Just like the title says did you ever have that person or people that got you into a game serious that you now love? my cousin princessofcompassion has gotten me into a lot of good game franchises like the Silent Hill series my favorites being silent hill 1,2,3 and origins she got me into Devil May Cry I really like the first one and will be playing the second and third game at some point she also got me into Dark Stalkers/Vampire Savior in which I purchased the Japanese playstation version Vampire Savior for $8, she got me into the Tales series one of my favorites being Tales of Symphonia  and she got me into Harvest Moon more friends of mineral town so who got you into your favorite game franchise(s)?

I've been playing videogames since I was pretty much born, was born with a controller in my hand lol, but my first game was Mario I saw my brother/sisters playing so I wanted to give it a try and from the moment I picked up the controller I never put it down and from there I got my own systems and games, but as for other games I found them myself so I could expand my collection and a lot of them ended up being really good like Banjo Kazooie being one of them and many more games and like I said above my cousin introduced me to some awesome games.

Hmm... I'd say my parents got me into my first games... Killer Instinct (Super NES), Driver (PS1), Pac-Man, Galaga, Tetris, etc. My Aunt got me Guitar Hero II for Christmas a while back, which started me on that long and pain-filled road... And then a few friends started me on the CoD and Dark Souls paths... And I myself explored and got myself into everything else (WoW, Minecraft, Garry's Mod, etc).

Well there was a YouTuber called Frumple02 who created the MRT minecraft server plus I first discovered Minecraft through his YouTube channel. Back then Minecraft was in bata-1.6 but I didn't get the PC version until Minecraft 1.0 was released but I got the pocket edition around 6 months earlier. I probably watched the first Minecraft video in late 2010 but I got it on PC in mid 2011 or around then. :)

My boyfriend introduced me and got me more into Fallout, CoD and other game series.

I've been playing video games ever since I was young but didn't have anyone to share the love for games with, so I'm very lucky to have someone like him to enjoy it with :yay:

Some of my current favorites were introduced to me by my best friend. I never knew about Growlanser and had never played a Shin Megami Tensei before I talked to him. I never miss a chance to introduced either to someone.

I also would never have played some games if I didn't have him to play with. Games like Destiny or Earth Defense Force. Hell, I probably wouldn't have played Gears of War either without his shining recommendation.

My brother was the main reason I ever got into the likes of Final Fantasy, Zelda, MGS, Megaman, etc., he was able to buy games and I wasn't, so when he did get these, I needed to try them for myself, all four have been some of my all-time favorite franchises ever since

Interesting topic there.

Well watching others got me into playing games like the Resident Evil series and the Dead Space ones as well. (I hated Operation Raccoon City)

Then of course I play games like Call of Duty and  Minecraft.

My brother and I got into video games at the same time back in the late 1980s when we got our first console, the NES, though he would use it way more often than I would because I was seen as immature, not responsible, and generally an annoyance. I learned from my brother by watching him whenever he tolerated my presence--we were young so I don't hold it against him now--and eventually got my own system in the form of the Game Boy a couple of years later.

The biggest influence for me was my brother for sure. I remember way back when, when I was much younger, watching him play games like Final Fantasy and metal Gear Solid, among other things. He was the one that got me into those respective series. Then there have been many times where he has shown me a game and then I immediately want it as well and then I loved the series, like Animal Crossing, among others. He also is the reason I now love Dark Souls. :3 My brother is a pretty coooool dude.

majority are boring stories like, ooh new fantasy game thats not WoW, I'll play that. or watching friends and youtubers play a game that makes me wanna play it (Fallout being the main one of that).

The most innocent reason I have is when I got into Assassin's Creed. (my fave game series). Boyfriend at the time bought it cheap (before 2 came out) and started playing it and got so far before getting bored with it. I took an interest in it because of the horse riding mechanic. As soon as I started playing it I was hooked and always chose to use horses as travel in the first 3 games instead of fast travel. I was gutted when they took horses out of the games =( now the closest we get is carriage driving.

