What is your favorite movie that have a sequel(s) that still remain good as the first one?

My would be Harry potter, Jason borne, and  lord of the ring/the hobbit.

How To Train Your Dragon 2 not only managed to stay just as good as the first one, but managed to become even better.

Also while Captain America the First Avenger isn't one of my favorite MCU films, The Winter Solider and especially Civil War are two of the absolute best of the entire MCU.

I agree with the sequels to Harry Potter, Bourne, LotR, Terminator and The Conjuring being equally good.

Then there's The Godfather 2 that was better than the first one. Evil Dead 2 & 3 was great too. I also think the first few sequels to Friday the 13th were great.. Then it went downhill really quickly with psychic powers and gremlins from hell.

Spiderman 2 from 2004 was as good as the first one and so are many of the sequels to James Bond Dr. No. Scream 2 is imo as good as the first one, at least what I can remember.

Then there's these horror films called Feast that nobody has heard of. They're hilarious and I recommend anyone into horror comedy with lots of gore to check them out. All 3 are equally ridiculous.

HTTYD, Madagascar, and Despicable Me are the only ones that I can think of. Though I haven't absolutely hated a sequel so far. Those three were the best with sequels in my opinion x3

For me it would be the Amityville Film Series ( even though i dislike a few Sequels ), the Resident Evil Movies, the Alien Films, Rush Hour, Disneys Alladin Films, The Lion King and The Land before Time.

Star Wars (classics and prequels), Indiana Jones, Back to the Future (especially the middle one), Harry Potter, Toy Story, James Bond (even though I don't like most of the newer ones) and maybe Rambo (the fourth one got a little heavy though, not the comic-book action of the first three).

I have a very unpopular opinion: speed and speed 2 cruise control. I love the sequel, sure the writing had a few rough edges, but the story and drama give it a brilliant action packed tone. This is not a troll post, this is actually my opinion.

Lilo and Stitch, Madagascar, Despicable Me, The Land Before Time, Toy Story, How to Train your Dragon, Kung Fu Panda, Finding Nemo, and Winnie the Pooh.

There are others as well too, but there are also a few where the Sequels are not too bad but just don't have much of a strong and really good reason to be made.

Lilo and Stitch

Absolutely agreed! To be honest I liked the sequel even more than the original.

The Lord of The Rings is one of my most favorite movies and it's still good, so is it's sequel The Hobbit! Honestly, I think this whole "sequel = bad" thing is flawed, it assumes that a sequel is inherently bad without actually giving the sequel a chance. There are many sequels that I love, some of which I love more than the original movies. Just because a movie is made only for money like sequels nowadays doesn't mean it can't be good.

Terminator 2 is better than the original. Something about Robert Patrick's performance as the T-1000 makes him a more entertaining villain who's more eerie and even less "human" than the original T-800. The dynamic between the new T-800, Sarah, and little John is awesome. And Sarah has become a legitimately badass protagonist in her own right.
