movies/tv Cartoon Shows that need a Reboot

Hey Arnold is long overdue for a proper reboot. I know they're making a TV movie for it, but I want the actual series back.

King Of The Hill never should have been canceled :( I didn't pay attention to that show for a long time but the reruns on Adult Swim have totally won me over. Time to bring it back.

Invader Zim needs to come back. The comic reboot is pretty cool though, and faithful to the show.

The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius was followed by a terrible spinoff (Planet Sheen) when it probably should have just been continued. Grr.

Teen Titans (NOT the absurd Teen Titans Go) was a beautiful series and one of the few things about DC Comics that I still prefer over Marvel. I miss it very much. Teen Titans Go even trolled the fans with an episode that partially returned to the old visual style and I'm still kinda mad about it.

I'd love to see some of the cartoons from the 1980s and 1990s be given a reboot that retains the nostalgia that they have since acquired while also appealing to a brand new audience.

I wouldn't mind seeing Courage the Cowardly Dog make a return. That show was just so creepy in a very unique way that it would bring some spice back into the animation world. Just so long as it actually keeps the same flair as it had before and doesn't get ruined by focus testing or people trying to shoehorn in popular trends without a reason. I was so disappointed to see the Power Puff Girls reboot go down that road.

I'd love to see the return of Tiny Toon Adventures, Animaniacs or Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers. But to be honest, I'm not sure anyone would be able to measure up to those standards anymore so it might be best to leave them as a great memory and not do anything to disgrace them. I'd hate to see them done wrong.

A big screen movie though, with a big budget might be nice.  :please:

Define reboot? Because I don't think there are any cartoons that need one.

There are some that do need a continuation due to being sooo short. Megas XLR and Transformers Animated comes to mind

As long as it's rebooted by the original creators, then I'm gonna say...

SWAT Kats

ReBoot

Zoids

Johnny Quest (not sure if the original creators are still alive, but I'm betting someone from the team still is)

Sure I could think up more if I had enough time.

It's not exactly a reboot per say, but both Sym-Bionic Titan and Thundercats 2011 were both cut off before their time, and deserve to be brought back so they can continue and conclude their stories.

Like how Samurai Jack is being brought back as well as Young Justice getting a third season.

I know well enough that most Sonic cartoons have aged VERY poorly and generally were mediocre in ratings but just for me, I'd really like to have a reboot of the Sonic SatAM series. I say that because the concept had basically been adopted and transformed for decades by the Sonic the Hedgehog Archie comic. Its basically the same universe but went beyond the cancelled 3rd season into its own plot. They've added new locations, characters, villains, plots, robots and magic to this universe all over a 24 year comic run thats STILL going. I think they could just use the plot from the comic or modify it to their own and make a new sonic show. I cant say it would be all that successful but would be a hell of a lot better then Sonic Boom with a slightly mature setting and theme and ACTUAL character development and plot resolution.

Someone also mentioned this earlier but Swat Kats is another show I really felt could be expanded under the right creative team. I really like the technological angle of the and designs of the vehicles. I know the "furry" fad has died out for a while but its something I think an updated animation team could bring back better than ever.

I think a lot of people are confusing reboot w/ continuation. A continuation is starting where a show left off in the same universe. Reboot is using the same characters and concepts, but starting off from scratch. FiM isn't a continuation of G1-3. It's a reboot.

There have been echos of Swat Kats and Sonic SatAm, and I agree those would be pretty good with updated animation styles and the subtly serious plot elements, but with all the 80s/90s cheese factors removed. In that vein would also be Bucky O'Hare, what with operatic space adventures making a comeback thanks to Star Wars. And with Marvels popularity sky rocketing again, maybe a reboot of the X-Men: Evolution or Wolverine and the X-men cartoons would work well given how far the comics have advanced since then. Just as logn as it doesn't go the ultimate route that Spiderman and Avengers have.

I don't know. Maybe Sushi Pack? Maybe not. A REAL Teen Titans reboot! Not Teen Titans Go. That is a disgrace to DC. Also Strawberry Shortcake. Berry Bitty Adventures is TERRIBLE! and it completely ruins the fun and originality from the last reboot. The new Care Bears reboot is garbage as well. I mean, come on! The elephant, lion, and raccoon care 'bears'? That should have died in the 80's! Overall, those are my thoughts.

Maybe a CGI reboot of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! (but with the necessary tweaks to reflect the current "Mushroomverse" -- most notably regarding Bowser's dynamics with the Koopalings and Bowser Jr.).

I know they just rebooted Sailor Moon, but its so messy, bad drawn, and static with power-point frames that i really want a new reboot already (a good one xD) at least i heard they re-designed the characters for season 3, so its kinda like a soft-reboot xD i wonder if the story, pacing etc are improved too.

also i would like a reboot of adventure time this time without fillers or pseudo-deep-weird episodes. only focusing on the origins of the world and the current main game-changing episodes, but without that super weirdo feel that makes you dont understand a thing. just writen and told pretty classic. still with crazy humour but a bit more serious and mature. also with a better animation.

Care Bears has a sub species called Care Bear Cousins. They existed since the 80s just like the Care Bears themselves.

Yeah, I know. I just couldn't remember what they were called specifically. And the reason I hate the cousins so much (as well as the old chubby design) is because I've seen full episodes of the 80's show and let me tell you, it has literally scared me for life! It gave me nightmares, man! It was awful! And now they've decided to bring them back? Uh-uh, no way! Not for me!

Normally I'd pick Danny Phantom or Teen Titans...but then I remembered this was a re-boot and honestly I don't want them to be reset I want them to be given new seasons...So....As for Reboots though...there are a couple I'd be fine with,

Nickelodeon needs to bring the viewers back....It's not dead but it's dying. Bringing any one of theses back would bring back a good chunk of the old viewership.

if every new cartoon is going to have the same humour as the new Powerpuff Girls, then I dont want to see any of them.

Scooby Doo is also awful, I hate the re-designs. Thundercats reboot started off great but got cancelled due to lack of interest =/ but then I think a  lot of 80s and early 90s hero cartoons are long dead. Turtles and Transformers are still going though I guess. But im no fan.

Disney should go back to making spin off tv cartoons for the big animated films like they used to.

Invader Zim could do with a reboot, it would do quite well these days now that kids are desensitized from gore.

CatDog and Rocko may fit today. Swatcats I'd like to see rebooted. and maybe a new series of Xaolin Showdown? I'd like to see that brought back.

Fosters home needs to come back too.

Although im very reluctant to really suggest any more because of "writing for kids" and the cheaper CGI animation styles we see today just put me off cartoons..... which is why im drawn to the adult swim/netflix mature stuff. I love the animation of Archer and Bojack Horseman.

edit: saw it mentioned, but has anyone else noticed how much Care Bears merch has started appearing in toy shops recently??? Is that the first signs of a real reboot?
