So we know that it was a 1,000 years before episode one that Luna was banished for being Nightmare Moon, but what about all the other events.

 

 

Discord rules.

Celestia and Luna found Elements of Harmony.

Discord encased in stone 

 

 

Luna/Nightmare Moon banished..

 

 

 

Where does Crystal Empire fit into this? How long after Discords fall did they rule before Nightmare Moon, when was Equestria set up my the Princesses. 

 

When did they become Alicorns? 

 

 

And do the comics count? I know some of this is covered by them, or I would assume so, but is that considered cannon or no?

 

 

Basically I am trying to write a fanfic and I need to know the years between these founding events, so I dont have to retract something.

 

I should rewatch the show and take some detailed notes.

The comics aren't canon, I think. But thats mostly up for debate, so if you want to consider them canon, thats fine.

Ok, I was pretty sure they weren't.

 

Guess I should check youtube for a list of contradictions between the two.

 

But I figured the show probably never even hints at it but the comics could totally go into it.

 

I really thought I knew a far amount then I really thought about it and I know nothing about the past.. I'm Ant Snow.. I know NOTHING! lol

Sadly it doesnt really help much, no years and no mention of things like Crystal Empire, Bat Ponies or the like. But a good start for sure.

The Crystal Empire also vanished about 1000 years ago.  This implies it was connected to Nightmare Moon.  It seems likely the Princesses knew Sombra.

 

Princess Twilight shows the Elements came from the Tree of Harmony.  IDK who found them.  One thing: Twilight's Cutie Mark is on the Tree.  If Celestia ever saw the Tree, that's another reason she picked Twilight for her student.  (Well, that & Spike's head sticking out of a building.  But that is why Celestia is Princess -she notices subtle hints like that)  Sunset Shimmer shows that Twilight wasn't her only student & implies there could have been others.  At the end of part 2, when they return the Elements, The Tree briefly shows the holder's Cutie Marks & implies there could be 3 more.

 

It was shown that Celestia used them against Nightmare Moon & afterwards they refused to work for her.  It's implied no one else used them until Twilight did.
