spoiler Spike being a pufferfish is EXTREMELY AMAZING

No joke, guys. Anyone who is complaining about Spike getting turned into a pufferfish for the movie obviously don't know their animal facts.

The majority of pufferfish species are toxic and some are among the most poisonous vertebrates in the world. And there is enough toxins in a single pufferfish to kill 30 adult humans.

Oh, and by the way, there is no antidote for pufferfish toxins.

Spike is finally getting the treatment he deserves!

@@Nightmare Muffin I have added the spoiler tag to this topic due to the nature of it, note that I have also changed the title to be slightly more forum-friendly, as swear words of any kind are not permitted in topic titles.

I dunno, the more I hear about the seapony aspect of the film, the more I fear it will be the worst part of the film.

Even though you know almost nothing about it.

well, it appears to be the big thing they'll be merchandising for-- the Playset for the movie is of the Seapony castle, the toys of the mane six that we've seen so far have been of them as Seaponies, and there doesn't appear to be any other gimmicks for the movie, toywise, like Rainbow power or whatnot.

So its not unreasonable to fear for the movie if you're disliking what's being shown for the seapony part. If nothing else, I think it looks like the seaponies will play a pretty large role in the movie.

So wait, you think it's ok to prejudge something based on merchandise alone, regardless of the fact that little is even known about the sequence, and regardless of the fact that not all of the merchandise has necessarily been revealed, considering that they still have over half a year to release more. All we know now is that there will be a part of the movie where mane six will go to the seapony kingdom and be transformed into seaponies, and that spike will be transformed into a pufferfish. We don't know why, we don't know for how long, and we don't know what else will happen with the seaponies, we only have assumptions based on limited evidence.

A person can dislike the idea of the movie's plot having a large focus on the seapony kingdom, which the information we have now points to.

Some people might rather the movie have gone inward rather than outward and rather explored some worldbuilding for parts of equestria that we have now, like the everfree forest, the tree of harmony, or another location in the per-established world.

its highly doubtful that they'll have time to do much worldbuilding or exploration for other parts of the universe if they're having to devote a sizeable amount of time to Seaquestria and its denizens, which, given the number of toys for that part of the movie, seems pretty likely.

Again, you're making assumptions based on minimal evidence. Nothing actually points to the sea pony kingdom taking up a large part of the movie, you're just jumping to conclusions. It also doesn't make sense when most of the characters aren't even related to the ocean.

The plot is basically "Villain attacks, mane six have to find the sea ponies to defeat him". Its pretty hard to not think they'll play a large role in the movie.

Where is it stated explicitly that finding the sea ponies is one of the major goals and not just a semi-major plot point? The synopsis says:

The herd of brave ponies comes eye to eye with their biggest enemy. The mischievous Storm King decides to steal all of the magic from Equestria. In order to save it, the brave heroes set out on a journey full of adventures. They will make friends with sea ponies and good pirates, and live through many funny and emotional turns of events to once again prove that Friendship is Magic.
Nothing in that synopsis says that finding the sea ponies is the key to defeating the storm king. You made that up.

You made that up.

At the russian conference about 5 months back they stated equestria was attacked and that the mane six had to set out to find the seaponies to find out how to defeat the villain. There is literally no reason to doubt that info given what we've been shown so far.

That is not what they said. They said that the mane six would become seaponies for a portion of the film. Nowhere was it stated that the mane six had to find the sea ponies to defeat the storm king. You are grasping at straws here.

I might have to agree with him. Why else would they have to find the seaponies, whose Queen seapony turns them into seaponies, if not to defeat the Storm King?

Finding the sea ponies was never stated to be the goal of the movie.
