Peewee's Departure should've been an episode

Spike adopted himself a baby phoenix whom he was gonna teach the pony ways to, and then all the sudden, he's gone before he can have an episode. I got nothing against Spike returning him, but that would've been the perfect opportunity for an episode! Why bother putting in Peewee if he was just gonna leave just like that?

It's not too late though! Perfect opportunity for a flashback story episode! A good chance to see unicorn Twilight and the Golden Oak Library again! Could be a Spike/Fluttershy episode too! I know after the bond they had in the first episode of the show, they're overdo on one! Also you'll never know! Peewee could come back as an adult phoenix in the future!

What do you think? Should this episode happen to tie up loose ends with Peewee? :D

I definitely would've liked that, the fact that we never even got to see Peewee again, and he was returned offscreen via picture just made him feel pointless

Spike getting rid of Pewee was a pretty lost opportunity in the show.

I wish we could have gotten an episode focusing on their bond and then he would return him to his parents at the end of the episode.

It could have made for some decent growth for Spike's character.

Absolutely agree with this. I was never happy with how they handled that by giving us a simple picture and...that's it. Them having Peewee in some episodes and having a departure episode would have been a sad, but heartwarming moment. Instead he was sorta tossed out without warning. Sorta like Flurry Heart.

I wish! xD

I would love to see that Peewee's episode. But i love more the idea thet OP said of a whole flashback episode to see the library and unicorn twilight again. Would be amazing. And they could link the past story to the present, like a chain of flashbacks to resolve a mystery or something.

I agree with op. It should have been its own episode. One idea that I think would work however is Spike teaming up with Celestia and then learning about the origins of her pet Philomena. Maybe Celestia can say something like "Philomena was taken upon me, however she originally belonged to a former student of mine" and by saying that she would hint at the existence of Sunset Shimmer. Sunbutt would then go onto explain Phoenix "imprinting", telling Spike that they never forget their original owners, and still share a bond with them, which would lead Spike to go back to the forest to find Peewee, when he feels their bond pulling him. Spike gets into a pinch, and Peewee saves him in a blaze of Phoenix fire, and the two go on some epic adventure and at the end of the day, Spike asks Peewee if he wants to come back to Ponyville with him, to which Peewee agrees.

That's one way we can get Peewee back, and on a permanent basis

As much as I would like that too, he honestly didn't appear for that long, and isn't an extremely important character. They probably didn't want to make an episode based on them because of that. I would love to see something like that though.

Absolutely should have been an episode. Completely missed opportunity.

Here's a post I made on the subject that happens to be one of the most-brohoofed posts I've made:

The one potential episode that I simply cannot believe no one bothered to make is an episode that would have focused on Spike taking care of Peewee and ultimately sending him back to his family.

The setup was perfect. For the first time in his life, Spike would have been given a responsibility greater than what he has ever known before. Not only does he learn what it means to care for a pet, he learns about just how strong the bonds of family are. But because of this, Twilight eventually recommends to Spike that he return Peewee to his family. At first, Spike blatantly refuses, drawing off of the lesson he learned in Dragon Quest that Peewee does not need to be with other Phoenixes to feel where he belongs. But Twilight informs him that he isn't considering the perspective of Peewee's family, stating that his absence likely devastated them, while also adding that if someone came and took Spike away from her, she would devastated as well. So with that  thought in mind, Spike finally agrees, and the episode ends with him tearfully returning Peewee where he belongs. This would have been a spectacular episode full of awesome development for Spike (which, Lord knows, is something he needs) as well as intense feels.

Why an episode like this was not made when it was already set up so perfectly will always be a mystery to me.   :okiedokieloki:

And to make it even worse, what do we get instead of this? A series of pictures at the beginning of Just for Sidekicks which explain Peewee's unceremonious removal from the show, whilst also implying that Spike was a lousy caretaker and was also not the least bit sad or upset about returning him to his family.   >_>
