movies/tv What's your favourite animated franchise?

We all have fond memories of watching animated films as children, or for many of us as a we grow up. Since animation is one of my greatest passions, and since I just thought that it would be interesting to see your opinions, what is your favourite animated franchise?

The only rule is that it has to be a FRANCHISE, meaning that there has to be at least 2 main films in the series. So as much as we all love Frozen, it can't be an option.

My favourite franchise is the Kung Fu Panda series. They're just really well made, funny, thought provoking films with a great lore and a likeable cast of characters. Particularly the 3rd instalment which is perhaps my favourite animated film of all time.

What's your favourite? Keep the quality of all the instalments in mind.

Although there is only one film of Watership Down there was also a TV series, so I guess that counts?  So yeah, probably Watership Down.

Additionally (In case the above is excluded) having recently watched all six of Disney's Tinkerbell films (the latter 3 for the first time) I was pleasantly surprised at how good they actually are, for a run of six films to maintain that level of quality in story and characterisation is pretty impressive, there really isn't a dud in the bunch.

Also, honourable mentions for Kung Fu Panda, How to Train your Dragon and Madagascar.

Have to agree with the How to Train Your Dragon crowd here - thoroughly enjoyed both the films (and they are some of the only films I think 3D adds something extra, the flight scenes are fantastic imo)

Definitely the Scooby Doo franchise- I've loved it since I was just a little kid, and I still love the movies. The recent KISS crossover film was an homage to rock and roll, and I personally thought it was great. Favorite movie by far is Zombie Island.

The Lion King!

The original film is my favourite animated movie of all time. :D The Lion King 1 1/2 is pretty nicely animated and has some decent music (same for the new tv series, The Lion Guard, actually!)

The Lion King 2 and the Timon & Pumbaa tv series are the weakest points of the franchise IMO, but they're still watchable.

And The Lion King Broadway musical is quite epic, too!

I only watched Kung Fu Panda 1 and by now I've read lots of people saying that the 3rd one is so so amazing woah. gotta wacth the 2 and 3rd then!

I love to watch animated films, I think I watch more animated than live-action. Still I dont have an absolutelly favourite animated franchise. These years we're getting so much sequels and creating franchises so its good. Pus nowdays sequels are made with budget and though as a big movie, not like in the 90s when all disney sequels were straight-to-VHS and seen as minor movies. Glad Disney nowdays jumped in too so we're getting Disney Big Sequels too (Frozen 2, Wrech-It Ralph, Big Hero6 I think..)

Im talking too much sorry, you just asked for my favourite  :please:

I will say How To Train Your Dragon, since the first is awesome and the second is it too and has lots of quality. Also I hear the TV show is good to. Cant wait for the 3rd :D

imo the 3 first Shrek movies are awesome too. I dont get why lots of people hate them. The first changed 3D animation mixing pop culture jokes, music, and humor for everyone and not just kids.

I dont like the 4th since it breaks the character evolution (spoiler of the 3rd: at the end shrek decides to stay king and love his kids, at the 4th hates being a king and dont wants kinds). but mostly i dont like it cause its just a alternate universe created by magic. that is a tv-movie plot imo. still im interested to se the 5th movie they're doing.

im talking too much again sorry

Well when we say "franchise" I would believe that this would not disclude Pokemon, which is still very relevant in every aspect aside from just the animations, there are some animes in the running, but it would definitley come between MLP and Pokemon as a franchise, its hard when you put it that way because the playing field is so open, and there are so many "franchises" the titles are an extension.

My favorite animated franchises would be Pokemon, Various Animes ( Like Case Closed, One Piece, Gunslinger Girl and so on ), The Land before Time and How to train your Dragon.

Oh yeah, also the Dc Comics Animated Section.

There is some stuff i dislike, but mostly its great.

I rarely ever can find people that have seen Case Closed, a lot of people dont remember from the Adult Swim era, If I remember correctly it even had a cross over with Lupin at one point in time.

Very likely Lilo & Stitch - an alien friend like Stitch has been the ultimate dream of mine ever since I saw the first movie (I actually saw the second movie first which is probably why I'm so fond of it). All kinds of merchandise that has Stitch on it instantly catches my curious eye.

It's a nice coincidence that both Lilo & Stitch and MLP have friendship as a main factor. And friendship is what I like.  :D

Yes, there was a short OVA special were Conan and Lupin met each other and then later, there made a whole Movie.

Here in my Country, Case Closed counts as one of the Classics, that pretty much everyone watched as a kid.

Currently the Anime is being released in Germany in Dvd Sets and if we are lucky, we might even get more Sets than America. ( if it sell´s well )

Also i forgot a few animated franchises like Drawn Together ( it got one Series and a Movie, that counts as 2, right? ), Family Guy and American Dad.

A lot of the animated franchises I like don't have movies associated with them, and many happen to be extremely niche in that they are known either in the U.K. or were from the 1980s. I'm a big fan of Thundercats--the 1980s version and not the 2011 one--as I practically grew up with it, Transformers, Danger Mouse--original and reboot--a British cartoon, etc.

I dunno.. since it has to be a franchise that narrows it down a lot.

Toy Story is an easy pick, but I will also toss in The Rescuers.

I also actually enjoyed both Fern Gully films and the All Dogs Go To Heaven films, although the holiday ones were pushing it. The Secret of Nimh would make the list but I truly hated the sequel. The same thing for the Land Before Time film(s).
