Do you think there should be male Alicorns in the show someday?

I honestly hope there's never a male Alicorn in the show because there is already enough Alicorns in the show and the idea of a male Alicorn just doesn't sound like a good idea to me.

I love Flurry, but I wish she had been a colt.

But yeah now that there's FIVE of them, for the love of Celestia, STOP.

- a male Alicorn in the show as he might be a higher up leader in equestria than the two sisters.

Oh. Oh no, NOT a good idea.

Turning the penultimate authority in Equestria from female biarchy into a male monarchy would cause RIOTS.

technically, there are 10. (including toyline alicorns Skyla, Gold Lily, and Sterling), Leon (from the french comics), and Parabola (IDW comics)

Depends, really. Like how he assumed power, if the sisters are ok with him being monarch, what kind of ruler he is, etc. If he just forced them to step down, then yeah, that would be bad. If they decided that he should rule in their stead, or if he ruled along with them, I don't think there would be a problem. I do think however that a male alicorn on the show would be very unlikely.

I think a male Alicorn would bring in a new depth and twist to the show! Hell,  even if we got one in a flash back would be kinda cool and also shows the viewers in some ways gender has nothing to do in giving your best and all would help to break down some walls a bit in real life and the show,

The only reason I might be against it is because we have enough alicorns as it is, but I don't see any problem with a male alicorn beyond that. If we ever, say...get a history lesson on Alicorns, like the tribe of them Celestia and Luna supposedly came from in the journal of the two sisters, I think it'd be nice to see male alicorns mentioned.

It's not like it goes against any lore for stallion alicorns to exist.

My point is more that this show has feminist roots and is supposed to empower small girls. If a male suddenly became the top dog in the show after eons of Celestia and Luna doing the job, I think it would have some unfortunate implications as bad as the unfortunate implications that existed when there were like NO good male characters in the show.

And this is coming from someone that normally rolls her eyes at feminist uproar. Do NOT suddenly elevate a male character above the two penultimate female rulers. If we got a male alicorn, he needs to be an equal ruling his own kingdom or a rookie. Else wise it'll cause a massive stink.

Lord, just the thought is making me imagine Lauren Faust having a massive rage fit.

It's never officially been clear if he is a Alicorn or not. And he doesn't seem like a Alicorn, so he pretty much doesn't count.

If you go by the comics (always dangerous ground) then he is an Umbrum (or something like that), which is an entirely separate class of beast altogether.

As for whether or not there should be male Alicorns, that would really depend on where they intend to go with the whole Alicorn lore thing, if they intend to follow up on that at all.  We still don't really know if Alicorns exist as a separate type of pony or if they exist purely an an evolutionary form of the existing types.

Personally, I'm against introducing any more at this point, the whole concept of them is devalued every time they add another one, and there really is about three too many already.  Although I will grudgingly accept that Alicornhood was always going to be the end state for Twilight, it's just a shame that the threat of cancellation forced the writers to bring that about too soon.

I said "practically," meaning "might as well be" (i.e., he's a godlike sorcerer who can technically fly (via his smoke form) -- and his size and endurance (against everything but love magic) are arguably reminiscent of Earth Pony strength, too).

But yeah, Concerned Bystander's right: He's officially an Umbrum.

I would only want a male alicorn introduced when they decide to fill out alicorn lore: I want some UMPH to his reveal, not a "oh another alicorn is made" crap, but rather an alicorn RETURNING from being gone.

I'm 100% in favor of a male alicorn, but I want some real story behind it, and them to flesh out alicorn when it happens-- we're still waiting on Flurry heart's existence to have a point besides nearly genociding the empire after all.

The only way I could handle a male alicorn would be if it was Celestia and Luna's father or an Alicorn from the supposed Alicorn settlement the two sisters came from. Otherwise, no male alicorns please.

I just explained right before your question.

LOL! Sorry, I didn't finish reading all the posts. My bad.

I think male alicorns do exist, as Canterlot used to be a settlement full of them, so there should be males among them. If they where to be introduced, they should be independent from Equestria

Cadance tends to think with the heart sometimes as opposed to the brain.  As Shining Armor ages, and she starts to see the potential loss ahead of her, I could certainly see her making an attempt to ascend him.

Not necessarily; it's likely that she, like Twilight (as confirmed by McCarthy), won't have that "outliving"-problem.

Like others have said here, I don't think adding a male alicorn to the cast would be a good idea, considering how many alicorns there already are. BUT, as others also have said, I would honestly love to see at least some reference to male alicorns at some point somewhere, e.g. Celestia and Luna's father, or the aforementioned tribe they apparently came from.

I mean, to be honest, I'd just like to know if male alicorns are even a thing. We haven't seen any thus far, nor is any mention of them made, and it could leave some viewers thinking that stallions just cannot be alicorns. Don't get me wrong, I love the notion of girl power going on here, but the implication that only mares can be or become alicorns seems a little off to me.
