visual art Help with Worldbuilding a Setting

I've got an original (non MLP) setting with Ponies, but I've realised I've got a large region in the continent where I don't have much of an idea to put in, other than Ponies. Here's the map below (and here's the original size). Could anyone help?

​How do the ponies and other species in the other lands react to each other?  Is there conflict?  Differences of opinions?  What about the culture of the surrounding locations?  How does this influence the other locations, if at all?  What is the lore of the world? what is the main biome of these empty sections?  The world?

 

​I'm also working on worldbuilding with something too, I was having difficulty with the south of the continent that I'm creating.  Take some time to reflect on it and take a break from it, it'll come to you sooner or later.  One thing I'd suggest is maybe make the empty spaces of land a mountain range along the border of the griffon's territory with plenty of valleys and extend the territory of the red deer to the valleys and maybe have ram or mountain goats to the mountain ranges...?
