spoiler What if members of the mane 6 were descendants of the founders of Equestria?

Specifically Rarity, Pinkie and Rainbow. Two would fit due to theme naming and one would fit due to something I noticed on the cover of issue one of the upcoming Legends of Magic series. Rarity and Pinkie fit the theme naming theory. Platinum and gems, such as those that Rarity uses in her designs, and that appear as Rarity's cutie mark are both rare precious materials and pies and pudding are both desserts. (with the Hearth's Warming Eve play implying that Puddinghead was a bit of a nutcase, much like Pinkie) Rainbow Dash is where it gets a bit more complicated. On the cover of issue one of Legend of Magic, one of the ponies is a young yellow Pegasus in Greco-Roman armor, implied to be Commander Hurricane himself,  with a facial expression resembling Rainbow Dash's signature confidence.

Equestria was founded so long ago that if the founders had children by this time with ponies intermarrying and the country having a population increase similar to the real world thousands of ponies at least in Equestria would be decended from them. And many from multible founders. It would not be a special thing. And after so long some resemblance to a so distant ancestor would be meaningless.

If it was important enough, than I assume we would have learned about it by now.

And even if they are related at all to any of the founders, than it would be a really really really distant set of ancestors, so that it wouldn't matter very much.

Not very likely to touch the ancestry topic, but I don't think it's impossible the Mane6 descend from the founders. I also think it's more likely they are related to more than one of them each, and they are also very distant cousins  :-P

I really hope they don't go that route, considering the Mane 6 already have the whole Elements of Harmony thing going on. They don't need anything else to make them special. That said, it's still very much a possibility they descended in some way from these ponies, though probably not in an unbroken line.

I don't think so, they're not that important.

>what was the S5 finale

:P

While they've dropped down in importance a ton since They had to give back the EOH to the tree (That was more or less the only thing that made the other 5 relevent in a role besides just being twilight's moral support), the show still has established that, without the six as a group, the world would be Doomed. The logic behind its pretty fuzzy on that one, and one of the things I REALLY dislike about the S5 finale (It played fast and lose and basically just screamed "DON'T THINK ABOUT IT!" at the viewer instead of logically laying out and exploring cause and effect), but its still canon that without the 6 of them together things would have gone badly.

I wouldn't go jumping to conclusions that that's commander hurricane on the cover: They pulled rockhoof out of thin air, so its highly possible every single person on that cover is a brand new Pony they're making a legend for and not Hurricane.

I guess that's true, since I didn't come to a thought of that.  And they are chosen to hold the element of harmony.

Anyways, on topic: i wouldn't mind the mane six ending up as being shown to be the descendents of heroes of equestria, but I'd rather it be HEROES of the past and not the founders.
The founders who we've been shown so far have been petty, small minded, and overall pretty pathetic. The journal of the two sisters paints Platinum as basically being diamond tiara if she was alive back then, and the others weren't impressive either.

I'd rather have totally new, impressive figures made for the purpose of being the mane six's ancestors.

that being said, I'd actually prefer it if they had the six of them be just random ponies from nowhere and became who they are simply due to their own hard work, NOT due to destiny or superior genetics or any crap like that-- I actually greatly prefer stories where it turns out the hero has nothing special going for them but still trounces the gifted, destined people of noble bloodlines just because they're Stronger inside than the people with fancy genetics are.

I HATE the "I will win because of my bloodline!" crap. A hero who builds himself up from nothing is more impressive.
