Is the rainbow Bifrost?

Many times, the ponies have crossed a rainbow to get to Megan's world. Now, in Norse mythology, there exists a rainbow bridge called Bifrost, that connects the world of gods and humans/ earth. The ponies' rainbow also acts as a bridge between two worlds. Does this imply that the pony world is the world of gods, and the rainbow really is Bifrost, connecting to the human world?