Im from a sailing family and the navel travel in 4 is fun, but i remember hating it so much in 3.

Borrowed my friend's copy of Golden Sun back in high school and played the heck out of it

Then I did the same for The Lost Age and bought Dark Dawn for myself

Same goes for the Sonic Advance Trilogy, Sonic Battle, Legend of Zelda Link to the Past/Minish Cap, Spyro, Metroid Fusion, Zero Mission and Pokemon series

The GBA was one heck of a console with some of the best games I've ever played

Then I got my hands on a PC and borrowed my other friend's copy of Half-Life 2 Episode One, then bought The Orange Box for the other games in that series, and gleefully purchased pretty much every other Half-Life game over the next few months and I still play them to this day, even if Valve has forgotten about them in favor of MMORPGs like TF2, DOTA and CSGO

My brother did for the most part. Got me into LoL and TF2 (I have played way more than him of either. I have probably 10 times as many hours on each as he does... I have a smurf account on LoL that's getting close to the level of my brother's only account.) as well as getting me interested in... Well... Many games. Though I never shared his absolute love of the Legend of Zelda franchise, because I'd only played part of Ocarina of Time and found it a little too difficult for my liking, and I probably took more of a liking to Mario games than he did, specifically ones that are don't have "64" in their title. My brother acts like the N64 is the holy grail of consoles. I disagree as the controllers are designed in an uncomfortable way. I would personally say my favorite console was the GameCube, judging by how much I played on it when I was like 8-9, and also the fact I absolutely love the controller's design.

Though some games I got into because of YouTubers. Gaming Curios kind of got me going on wishing Overwatch was an F2P game, and I think I started to want Yooka-Laylee after learning of it's existence from a video that I believe was made by Lockstin and Gnoggin but I'm not sure. It was somebody like that...

All of my childhood games that started me off as a gamer were bought by my parents. The most important games they bought were Super Monkey Ball, Mario Kart Wii, and Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg. There's some others too, like Shrek Super Party and Shrek Smash 'n' Crash Racing. My cousins and brother introduced me to Smash Bros, making me a fan of PAC-MAN in the process too.

The only one I can tie to an individual is Pokemon.

Who got me into Pokemon is a little bit strange. My family and I went out camping the summer of 1999. We met this family. The family had a kid, and he told me about Pokemon, that it was this really awesome game that I should play. After that, I would get Pokemon Red and become obsessed.

I found out about The Sims through my cousin, but I don't think that's what got me to play it. It was after playing Animal Crossing that I was interested in The Sims.

Good question! When I was little I wanted to do everything my older brother did and it was because of him I started playing video games when I was 5 years old. He had a NES and he used to get frustrated because I would watch him play Super Mario and I would say things like "Jump!" or "Look out!" Then he'd yell for mom and I would have to leave the room. Sometimes I was allowed to use the NES and my mom bought me my first video game, a Sesame Street game, that I would play.

Then I finally got my own system when the Super Nintendo released and played video games since.

During my freshman year of college I had a friend who would bring his Xbox 360 down to the common room in our dorm and play Skyrim for hours on end. He'd sneak beer and hard liquor in coffee mugs, and we'd just hang out and talk about stupid stuff, eat 47 grilled leeks, and slay dragons. I'd never even considered getting Skyrim until watching him play it about seven hundred times, but it seemed like so much fun that I had to get myself a copy. And it's every bit as fun as it looked.

Pokemon: A kid named Matt in grade 1 brought his copy of pokemon blue to school and it became a bit of a fad. He was the cool kid because he had a gameshark and a mew, which I didn't know about at the time. But yeah, watching him and the others playing this massive open world game on their consoles captured my imagination. Then the internet rekindled it with the roumers of the pokegods, which were really just glitch mons.

Phoenix Wright: Newgrounds "Phoenix Wrong" spoofs. Wish I were kidding.

Mario: My parents. Our first console was an SNES with super mario world. That was also my first video game and still my absolute favourite 2D platformer. Its aged beautifully despite being released 27 years ago.
