Is Big Macintosh jealous of Applejack and the other members of the Mane Six?

The episode "Brotherhooves Social" gave me the impression that Big Macintosh has a inferiority complex to Applejack and the other members of the Mane Six.

Big mac secretly resents the notion he wasn't born a mare, and an alicorn at that.

 

Dysfunctional family structure might be an influential factor.

I didn't exactly get a vibe like that in the episode. o_o Maybe he was jealous of Applejack but not the rest of them. He wanted to be there for his sister and he always thought AJ was the one that was the really impressive sibling because of her many adventures, but Applebloom assured him that he is just as important for his place on the farm and his just being cool. :3

I think of Big Mac as wishing that he could do the kinds of things Applejack does when it comes to Equestria as a whole and feeling inadequate that he has never had the chance himself. Sure, he's content with his lot in life but he can't hide the fact that he wishes he had a higher calling.

i dont really see that, I think Big mac is content for who he is, he just rarely shows it.

 I don't think he is jealous over the other ponies, it was mostly AJ because applebloom looked up to her more than him

Big Mac is pretty overall happy with his life as far as I can see. He did her envious of Applejack in that episode, but that is normal considering everyone praises Applejack and looks up to her, and he at times feels left out. Applebloom reminded him how important he is though, so I would say he is part that. I don't think he is jealous of any of the other characters as he has not shown that. I do think he may have some deep seated fantasies and dreams though of being a bigger hero at times though.

I have been harping on this for quite sometime. I believe he is. I strongly believe he wants to be a hero like his sister. He himself told Applebloom. This would make a PERFECT story arc for Big Mac, thus giving him a goal to work towards. Hopefully this season there will be further work towards the Big Hero Moment, thus leaping out of the shadow of Applejack for good and getting rid of his jealousy forever.

He did seem to have an inferiority complex towards Applejack in that episode but i doubt it extends to the mane 6 as a whole.

nah I dont think he's jealous, he just feels under-appreciated which is a totally different thing. At least what I got from what he said in that episode was that everything AJ does is appreciated way more than what he does because when you compare saving Equestria to running a farm its not really a big thing. He just wants to be as important and as good as a role model to Applebloom as AJ is.

Big Mac seemed upset not because his sister was such a hero, but because he felt it was taking a toll on his relationship with Apple Bloom. He obviously loves both his sisters but felt shut out.

I don' think so. Big Mac always seemed like a good brother, and proud of Applejack. I think he may be a tad wistful for Apple Bloom to look up to him like she used to when she was younger, but I think any parental figure feels that way about their ward.
