gaming Favorite Game System Start Up Sounds

Ah, start up sounds. Game systems have had these since at least the Gameboy and while some systems didn't have these, the ones that do are mostly iconic and loved by many gamers.

So let's talk them! What are YOUR favorite gaming start up noises?

Of course a classic one is the original Playstation, but you know another one I have TONS of nostalgia for? The start up sound for the Gameboy Advance. Memories come flooding back to me anytime I hear it.

Glorious! :D

For me; it HAS to be the Playstation 1. Just imagine myself, as a little kid. I played NES and Sega Genesis for years, but I got a PS1 for Christmas. Putting in NASCAR 98 and hearing this rock my TV:

Man; this still gives me chills. :D

Honorable mention to the Atari Jaguar:

This may not count, but, on the NES there was no "startup sound" but you went right to the game screen. Sometimes the song would start in a jarring way as soon as you struck the button in and the electrons connected. Two come to mind:

Legend of Zelda. When the power went through that glorious music would begin.

And also

when the bells started :D

and as Kyoshi mentioned:

GAME BOY ding

Playstation 2 without a doubt, considering I've had the system since I was god knows how old. It's nostalgic for sure, but the one thing I miss the most is the anxious waiting for the boot screen to end before a certain point, so you know the game is still readable.

The Playstation systems have always had my favorite startups, but I see they've already been mentioned. Hearing them both now though... still brings the rush of nostalgia. =]

I think we should give an honorable mention to the original Xbox however, which often made me wonder if there really was a quantum singularity generator inside my system. :ooh:

Not entirely a console start up sound but found on so many games its near enough.

On a side note did you know that this "Sega scream" took up 1/8th of the cartridge space on Sonic the Hedgehog alone. Digitized voice in 16 bit games were extremely large files.

Also speaking of Sega

Someone was also cool enough to remake the intro

I am a bit disappointed that people have already mentioned my favorites which would be that of the Gameboy Advanced and Gamecube.

When I first saw the tile I was so ready to post Gameboy Advanced, only for it to have been mentioned in the OP.

Nope, just a Pentium, 64 megs of RAM, and an NV2A.

It's a tie between the PlayStation 2, the PlayStation 1 and the Nintendo Gamecube. They all sound really cool, in my opinion. I also get really psyched when I hear those start up game sounds.

Since Gamecube and Dreamcast has already been mentioned, I want to give a shout out to Neo Geo

I have fond memories of the GameCube one. Probably would also say GBA like other posts here, except I usually kept GBA games muted.
