general media Tips for youtube?

So I have been involved in you tube for quite some time now.

I have three Youtube Channels.

I started in 2012 when I went to Japan to work, and started doing videos just for fun (Which is still what I do)
So my travel channel has a few thousand views. 44 Subs. Not really that impressive. I think I make about $1.40 a month off of it.

Last year I started two extra channels.

One was just public domain audio books And I donate the money from that channel to Charity. I have about 7 subs and a few thousand views on that one.

T:hen I have my third one.. Started last year. And its.. Well its just a crappy little youtube channel.

I have done Let'sPlays for Fallout 4, Stardew valley and a few others.

Right now I just put up a Stardew valley thing once a week.

And I have done some stuff where I just talk about Nerdy Topics. Movies I went to see. Books, stuff like that.

And this channel has 203 subs and about 37k views. Almost all of those I got in a span of 4 days a few months ago on a little review of StarTrek... That's it..

And I kind of want to pay more attention to this channel, but I really don't know how.. Because I really have been getting no response to the channel....

I have no ideal what the people watching like?
And I need to learn to make /edit videos better but have no ideal where to start.

Really same thing with Twitch to be honest.

Anyone interested in working with me or helping me out. I can do the same. really all I need is some one who knows a little bit to look at my stuff and give me advice.

I would not mind some examples also.

It would also be interesting (We might already have this) To start a place on the forums to share our work?
Maybe, maybe not...

I'm not that good with youtube, I used to run a nightcore channel with 300ish subs, just posting random stuff now.

The best tip I can give are good thumbnails. JESUS CHRIST the thumbnails make a difference. Make them as good as possible, attract a certain audience, or just people overall. You don't understand how much difference they make, it's not even about the quality of the video, sometimes I click a vid just because their thumbnail is really good. Something pervy, something that attracts a lot of people.

With Youtube, 98% of the time the key to getting big is by getting help from someone who is already big. Which means they have to first take an interest in your videos. Minnesotaburns, for example, liked a video someone posted once, and his channel grew over 300 subs from it. They aren't going to build your channel for you, though. If you make a relationship with someone like one of the big guys, they can help you and offer advice, but it's up to you to get your channel where it needs to go otherwise.

My channel isn't that good (104 subscribers) and I have done a few different types of videos which had different outcomes. Something that I found that worked from my channel was making videos that were very unique and didn't have much of a competition. Almost 6 years ago I did a Mario Kart shortcuts video that has over 50000 views that showed my opinion on how the shortcuts compared to one another, which was something that not many others had done at that time. I've done lets plays, but there are so many of them out there, so they were not successful at all. Then it was antiques such as old cameras which had a wide variety of success. Some only got something like 20 views over 2 years, while a couple were well over 1000. The ones that got most of the views were of items that did not have any other videos of, so when people went to research that item on YouTube, that video was the only one they had to watch, so it got lots of views. In conclusion, with my experience, doing something different then the competition works well.
