefix for categorization purposes. Thank you, and happy discussing! :)

I'd personally stay away from niche sites and stick to more mainstream ones like OKCupid. You can still list MLP or anything else among your interests and it's free. No extra surprises like a fee to read your responses, etc. unless you want to see who added you as a Favorite, but you don't really need that anyway. Others, like POF, I don't trust because they seem to have access to more personal info then they are given, and Match.com is a total scam. In any case I recommend researching any dating sites thoroughly before signing on, because the vast majority of them suck.

Nah. I don't do dating sites. I think those things take advantage of people to make money. I mean, if we were meant to find someone, we wouldn't look to a dating site for "help". Also, one's interest in another person should be based on more than one thing, although that can sometimes help I suppose.
