The characters outside the Mane 7 getting powers?

If you recall in "Legend of Everfree," The Mane 7 got Superpowers that put them on par with various Marvel and DC Superheroes. But why just limit that to the Mane 7? Why not have some of the other characters earn their Superpowers as well? For example....

 

 

Derpy Hooves/Muffins: Bubble blowing(Can create, shape and manipulate bubbles. Useful for trapping)

Trixie: Illusions and fireworks(As a nod to Jubilee)

Snips: Can cut through most objects. Does not slice through human flesh

Snails: Can slow down enemies or obstacles

Shining Armor: Form a battle armor on himself

Bulk Biceps: Much like Applejack, super strength. Mostly for punching through things.(This means Applejack will have to have a superpower upgrade)

Vinyl Scratch/DJ-Pon3: Sound Manipulation(You can also think "Bass Cannon" from Saints Row 4)

Gloriosa Daisy: Summon Flowers/Florakinesis

Timber Spruce: Wood Manipulation

Maud Pie: Stone Manipulation

 

What do you guys think? Should the outside characters also get their own unique powers?

Yeah sure! Get rid of this whole Mane 7/6 being the center of attention literally all the time and have the other characters be in the spotlight for once, at least.

Scootaloo needs fire manipulation powers and enhanced flight capabilities by means of the ability to sprout huge wings made of flame from her back

 

Apple Bloom needs to get shipped with Mando again... O-oh and maybe some earth-bending as well ^^;

Lyra: Golden gauntlets give her all sorts of anime hand powers (see GaoGaiGar, JoJo, and Dragon Ball Z for examples), and just like in Asura's Wrath, she catches a country-sized finger from the sky and punches it into oblivion.

 

Octavia: Can destroy anything with a cello without breaking her cello, and stretches her bow all the way from Earth to the Moon (Augus)

The Rainbooms have been exposed to magic more than every other character in the Equestria Girls world thanks in large part to Princess Twilight's crown and the Elements of Harmony indirectly, so it makes sense that only they are capable of using it since it does make them special. Of course, other characters could acquire magic thanks to the revelation seen at the end of Legend of Everfree though it would need to make sense for them to get it and not just because.

Flash Sentry:

Can emit ultrasonic sound blasts from certain parts of his body, and channel vibrations to enhance them. Can also create generate ultrasonic sound waves through dance movements and can focus them into hypnotic beats that can stun the enemy or force them to helplessly dance along with him.

 

Derpy Hooves:

She operates on cartoon logic and can do just about anything that should otherwise be impossible. Bad luck tends to affect her and those around her, no matter how impossible the scenario may seem.

The only other character outside of the mane 7, I can reasonably see getting magical abilities would have to be Gloriosa Daisy.

Because

after turning into a literal raging she demon because of exposure to Equestrian Magic,

I can see her retaining some form of residue magic in her afterwords.
Such as the Rainbooms still had magic after being exposed to the Element of Magic.

Funny you should mention this idea. I was working on this when Rainbow rocks ended and it took form of Equestrian City. Once I get a proofreader or two more xD

 

The endless possibilities for powers are the main reason I decided to explore this very question. For instance lightning dust would easily have super speed as a kind of reverse flash to Rainbow dash.

I could see Cheese Sandwich having the ability that Michael Jackson had in Moonwalker for Sega Genesis, where he forced enemies to dance with him. Principal Celestia could have fire powers while Vice Principal Luna could have Telepathy or Hypnosis.

When designing the main heroes for my fiction, I ended up giving Sunset Shimmer a very Huntress feel about her. She's martial arts (I got a kick out of her jumping out of bed in the fourth movie, as I'd written this at the end of the 2nd) with the ability to manifest fire in short bursts, even giving her flight for short distances.

 

I wasn't keen on the empathy / telepathy angle they went with when I saw the fourth movie.

 

Likewise, the connection between Superman and Applejack is just too hard NOT to do, thus she ended up with Super strength and some degree of invulnerability

 

Fluttershy was a toss up between Flutterbat (Dr. Morbius from Marvel) and Hulk (which seemed reasonable based on her eagerness to be passive) so I'm still working on a final design for her
